I'm looking forward to see how this comes out. I was talking with Hector from Netherrealms at the NYCC about how after how well MK9 did they want to keep their games playing like that. Which is fine for me since they did an amazing job bringing MK back from it's console gaming hell. I really want to see Plasticman in the game but considering their going for the darker, gritter look, I doubt they'd go with a more comical character. Even though I'd love to see how the MK team would handle a stretchy character like Dhalsim
Looks crappy and trashy even for a comic book game.
The only thing I don't like is the cape physics. For some reason, they really seem to be having a hard time animating capes. But I thought MK vs DC was a lot of fun, and I loved MK9, so I'm looking forward to this.
that actually looks pretty damn cool
especially how you can use the environment as a weapon
Bump, for the Doomsday gameplay trailer.
I'll wait for a demo
I really, really want this game to be good.
But I think MK9 and MKvDCU (and, for that matter, every MK game except II and UMK3) are terrible video games, so I have little faith.
A few weeks back I decided to engage in a media blackout and rent the game upon its release, trying my best to overlook its flaws.
I just wish it were a real fighting game studio involved like Arc or SNK or SEGA AM2, or even Harada's boys at Namco or what's left of Team Ninja. Fucking anyone but NR.
Oh well. It can't be worse than Justice League Task Force, right?
Colorado on lockdown.
I mentioned MK II and UMK3 as being good games, so obviously being tournament worthy isn't my only criteria for fun. Those games are far from Virtua Fighter, Garou, or Guilty Gear and I still enjoy them. I thought MK9 did a lot right from a content perspective but I just found it to be completely unappealing to play. Slow, clunky, full of glitches (I'm sure they patched most of them by now as I haven't played it since the game was new), stiff, puzzling interface choices.
Obviously I'm not the only one that feels this way, and I think even if you liked MK9 a bit of healthy skepticism about NR fighting games is in order considering Ed Boon's complete history.
All the animations look like shit to me. The trailers never make you sure if the game is in 2D, 2.5D, or 3D. That bothers me. Also, the fact that it'll be played with background triggered events or stage specific traps and bull shit or you can turn that crap off. I felt let down with Mortal Kombat 9, but I still thought it was okay, but I haven't played it since it was out for about 2 months. I should probably steer clear of Injustice. I'm not familiar with most of the DC heroes/villains, and I couldn't really give a shit about learning about them. Marvel just shits all over DC. I hope I'm wrong and the game kicks ass, but right now it looks like a pile of crap.
I just don't like the completely flat way it doesn't handle. More like a sheet of typing paper. "Like a sheet of tissue paper" would actually be an improvement.
You must be the only person who isn't sure. Especially since you've played MK9. I'm not sure what is confusing you.
Hooray for building your opinions on ignorance.
Hahaha.
I loved MK as a kid and if I met Ed Boon today I'd probably give him a big hug like long lost relative.
But even then I gotta say this game looks like a reskinned mk9 with some ancillary background interaction tacked on.
In its defense, I thought mk9 was an ok fighting game with pretty sweet single player content....so who knows, it might be fun...?
I'm having a hard time too, I really didn't like MK9 so I hope this game is not a new skin for MK9, and the thing is I really want to like this game.
I hope everything turns out ok.
I thought MK9 was a pretty radical improvement > MK vs DC. I actually thought that was worse than Armageddon tbh (which I quite liked, if I was honest. I enjoyed the create a character and story mode). If this Injustice is more like 9, that's a good thing imo...
A demo has been dated.
PS3 on April 2nd
360 on April 3rd
There really cranking out the trailers.I did enjoy what,ed boon and his team did with MK9.So i may check this fighter out.
Glad to see they'll be releasing a demo so I can give it a whirl. Hopefully they'll do the same with MK9 and keep updating the characters as time goes on. Like I said in my first post, I'd like to see them add Plasticman, Zatana, Doctor Fate, Black Canary and maybe Black or Blue Beetle as well.

The one thing that really bugs me about this game, because otherwise it looks like a lot of fun, is when one character pulls off a devastating, almost world shattering move on the other character, if it's not a K.O, the other character springs back up immediately like they just got slapped or something trivial. Everytime I've watched one of the vs. trailers, it's really bugged me...
So is Darkseid or Lobo gonna be in this thing or what?
Has any one tried the demo yet ?
Looks alright.
Just wondered if there is any correlation between those who learn to play the piano vs 30+ second combo strings in fighting games? Memorisation... Timing... etc??
Weren't Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe bad enough?
I'll play this just for the fact that Black Adam is in it. Black Adam is a bad motherfucker.

Leave it to the Ruskies to leak the final roster. Looks like Killer Frost for the villains and Aeries for the heroes. Kinda bummed that Zatana and Lobo didn't make the cut, but here's hoping their added in down the line as DLC.
The game is clunky, stiff, and as unresponsive as you'd expect from a Mortal Kombat team game. It's also dripping with style, has some great interactive background elements and after a few minutes of playing you sort of forget how bad it really is. It's unapologetic in its old school ways, but it's still a lot of fun for a limited amount of time. I'll rent it. Hate it. Keep playing it. Probably still hate it, but ultimately have fun with it. Then return it. ;)
Played the demo with an open mind. After playing for ten minutes, didn't think too much of it. It's like the last Mortal Kombat, but with stage specific interactivity. I don't see this lasting long. Which is what I pretty much thought in the first place.
If you like new shit, well, it's new. Maybe I'm too Capcommy?
SNK fighters for life though. This ain't it.

Besides the cape physics (or lack thereof), the thing that bothers me visually about this game is the lighting. Especially in regards to the characters' mouths. They all seem like they are carrying a lightbulb in their mouths, which gives the teeth a weird, backlit, almost translucent appearance. A lot of games seem to fall into this 'overlighting the mouth' trap, I guess because they really want us to see the teeth or whatever, but this game has it especially bad, imo.
Still really looking forward to the game, though.
Who's getting this when it drops tomorrow? I've been staying away from any videos and coverage of the game, other then the demo that was released and also playing it at the New York Comic Con. Ed Boon said that tonight at 7 they'd be announcing the first DLC character, not sure if that will change due to what happened this afternoon, but I hope they'll have the Main Man and Zatanna in the mix.
Guess I gotta double bump. Anybody else pick this up today? I just installed it and tried Raven in training mode. Since they ditched the block button I think I'm going to try playing this with a stick. I gotta figure out all the buttons because they don't pack the game with instructions. Also, the live stream event was canceled due to what happened in Boston so they said their going to wait to do the Superman Vs. Batman and the first DLC character, which people are saying it's going to be Lobo so get ready folks. I should be online for a good part of the night, just hit me up with an invite on Live and we'll go a round or two.
I want the game but I'm torn between buying it now or trying to wait the year until the inevitable Ultimate Edition with all the dlc and whatnot included.
I really liked MK9 and after watching some footage last night of this I'm probably going to pick it up for the PS3. Pretty bitchin roster.
Lobo was officially announced as the first DLC character the other day on the livestream. No gameplay was shown but he will use his trademark hook in the game.
I'm struggling to get the hang of this game. I started using the second controller preset because it seems to work a little bit better with a joystick while the first preset that seems to be made with controllers in mind. It's just me but I HATE fighting games that use generic weak, medium and strong attack buttons to punch and kick buttons. Stuff like Power Stone 2 and Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 & 3 it just bugs the hell out of me, especially when some of the challenges in S.T.A.R Labs are like, Only Win with Punches, but sometimes in a combo string they'll throw out kicks. I can see how they made it more Street Fighter fan friendly with holding back to block then using a button, but they also have the press two/three buttons for an instant super. It's also hard to try to get a hang of the meter burn button and when to use it. Some moves you think would have an enhanced version don't have one and I notice sometimes I'll do an enhanced move and I didn't even press the button.
Just like MK9 the story mode shines and is how you should do a story mode in a fighting game, Capcom better be taking notes. All the talk they did about Marvel 3 and this game does it ten times better with the characters trading jabs at each other. The clash system is fucking stupid. Why the hell would you want to break a combo to get 15% of your health back when you might get lucky and hit your super to take off more damage? Thankfully when you do make a clash, breakthrough a stage or use a super the timer stops, but I've never fought a match that got close to a timeout yet. I like the environments and being able to smash and destroy just about everything in it, ala Power Stone. The problem is if your playing with a character like Grundy or Superman you can take things and toss them for huge, unblockable damage while smaller characters like Batman and Flash hop over them. So you can try to learn combos or just hurl shit around.
Hopefully they'll patch the game up and give it what it needs. Haven't played it online yet, from what I hear everybody plays it cheesy with Deathstroke doing the same three moves over and over again and also if somebody rage quits you take a loss as well. Fun.
Buy this game it's so great. I love the story mode and the unique traits/meter burn/interactables/wager system. So much fun. And best of all it has the MK9 bone crunching sound effects that make each hit sound extremely painful.
Here's the Main Man. He'll be released on May 7th.
The rumor mill is going around saying the rest of the DLC cast will be Batgirl, Zod and Scorpion from Mortal Kombat. Don't see why they need BatGirl since there's already enough characters from Batman and unless they get Terence Stamp to play Zod again I don't care and I can see why they want to have a Mortal Kombat crossover character but there's way too many good DC comics characters to pass up on.
