I'm going to be published!

Not as exciting as it sounds, but I'm still pretty stoked about it. Was on a research team and I'm being included as a contributing author. It's going to in be a psychology journal (not like we're a real science anyway...) in the sometime recent future.

Has anyone else been published here? I know STK had his comic published, but not sure if anyone else.

Don't mean to sound like a gloating ass, but obviously it's a personal accomplishment.

i rarely get to use this word twice in one day, but congradudolences! (since its a pseudo-science anyways.)

I had a letter published in the student newspaper.

My dad was published in Smoke Signals, a Pontiac enthusiast magazine.

So, no not really published. Congrats. You'll have to continue getting published to make a living in Psychology ;)

My artwork was published in a 1995 issue of Gamefan. That's about it, lol

one time a project I was working on appeared in PC gamer magazine in the UK if that counts at all.

but I am not entirely proud as that project fell apart and I always regretted it.

i want to see this since i was envious of anyone who got their art put in a gaming magazine when i was a kid.

I've been in Juxtapoz, and Bound By Ink Magazine a few times.

I hope to get in some more magazines.

It's really fun to go into borders or the grocery store, pull out a magazine and see something that you made.

I remember when I was much younger I drew a picture of timone and pumba from the lion king all beat up and akuma in his usual badass back to the camera tokido pose with the text akuma matata. I thought I was so fucking clever and would win a prize for sure.... lol dumb kid.

I've been published in various contexts: I used to be a columnist for the Daily Trojan, Minnesota Daily and a small paper called the Downtown Journal. I'm one of three named inventors on one published patent application, and the sole inventor on another pending patent. I've written a section for an upcoming book about law school. I've had a few letters to the editor published in various papers, but they're more minor.

academic writing is a pain. It's something I'm only getting a grip on. To be able to completely remove yourself from a paper is really challenging for me as I love to add my 2 cents to damn near everything.

i've never been much of a writer(i get all kinds of cool ideas i just suck at writing). i draw sometimes but have never parted with anything. i actually drew a picture of some made up super hero that i was going to send to Marvel when i was a kid but then got sad thinking about parting with the piece so i ended up keeping it.

Good job!

One of my art pieces was published in Animerica magazine several years back. Not sure if that's an accomplishment, though.

I hate books like that where you can clearly tell each section is by different authors. Ran into several books like that through college and they always pissed me off. Sometimes there would be no attempt to make the book flow easily or at least bring the sections reading levels closer together. I mean no offense Bobak, most of the books I saw with this problem were medical lab books.

Eddie, how many times do I have to tell you, no matter how much you'd like it to be, a smutty sex story published in Penthouse doesn't count as psychology. :D

My comments on message boards back on gamers.com and 1up.com were published in various issues of EGM and OPM, and in the final issue of OPM I was mentioned as one of the long-time forum dudes.

I had an editorial posted in the local paper.

i had a book like that in multicultural counseling, but it wasn't each section. The book was a completely cut up of different materials so each paragraph was a different author from the last. I never got past chapter 1 it was such a mess

My daughter was actually published in a book, can't remember the title, something along the lines of Youth Poetry...

Congratulations Alex, that is awesome. I wonder if I could get my cognitive neuroscience research paper published (from last semester) as well... how did you go about doing it?

My professor said that if we did well on the final research paper that they were worthy of publishing, and I got 100% on it. And thats coming from a guy who has published numerous books and is highly regarded in his field. (Dr. Matthew J. Sharps, if you're interested.)

It's not that kind of book. It's from a much longer chapter where various attorneys talk about the entire law school process from their perspectives and the route they took to get to where they are in their career.

I also forgot to add: I've had my photos published in various sources, including a few books and by organizations such as NHK and the Vancouver Olympics. I usually ask for a copy of that kind of work so I can add to a small collection I have.

I was on a research team, I did the coding of answers (the qualitative measure, not the quantitative measure since that is just plug into SPSS derp derp results), data organization, and proof-reading.

Look for some journals that publish material in the area of the subject of your paper and look to see how to submit the paper. Submit it and wait to hear back, most likely they'll say "revise and resubmit" which is just a bunch of vague bullshit that doesn't say a lot. I'd say from there ask a prof to read it if they are willing to (really varies on the professor) and ask for any comments or critiques they can offer. They're experienced and likely are published themselves and know what to look for. From there just keep trying.

Congrats on the publications, never noticed the thread before.

I was published 3-4 times, can't remember exactly. All were fluids related, one garden variety stuff and the others were supersonic combustion. I was building computational models of supersonic aircraft combustion chambers at the time. It was actually kinda fun. A couple of them were presented at an annual aerospace conference in Vegas but I was busy so someone else did it for me.
