lol /me is pirating asap.
Sega better not ever release Shenmue 3. I'm running out of overly delayed games to make fun of.
The IGN early review is not very favorable.

I generally don't put too much stock in IGN reviews though.
I think the people who wanted duke nuken 3d more of the same will be happy. Anyone wanted a modern day fps will be let down.
They should of really just stuck to all old school and had health packs and let you carry all your weapons at once.
the big issue of Duke is with the PC version. Top of the line machines are having issues simply RUNNING the game, which is a very, VERY bad thing. Gearbox shouldn't have tried to finish it..
I saw the "extended trailer" before South Park this week and as someone who never played this game (my avid FPS days were Wolfenstein 3D to Doom 2) it looked kind of "meh". I realize the actual in-game experience may be superior to just watching a trailer, though. It's just whoever cut it didn't do a good job: they seemed to rely too much on what older fans would remember and wasted time showing in-game video that looked like it was from a game several years ago.
lol
Get fucking real. Im calling you out on your complete bullshit. My m11x plays this thing on max settings effortlessly and smoothy. 1.3ghz intel core 2 duo. If you're still using a dual core and gaming you need to stfu and gtfo. Game runs perfectly on anything with a pos 9600 GT and dual core cpu. If you're on i3 5 7 or a amd 2 4 or 6 core cpu with anything as old as 3750 or 8800 gt this is gonna run like butter.
I have the game and have put about 2-3 hours into it.
My first impressions after playing the game I was a little disappointed, Its never going to live up to the hype but that does not mean its a bad game.
You can tell that if this were to have come out say 5 or so years ago it would be amazing but things have moved on from alot of the ideas that DNF brings. That said its a breath of fresh air compared to the A-B gameplay of titles such as COD.
The game looks pretty bad overall but some areas look great. But its all about the gameplay and it feels like a big game, its also pretty hard. From what I can make out so far there are no levels like Duke 3D per say where you would start and hit a button at the end, the game just keeps going location to location.
The humour is great as well as all the little objects that can be messed around with. We all new that this was never going to live upto the 14 or whatever year wait but it doesn't matter, its DNF and we can play it for what it is...
Its an old school shooter, that plays well, is crudely funny and enjoyable.

I watched all the trailers on the official website and saw nothing extraordinary. Frame rate seemed low. Animation of human characters didn't seem that natural. Monsters really didn't look all that interesting. Textures and environments seemed far from the best of what's currently on consoles...maybe even slightly below what is common now. What it seems to have going for it are the name and the trademark humor.
I have an Intel Core 2 Duo with 4gb of ram and a geforce 9800 gtx+ and this game runs like ass on it. It's not like the video that was shown, but it looks like shit and stutters randomly. I've run a lot more graphic-intensive games than this with no problems so I don't know what the problem is. I know my setup isn't top of the line, but it should be way more than enough to handle this game.
Everyone who's having this issue is using the graphic card to force a set anti alasing instead of using the games built in ones. Its idiots who dont know what they're doing fucking up their settings. As always people make a big deal out of nothing. This game runs on a toaster.
This is a pretty odd thing to get so angry about, and you're one of the people who aren't even having the problem.
This is really all I want out of the game, if I feel the same then I will be happy. Game design being out of date doesn't bother me, as the only modern FPS that I actually like is Halo: Reach. My 360 has probably logged more time playing Doom and Duke 3D than every other shooter combined.
I really hope all the negative reviews it's getting doesn't hurt it too bad in the overall scheme of things. I really want to see this game succeed. I think too many people are trying to compare it to Halo or Call of Duty, which just isn't fair.
Yes, it's basically a 12 year old game that's "stuck in the past", but that's fine with me. As a fan of old school PC FPS games like Doom, Quake, Wolfenstien, Hexen, and of course, Duke, I'm very much looking forward to it. Even if it's a cheesy and simple nostolgia fest, I'll enjoy it for what it is.
what? no.
A video game with crude jokes about pissing and sex was shock value 15 years ago, now it's just....
I don't put much faith into professional reviews, but pretty much everyone I've found has been pretty brutal to it.
I have been playing the game It has a really fun feel to it and it's very nostalgic. Sure it's a old concept from n64 days But I have been playing so many competitive games and wrapping my brain in ST that I haven't stopped to enjoy anything and this was really refreshing and funny and it's a very good game when you just need to relax.
I have had this since Friday, been playing the campaign and multiplayer, I like the campaign a lot, the graphics are a mixed bag of OK and awful, and the controls are a bit flaky however I am really enjoying myself. Lots of fun to be had messing around (just wait till you get to 'Duke's Titty City!').
Multiplayer is very old school, but its pretty addictive and has been a lot of fun to just pick up and frag people for the odd 30 mins or so.
Some funny easter eggs and references to other games (and DN3D of course) Its a rough diamond and worth a look if you love DN3D.
Bit pissed that his 'Boot' move isnt there tho.:shame:
Well the IGN review speaks to the quality of their site as usual. I'm sure the final version has to be better than a 5.5!
i picked this up yesterday. i think if you don't expect it to set the fps world on fire you'll enjoy it. im happy with it , i think people just like to bitch about silly things. for me its just mindless shoot everything in site fun.
This kinda reminds me of how everyone seems to dislike Wolfenstein 2009, but I personally enjoyed the hell out of playing it. Sure, it could have used a few more guns maybe and slightly more polished graphics.
I will get the game when it goes down within the year. Something tells me it will be $30 within 3 months easy... just like what happened to Front Mission Evolved. Money is kinda tight right now and haven't been forking out 60 bucks for new games that much lately. Last new games as they were released that I bought are Dead Space 2 and L.A. Noire for the PS3. After I got my PS3 this January, I bought 8 of my games used. Most of them on the real cheap and in perfect condition.
Was there any word on what gearbox was working with? Considering they got the game out so quickly it couldn't have been from scratch. I wonder if they even knew what they were getting into when they bought DNF
Kotaku was pretty brutal as well. :(
I was thinking of Day Oneing this. But I think I'm gonna wait it out and keep buying Sega Saturn games instead.
Best Buy should be having some gift card stuff. Amazon is doing their 10$ credit thing.
I'll get it eventually but even after 15 years I don't feel a hurry.
Played it today (pirated it) for about 10 minutes. Wasn't enough to keep me interested for any longer. Graphical glitches out the ass. You'd think you could work out the bugs given 15 fucking years of development.
It's ok for an old school FPS feel, but paying $60 for something that feels like it came out 10 years ago isn't worth it. Game should of been a d-load.
JESUS people it's "THE DUKE" play it/accept it for what it is and have fun. Just sit down and have fun dammit!
This game is fucking awesome as long as you play games for enjoyment and not for graphical dick measurement. Yes the facial animations are fucked up but otherwise the character models look less chunky than the shit Treyarch coughed up for Blops. The game seems better on a whole than the demo that was released a few weeks ago...seems like the polish time paid off. As always, HATERS GONNA HATE
Picked it up at the Gamestop midnight launch. About four hours into so far. I can see where people complain that it's not "Halo or CoD enough", and it definitely plays like a 90s FPS, but I'm still enjoying it for nostalgia factor and of course Duke being Duke is hilarious. I thought the Halo reference when getting the Ripper was pretty funny.
On a side note, I was surprised to see that the people at my Gamestop were mostly kids that probably either weren't born yet when Duke came out or at most, toddlers. Yet these are the same type of kids that will bash it for not being like Gears, CoD, or Halo.
Have I heard correctly that the ps3 version runs better than the 360 version? I'd rather use the 360 controller, but if the ps3 version is better I'll grab it.
Totally seconded, play it with the right frame of mind and it's a lot of fun. Kudos to the original dev team as they had to basically spend a year working from home to try and get the content into something that resembles a playable game. :( Being a game developer myself I really feel for those guys!
One real criticism. I think the game should have been released at a lower price point. That alone would have shut up those who have excessive amounts of sand in their vaginas!
I downloaded the pc version and gave it a go.
I had a black screen initially. But I went into my nvidia control panel and turned off global anti-aliasing and let duke take over and it ran like a champ. I played through the first 3 levels, and honestly I don't think there's need for all the hate. It was fun and looked kindy hokey (the characters animated badly) but honestly I think it's part of the appeal. If this had come out 10 years ago it'd be perfect. Now it just feels retro. And I think that's a good thing. I think it's worth a purchase if you can get a deal etc, probably not worth $60, I'd value it at about $40.
