Anyone have BAD neighbors? (ignorant, White Trash, Pigs, Drug Dealers, ETC...)

I moved into this house back in August of '07 - to my north was an old couple, very nice.

On the South was a very nice brick house, owned by a friendly teacher, but the house was for sale.

A couple weeks later she moved.

I was sitting on my neighbors porch one afternoon when this piece of shit truck just pulls in the drive way - 3 fatasses get out, hook a rope around a bush in the front yard, get back in the truck and floor it. Bush doesnt move.

He kept trying and trying to pull the bush out with his truck and eventually gave up, then drove off.

I knew right then that this was gonna be trouble.

A week later this white trash shithole of a family moves in.

Mom, dad, 4 fat girls.

All over 200lbs except for the youngest who is still thin somehow.

So we meet them, and immediately the mother tells us how 2 of the girls tried to commit suicide and 1 was raped, and another was in a psychward.

They are very fucked up.

Their yard is a pigsty.

The 2 older girls, now 22 and 18, dropped out of school.

I have no idea hosw they managed to get the house.

I live in a nice neighborhood.

They have shit EVERYWHERE in their yard.

They have 28 rabbits, 5 cats, 2 dogs, 4 rats and a gerbil.

They stole ducks from the pond in the back of a WalMart.

They leave trash in the driveway.

Never rake the leaves.

All they eat is Taco Bell.

2 weeks ago I had to call the police because the one girl cut the grass with a tractor they rented on the lowest setting and kept turning it around in my yard, taking my grass down to the dirt and chopping up my tree roots.

I asked them nicely to clean it up, to which they answered "pfft".

So my cop buddy made them come out and clean their shit up.

They are terrible people.

Does anyone else have a piece of shit neighbor?

I've called the heath department, zoning, the police and nobody can do anything.

And i have to be legal in this situation. Can't do anything with my family living here.

What can I do?

My parent last neighbors where drug dealers. They constantly had about 6 or 7 cars just parked in the yard. People sitting in cars in the drive way at all hours of the night. They'd throw beer cans into other peoples yards. Eventually after months the land lord got the evicted. The place was in such bad shape she had to take out the walls and replace them in many places. The disk wash had to be thrown away and all the flooring had to be replaced. The place was so fucking bad they wore mask then they where doing the work. It amazes me how some people can live like that.

See if you can pin them with video evidence. That's about all that I can think of. Either video or audio. Have a recorder handy and talk to them. If you can't do that, then get the neighborhood to rally with you. I've had neighbors like that before and i'm dealing with these hoodrats that are living across the street too.

I think they were probably able to get such a nice house because of the whole Section 8 deal. These people move out of their shitty settings and bring their crap with them. It's effed up how we're paying for that too. :(

Clessy: I have people like that in my neighborhood too. They act as if they own a car wash service and little league football but they're dealing drugs.

I have been there, and it is tough to live next to trash.

All you can really do is watch them like a hawk, and call in every possible offense you legally can.

Anything you can call the cops on them for.. do it. Any code violation. Anything at all. If you make them miserable enough maybe they will move out.

Are they renting the place?

What a nightmare. Not much you can do man, except sit back and wait for them to mess up. My guess is that they will let the property fall into such disrepair, that they will be violating building codes. First comes a citation from the town council followed by eviction, but thats only if they don't repair anything after being cited. DIY home improvement is the most common building code violation, keep an eye out for that.

Does your subdivision have any deed restrictions? If it does, they will most certainly break those restrictions and you can report them for that.

Worst I have is one of the units next to me leash their child. Like you know, walk the kid around on one of those harnesses. That's pretty offensive right there. Other than that no, in fact I come from a family that probably IS that neighbor, the one with the stuff everywhere. Soon as I could move I did because there was no breaking the habits.

Get together with your good neighbours. Work together to get the assholes out of your neighbourhood. Everyone needs to call the cops every time your neighbour makes any little violation. Soon they'll be getting fined each time the cops have to show up.

I have some shitty neighbours who are seriously pissing off the OG old guard of my neighbourhood and are headed for some bad shit.

I've had two people in the neighborhood move away because of one family. They moved in about 10 years ago. The father is a state trooper who just watches DVDs in his cruiser all day. He gets all his money from his mother, who owns a huge pastry store in Boston's North End. They're super Italian. They've quieted down over the years - some neighbors used to call the cops all the time - but maybe it just has seemed like that since I haven't been home as much.

My first place in Vegas was just plain scary. A few weeks after I moved in, I got a knock on the door around 3am. I had no idea who the guy was or what he wanted, so I didn't answer the door. He kept knocking for a good five minutes until my cat jumped into the window (I already called the cops and our security patrol). He took off after that.

In my second place, the people who lived just below me had screaming matches. They were abusive to each other and were so loud my next-door neighbors could hear them. I was about to call the cops on them but they moved out before I had the chance.

My current place is pretty cool, but I don't like my next-door neighbors for petty reasons. They take up a good chunk of the covered parking, and I swear there's like 3 families living there, too.

i have an old lady(early 50's) in the loft next door that has terriers. They bark at the slightest noise and she doesnt give a shit.
I left passive aggressive notes on her door to manage her dogs....

now i just jump up and down in front of her door until the dogs shut up.... she has to know it is me, but no one has said anything...


my next plan of action is cayenne pepper at the edge of her door cuz that's where the dogs bark.

that wont do shit , except the cops having slower and slower response times. the only time having and association would sort of helpful otherwise you cant do shit. the sooner you get that in your head the better off you will be. Unless you are willing to commit a crime there is nothing you can do.

Yeah, I've been to Tonks and seen his neighbors habitat first hand. They're fucking disgusting, he's not bullshitting.

Their lawn was full of dog shit, sticks, branches, a deflated kiddy pool, knocked over cement fountain, broken lawnmower, misc. kids toys, I think there was a fridge, maybe some bricks and cinder blocks, a whole bunch of other shit.

They have to know that everyone else in the area hates them.

Mike you should check the tax records for the property and see if they actually own the land. If they're renting it they probably just pay someone under the table and the actual owner is completely unaware of the state of the property.

The worst we ever had was a neighbor that drove his dirtbike around on the weekends.

Hooray for living out in the country where nobody gives a fuck about their neighbors.

I've never had any terrible neighbors, but had a few interesting ones to say the least.

For awhile I had middle eastern neighbors who on the night of 9/11 threw a party at inside their house. Arab music blasting, cheering and dancing long into the night. The next day I called one of them over when he was in his driveway and asked him what the hell they were celebrating about last night. Dude got nervous as fuck, but said it was his friend's wedding that day. Couple of days later one of my friends confronted another guy living in the house near his mailbox and that guy said it was someone's birthday.

My buddy knew what the other guy had told me and instantly called the guy out. The dude quickly went back into his house and they moved out a couple of days later.

The next people to rent the house was a leather daddy gay couple. Guys were into hardcore kink and they made BDSM gear as a side job. Sometimes on the weekends at night you'd seem them coming and going wearing leather chaps, the strap chest harness. leather cap....etc.

For a brief span growing up we had neighbors who had a 50 year old retarded woman named Debbie living there. She looked more like 60, but acted about 6. Sometimes she'd come running out of the house wearing brightly colored sun dressing yelling "here come Debbie !!!"

when i was living away in Liverpool as a student may years ago now i naturally lived in the cheapest most run down area that i could find for my money so that my beer fund wasnt affected too much, one year i moved into a terraced street with student friends where our terraced house was the only one of five on the street that were still inhabited out of about 30 houses, the rest were boarded up, derelict or burnt out.

on the street there was a middle aged couple a few doors down who were alcoholics and drug addicts, they always looked visibly ill, there clothes were always ripped or stained and when they realised students had moved into the street they were constantly trying to get into our house to either drink or steal whatever was in the house, they were succesfull on the first occasion as my girlfriend at that time thought they were friendly neighbours and let them in before realising they were nipping the toilet alot and trying to ransack all the rooms at the same time.

after calling the police on them this just made them hell bent on causing us as much inconvenience as possible, they threw rocks at our cars, if you left the house they started shouting every obscenity they could at you and we quickly realised that there wasnt much you could do to stop them as the police could lock them up on evry occasion but they would still live back at the address after it and were not bothered by the courts or prison.

after living there for a few months i woke up early one morning to the sound of police sirens, looked out of my bedroom window to see the male of this couple lying flat on his back in a pool of blood, i was told later that his partner had more or less gutted him and at the time i could see his stomach wound was huge and he had already died or passed out from the blood loss, while she got led away by the police a few minutes later still screaming at him as he lay on the floor. the street was alot quieter after that anyway.

when i was a kid we lived in the ghetto so several of the houses were like that. this didn't bother me so much, and we moved out of there when i was about 6 and i don't remember or care too much about the neighbors. looking back i know there was one crack house which was a gutted shell of a house where the dealers dealt. and there was another house where kids played basketball all night and day, and eventually a big cadillac or mercedes pulled into the drive, put the window down, and then would drive off. they must have been higher up on the dealing chain. but we moved from the ghetto, and really most of the neighbors weren't bad there. and the two that were kept to themselves and didn't try to rob us or anything like that as we'd been in the hood a long time, and everyone knew my mom and stepdad we were established in the community i guess. but we moved to the burbs and things changed.

at first we had some fine neighbors there nothing to worry about. and now the neighbors are okay enough. but when i was about 12 we had these neighbors who were just awful. on either side of us in fact. on one side was this trucker, who'd park his big rig in the street and it would block part of our drive way. he had a confederate flag hanging from the house, a swastika tattooed to his neck, and was a general racist. and his house was between us (a hispanic family) and the indian people who lived on the other side of them. so we were all worried they'd do something well evil. they had an army of chihuahuas, and two fat sons who were just as racist as their parents. i rode bikes with them once as they were new to the neighborhood and i thought i'd get to know em. they were terrible kids. called me mexican and said they'd be watching to make sure i don't rob them. they threatened to beat me up a couple times. and i was glad my parents sent me to private school because had i gone to school with them that would have been an inevitability. the only saving grace for the whole lot of those racist fuckheads was the wife was normal, adjusted, and knew they were all idiots. she'd come over and talk to my mom regularly. and apologize for her family's actions. one of our cats wound up drinking some anti-freeze they'd spilled all over their driveway. because they were always working on some shitheap of a car and not cleaning up anything. our cat died, and my mom always said they'd killed her on purpose. they moved out eventually and that house remained empty for years til the current couple moved in. a married couple in their early 30's who keep to themselves.

the neighbors on the other side were terrible too. but of a different nature. they had about 30 people living in a three bedroom house. constant parties, constant noise, and a huge tent in the back yard. cars parked up and down the street, trash everywhere, and the bad music never shut off. they had an old african lady living there who would race to the mailbox whenever the postman came. i don't know what she was doing there. but she was just another of the 20-30 people living there. in tents, in rooms, in bathtubs, god only knows. all i know is i was glad when their lease was up and they left.

When I as growing up there were always these weird neighbors next door. First off we believed that they were perverts then after they moved out some weird vampire people moved in. I say this because they would never come out during the day and during the night the would go into the backyard, bang on drums and yell some sort of "magical spells" or something while smoking pot and other substances. They moved out after a couple of years of doing that. To this day I don't think I ever saw them and I still think they were vampires lol

My attached neighbors (I live in a duplex) do careless shit like toss cigarette butts wherever they feel like, & refuse to train their rude puppy.

The people directly across the street sometimes make too much noise after 10pm-loud cars & motos burning out & staging, booming systems...I've got babies @ home trying to sleep, so I'll walk right up to them. Don't even bother to ask them to cut it out-just ring the Police right in front of them as I smile.

Pretty minor in comparison to people POACHING DUCKS. The fuck, man? Lol...they can't be that hungry & afford to be in a house.

I think we need to determine a few things before proceeding with advice.

Biggest is if they bought the home or just renting it. If renting it, I would go straight to the landlord/owner and complain to them. However I am guessing they bought the house since I can't imagine the female teacher sold it to someone who turned immediately around and rented it out in that short a period of time.

Do you pay any kind of association due's to a community? Good chance those assholes aren't paying and even if they are many communities have a list of rules that home owners MUST follow otherwise they can bring a world of home ownership pain down on the people.

If you don't live in this kind of community, does your area have a city council meeting? I would bring up the issue with them. However, I wouldn't stress the new neighbors as simply being noisy or inconsiderate. They probably wouldn't care one way of the other if you are simply annoyed. No, I would approach this from the angle that they are keeping the property trashy, home is ill maintained (anyone who keeps their yard like that probably doesn't maintain the inside of the house either... especially with that many animals) and most importantly they are bringing DOWN the property value of all nearby neighbors homes. You might need to get some of the other neighbors on board with this. Everyone knows that a trashy, shit hole house next door brings their property value down and in this economy the last thing you want is some asshat who doesn't take care of his property to drive your investment down the crapper.

What happens if a couple years down the road you decide to sell and find out no one wants to buy your property cause they don't want that circus next door to be included in the deal? Then you are fucked. I would address this issue before it gets any further out of control. While I doubt you can just get them kicked out, I am sure you mostly want them to act like normal, decent neighbors who respect their property and others as well.

I live in an older neighborhood in a nice quiet college town. When house prices skyrocketed, most of the trash sold and got out. Then more well off people could barely afford to move here. Then the market tanked and they are all stuck here. Then the people who lived in my house lost it due to property taxes. Then I swooped in and bought the house between Christmas and New Years when nobody was looking and got it cheap :D I live besides a painter, who has his kids and his mom living there. A family with 3 little kids..wife is a theology teacher at a catholic HS and the husband works behind a desk fr some company. A lady across the street that does a bunch of fishing and has nice kids. Then a lady that is retired and use to work for the local office of education. Then there's my wife and I. Dental Assistant and me being a first grade teacher. That's pretty much the court I live on. Good place. Only thing I don't like is that we just kind of talk a bit and wave at times. I replaced my fence with the painter guy. Other than that, nobody is really "Friends", which I miss from when I was a kid. Block parties etc...

I do have a buddy who's neighbors would steal his packages and trashed everything. They rented a big house made into flats where they shared a basement. They would take/break his shit all of the time and just deny it. They just got evicted and the house is being gutted. He's SO HAPPY! It just took a while.

Ohh, I thought you meant older as in elderly.

I had some really messed up, scary neighbors a couple of years back. I really liked the apartment I was in too, the rent was good, I liked the neighborhood, landlady was like family even. But you can only take so much where you live, and it's better to move out sometimes if you can afford to.

I remember the week it happened too, and of course it had to be right next door and not down the hall or just upstairs or anything. It was like "fuuuuuuuck". I didn't even stick around long enough for them to actually 'do' anything to harm me or my girlfriend either, why wait and put yourself at risk? This family (and I have no idea what our landlady was thinking, wtf?) was what you're supposed to call these days 'African American'. I am not a racist, I just want to live in a safe environment, especially for my girl. Once you get a group of them in a place, it's pretty much an invitation to the rest. I'd live in South Los Angeles if I wanted to be in that sort of an environment where I'd be stressed.

I guess you could say it was a preemptive move on my part. I got no regrets whatsoever- my new place isn't as good, but it's almost as good. Such is life.

With any luck they'll put a couple Pontiac Fiero's on cinderblocks in the yard. It takes a couple year's work, but usually you can piece together 1 working car like that.


We had some funny ones, just not really close by. They're probably a mile from here, but I used to pass it every day. Actually, they had the 2 Fiero's...

Anyways, i guess their house got too old or something. They built a second house in the back yard. Over the course of a year or so, they slowly moved from house A to house B. Eventually the old house got torn down, and now they have this huge front yard with a house way back. Like all the other houses on the street are pretty much the same distance from the curb, then there's this 1 that looks like someone fucked up and dropped it in the wrong spot.

In the building I live, there are some flats for rent, and occasionally bad people come here... hell, this is a respectful and quiet building.

When you start hearing loud music going on day and night, TV loud day and nigh, you know some ass shithole has come.

Fortunately this don't last forever, as this kind of people don't remain here many time, but I can tell usually they were little drug dealers, pickpocket... bad people always in troubles.

I remember a familiy with the head being one of such fucktards who came to live just below me: music and TV loud 24 hours at day, so I could not sleep at night, and for my work I needed to drive a long distance by car every day, so it was hell for me.

Loads of calls to the police by all neighbours finally seemed to decide that assholes to leave: thanks God!
