So it will have leveling as well huh.I shouldn't be surprised, vanillaware has did it before with odin sphere and muramasa the demon blade.

I saw that they have this playable at EVO this weekend. For any of the folks there, how's the magic users? Hopefully you don't have to weed through the sub menus and hopefully the whole game doesn't stop every single time somebody casts a spell.
I don't even know how that chick magic user can stand upright, let alone cast spells.
I'll be picking this up eventually, and when I do it's 99% likely that it'll be the Vita version. This seems like the kind of game I'd be more willing to play while on the go. Hard to will myself to play Guardian Heroes HD or Phantom Breaker BG when I have a ton of other console games vying for my attention.
That piece of meat looks yummy.
This game is taking so damn long to come out.
What's the deal with the cooking mini-game? Is that how you make potions to boost stats? Temporarily or Permanently? Maybe for one stage?
I take it this will be your first Kamitani game, but typically theres a cooking system in his games. Odin Sphere (I dont think it's possible to beat Odin Sphere without the cooking system) and Princess Crown were more reliant on it than Muramasa: The Demon Blade.. but judging by past games, I'm assuming it will be for health potions, stat boosts, etc..
I just casually beat Muramasa on Vita, and I actually didnt cook anything or forge any new swords during the entire game...so they are probably not integral functions in Dragon's Crown either...
But perhaps they lead to different endings, so worth exploring (pretty sure that you can get different endings depending on blades used in Muramasa). I'll be playing through Muramasa again and will certainly give both cooking and forging a shot then.
To actually beat muramasa requires unlock all bosses in the game you have to unlock all the swords. You can definitely beat a characters story without doing so. Cooking definitely speeds up the process, but it still isn't necessary for survival.
Odin Sphere was such a pain in the butt, because if I remember correctly... the only way to get health pots was to cook 'em yourself. It also didn't help that my ps2 "virtual" memory on my card kept getting corrupted.
I actually relied on it for leveling in muramasa: the demon blade too, but the cooking systems are my least favorite part of kamitani games which is why I hope it plays a very minor role in dragon's crown - which is should seeing as it's a co-op game that would be slowed down by each person cooking.
still... even after finding out that there is some sort of cooking system in the game, it's still my most anticipated game of this year behind dodonpachi saidaioujou (already released).
Everyone knows that what's selling this game is that chicks bouncing TIG'Ole Bitties!!
Oh, and the graphics are cool too.
I'm hoping this game will be arcade stick/cabinet friendly.

Sick.
Love that they're incorporating elements from hack 'n loot games. Looking forward to unlocking that dungeon.
My Dwarf is ready.

4 hours of Dragon's Crown
http://ja.twitch.tv/hamayama/b/434083566
I can't get over how gorgeous this game looks.
Looks like they finally fixed everything wrong with magic characters. I prefer the risk/reward of having to charge up spells then totally running out of them in Shadow. Also, THANK GOD the whole game doesn't stop whenever a spell is cast.
Agreed that's one thing i was annoyed by in d&d som.Running out of spells was a pain, and if you used the magicuser his melee attacks are useless. Not to mention how casting a spell interrupt other players actions.Good to know dragon's crown will not have this problem.I just hope dc will have a good netcode the last thing i don't need is lagg etc.
Rumor that the stages have to be beaten offline/local before they can be played online.
Well it probably won't take as long as Warriors Orochi 3 to complete them all first time, even though it's said first playthrough could be about 16 hours.
some importers share tips
Quote:
1. How to cook.
Cooking is triggered when you attempt to run consecutive dungeons without returning to town. Its random.
a. Click on a food item.
b. Click on a cooking pot/pan
c. Click on a seasoning (3 of them per spread, bottom right corner). Use each of them in turn. All 3.
d. Click on the pot/pan with the food
e. Mouse over the pot/pan. If applicable click on the left icon
f. If left icon does not exist click on the right icon
g. Click on your plate, It must be the one in order. If you're the leftmost player, its the leftmost plate.
No click drags or such is needed but I had a lot of trouble figuring it out. Someone else might have trouble too.
2. Chain runs.
You get a random bonus every time you do a consecutive dungeon run without going back to town. The bonus can range from +xp/score, +gold, +droprate, etc. They stack addictively and a long chain of dungeons will give really huge bonuses that continue increase for the next run.
What can go wrong? Well you can freeze. Some people have noted PS3 freezes. I personally got one over the last 20 hours. When that happens you lose all the loot, all the gold, all the xp, all everything. Fairly rare though.
3. Why didn't my chest give me loot
Your thief has a chance to fail his lockpick on chests. This decreases with his level. When he fails a trap goes off and you don't a single loot!
4. Bags
You buy them from the magic tool shop. 2k ea. Seem to restock every time I leave and come back to town. This allows you to assemble multiple sets of gear which is essential for long chain dungeon runs when your gear starts to break and if you're a caster, you're running out of spell charges. Try and assemble a 9 set ASAP.
This only is avaliable after the guildmaster gives you a bag.
5. Runes.
Assembling a 3 runes together can give special bonuses and are essential for unlocking secret doors and getting high quality chests. You can use runes once you do the rune quests and the wizard gives you your first rune.
There are only 4 player runes avaliable. One is given as mentioned above. The other 3 are bought from the wizard. Once you've bought all 3 you can make any non quest runeword in the game. Strongly recommended to save for these ASAP.
6. NPC system
You can find bones in dungeons that if you can bring back to the church to raise as NPC allies. Warning you cannot repair their gear and if they die in battle and you choose not to pay for their continue they totally disappear forever. They have poor AI but are still pretty ok as long as it doesn't involve moving out of the fire and all. Pretty important for sorcs imo, unless you really like chipping and kiting.
7. Coop system.
Once you've visited the first 9 dungeons you get a popup message that says you can use the coop matchmaker. The first option is random coop, the second is invite coop. Any player you coop with will leave an NPC in the inn for you to use later. You don't need to raise them. If they're in broken gear, that won't change too so that's a problem.
8. Inn options.
You can set the party members to join you immediately. If not they join randomly during your game. If you use triangle you can disable joining so you can solo in peace. This is actually needed for some quests.
9. Tips
a. Burying bones in the church gives you a chance to get a random item they have equipped.
b. You can only equip one of each item. Eg. 1 necklace, 1 ring.
c. Healing potions can be bought from the Magic Shop and are recommended
d. Food buffs hp to a maximum of 150%
e. Cooking buffs do not seem to have a limit
f. After you get 9 runestones, the last boss is at the gate. Look for a rune.
g.You need to kill a boss before the timer ends to get a runestone
h. Spellcharges for casters take up an inv slot.

Thought I'd bump it to let you folks know I made a thread in Online for both versions so go ahead and feel free to add yourself. I'm going on vacation on Saturday the 10 for the week so I hope you guys will still be online. (which kinda makes me bad for making the thread since I won't be able to update it...sorry.)
I have the 6th off so I'll be playing the PS3 version by early afternoon.
Epicnamebro look at the game,he is know for his dark souls video.Still he plays other video games as well.
I tried it out on Vita yesterday, and I'm impressed. The animations are smooth, the controls are fluid, and the environments are gorgeous; They've got a dynamic foreground/mid-ground/background setup to them where the different planes scroll according to where you walk to give greater depth-of-feel.
When I jumped in, I didn't know the game had 'friendly fire', and while I was told it doesn't affect health, it affects other things like character conversations and attitudes (or so I'm told). I really only had a couple of minutes to try it out, but I'm even more excited for the game now; the videos, of which I've only watched a couple to be fair, don't do the game justice.
So is this out in the US yet? I will buy it on PSN if so, game shops are a no-go for me.
Can't wait. This is one of the few games which may pull me out of the gaming dry spell I've been in.
Just got my shipping notice from amazon. I dont think I've ever grabbed any "Friends" on PSN, so I'll be looking for folks when I get some time with this game.
Mine's been "Shipping Now" all day. I think it's because there's a DVD coming out on the 6th that I ordered for my niece and they want to bundle the two of them together, so I think that's what the holdup's been. Glad I preordered it back in April. My total price with tax is cheaper then the base price now. Also, I'm glad to see it's the number one selling game now on Amazon. Hopefully it sells well and maybe we'll see a comeback of 2D Brawlers.
Gamespot gave the game 8 out of 10.
They listed "Some offensive and unavoidable character designs" as a downside. LOL.
I've been looking around and there are a lot of really positive reviews.
I kinda hope this game gets DLC, but only because I want more beautiful 2D beat'em up goodness.
waiting until thursday is going to be rough. You guys should list your accounts so we can all add each other. Mine is Kiel_
Just a heads up but you have to play through the first 9 (not sure on the specific number) areas before you can unlock online co-op on each individual character. I heard for competent players that's around 90 minutes of playing.
