MGS and Zone of the Enders HD collections coming this November
-
MGS i've played a million different times. ZOE I never really cared for.
The collections look nice.
Look at how tight Hideo's shirt is!
Also he keeps say the PS3 is "Transferring" enabled... What is that?
Silent Hill!? wooooo!
Silent Hill 2 and 3 already look very good running in PC modes. (SH3 especially)
But I really wish a proper re-mastered version of Silent Hill 1 would be made. (I don't count shattered memories)

Its something to do with transferring PS3 saves to PSP titles, like with Peace Walker for example.
-
Why on earth wouldnt the Silent Hill set be 1-3? Unless it because SH1 was a PS1 title. Either way it looks like im gonna be revisiting those titles when these collections drop.
And yeah I hope they add trophies lol.
O.

*Head explodes*
Looking forward to booth MGS and ZOE in HD.
-
Take my money Konami. Do it NOW
-
hmmm no MGS1 huh, I wonder if they have other plans for that one....
-
are those shots on the monitor shots of snake eater? hmm

It's probably excluded for being a PSone game. Also apart of the PSone Classics on PSN for $6. I would have liked to have seen Twin Snakes take it's place though
-
Wow... What a terrible video! Where's Suda's new stuff?
-
I'm in for SH collection and of course MGS. I never finished ZOE 1 or played 2 so this is a chance to fix that

That's what I thought too. But evidently the HD remixes are just higher res, no new modeling...as far as these shots show...

Metal Gear Solid Collection HD + Silent Hill Collection HD =
http://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/...o/iamready.png
Peace Walker was one of the best PSP games ever, so I'm glad to see it making the jump. The data sharing is cool as well. All the recruits and items you have can be transferred between the PS3 and PSP versions.
Since you can play the PSP games on PS3 via adhoc party, I can see the game being a viable solution to the pain in the ass that is Metal Gear Online.
-
Metal Gear Solid collection-played them so many times that I don't think I can do it again. Will probably skip, but they're definitely worth the price of admission.
ZOE colelction-pass. I have no desire to return to those games. Played them once. Enjoyed them. Don't care beyond that. Would GLADLY play a third one, though.
Silent Hill Collection-3 sucked, IMO, so I don't see the collection as being worth it. Plus, I think the PS2 version looks fine and don't really know if better definition would really serve the game. I kinda like the look of the game as it is.
Like Curt, I don't consider Shattered Memories a pure enough revisitation of the first game to consider it a 'remake.' I don't really like running in circles from enemies until I can find a place to hide. If I want Clock Tower, I'll just play Clock Tower. I enjoyed the psychological profiling parts, as that helped to interactively establish the story and the character, but just give me a cleaned up remake of Silent Hill with all the same gameplay from before. Still the single most eerie/'scary' game I've ever played, after all these years.
As for 4, since we're appraising Silent Hill, I enjoyed it but don't consider it a very good 'Silent Hill' game, if that makes any sense. The Silent Hill references felt forced in, like it was a different game and at the last second, Konami said 'shove the Silent Hill stuff into it.' Maybe that wasn't how it went down, but that's how it feels.
I'd gladly play a Tommy Wiseau: The Room video game. That would rock.
EDIT: Whoa, I just saw that they're ALSO doing a Peace Walker HD port for PS3 and 360?
Hell. Yeah.
Definitely down for that.
Also, I saw that the Anubis Special Edition content for ZOE 2 will be available with the ZOE collection. Didn't know this existed, so I looked into it:
From Wiki:
The "Special Edition" PAL and NTSC-J versions of the game featured a variety of additions and extras to the game, including new VR Training options, added scenarios, more difficulties, a music video featuring a remixed "Beyond the Bounds" theme, improved anti-aliasing and graphical optimizations, and new Orbital Frames for Versus Mode, among other improvements to the game.
I'll have to rethink my position on the ZOE HD collection.
-
I'm not sure if i'll pick these up. I have Mgs2 and MGS3 and honestly they still are good looking games. I may get it for peace walker.
Kind of bummed there isn't a MGS1 on there. My only reason for keeping my gamecube is for twin snakes at this point

Actually there IS a The Room video game
http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/547307
Greg Sestero said (when I saw him at the room screening) that he played it and thought it was a lot of fun.
-
I wonder if MGS2 is the Substance version.
-
2 and 3 both have their original subtitles, so I get the feeling they wont be the Substance or Subsistence versions.
-
Kojima said it will be done by the same company that handled the GoW collection, so the games will likely have all the extras that came in their Substance editions. ZoE2 is also confirmed to have all the extras that came in the Japanese / Euro version.

Nope, it just take to much effort to make it look good if they only used the ps1 version. Kojima hates the GC version so he refuses to touch it.
-
MGS 3 will run at 60 fps. That's all I needed to know. Awesome shit.
-
MGS1 is not included be cause Nintendo holds the rights to Twin Snakes, but also has an agreement with Kojima permitting content to PS3.

Why doesn't he like that one?
-
I've never heard anything about Kojima not liking Twin Snakes.
-
Kojima already confirmed MG3 is going to be the Subsistence version (think free camera control, not the extra goodies of Subsistence second disc).
Also, I am asuming they are going to update controls, especially on a 360 pad it would be really weird to be shooting with face buttons, a total waste of triggers IMO, so I hope they have different controller configurations at the ready.
-
Also, MGS is available on PSN so Nintendo can't stop Konami from rereleasing that build of the game as many times as they want.
Nintendo has rights to Twin Snakes, but not standard MGS.
Personally, I think Kojima should remake Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 with current gen hardware.
It would actually be nice to play as Solid Snake again, in the missions that made him the famous commando he's respected as in the MG universe.
MGS-Solid Snake, but poisoned and living on borrowed time.
MGS 2-Only half the game. I have NO problem with Raiden whatsoever, and am looking forward to Rising, but still wanted to keep playing as Snake.
MGS 3-Naked Snake.
MGS 4-Old Snake.
Now, I understand that it's an evolving world and in terms of gameplay, it's all the same. But Kojima emphasizes game narrative and storytelling as a part of the MG core experience.
That being the case, as he wants me to appreciate the characters and events, I feel I'm entitled to my desire, as a fan, to be able to play as Solid Snake more when he was in his prime.
Also, I've never heard Kojima state he hates Twin Snakes. I've heard he hates the NES versions of MG and Snake's Revenge. It may be true. He may, in fact, hate Twin Snakes. I've just never heard about it.
-
I knew this would be coming along and I'll definitely pick it up once I see it on sale during the Black Friday X-Mas rush. It would have been nice for the OG MGS to be included, even if they bump up the price slightly like the did for the original release of the Metal Gear Solid PS2 Collection. I'm glad I sold that one in time.
Sly Cooper is on clearance for 15 bucks at Target if anyone wants to check it out. Now just gotta wait for Splinter Cell HD to drop and for Jak & Daxter to have a remaster.
-
I'm buying this to get a home console version of PEACE WALKER.
Holy.Fucking.Shit.
I'm so happy and ecstatic.
-
Online play via Adhoc Party should be pretty sweet.

personally, you are 100% right.
-
anyone who has never played ZOE2 should definitely look into this collection when it comes out. the 2nd runner is WAYYYY better than the first one. easily one of my all-time favorite games, and i think it's one of the best games of that generation. so many awesome/epic moments. you have to try it out if you've never played it.
god i wish they would make a third one.
-
What is an Ender? And why is there a videogame dedicated to their allocated area?
-
it's what people on earth call the colonists on mars and jupiter.

Achievement/Trophy list
I'm glad they put a little thought into the achievements, unlike Capcom with the RE4 rerelease.
This is out in just over a week. I'm debating if I want to spend the extra 20 bucks on the collectors edition, it only has an art book. I'm not sure its worth the extra money.
-
Ordered the LE edition from Amazon this weekend. Can't wait!
-
Me too. It'll be worth it for Peace Walker alone -- that game is amazing.

Yeah hell Capcom could have at least shot for 60fps and made the definitive RE4 experience. Cheap bastards. I'm grateful that Kojima is going the extra mile on his projects.

I'm buying it for Peace Walker. Everything else is extra.

Oh, damn. If that one for dog tags means all dog tags across all difficulties in both the Tanker and the Big Shell, that's gonna be a grind and a half.
-
-
I think that will be easy enough, it will just take a while. Beating every VR Mission is going to be hard.
EDIT: Referring to gathering all the dog tags.

Hell it'll be worth it to actually play it on a controller that makes it, well, playable! Don't get me wrong, Peace Walker was as playable as it could be on the limited PSP controls. Sadly it played horribly. Thank you second analog stick.
-
What platform are you all getting Peace Walker...errr....this game on?
-
I'll be on PS3 with mine.
-
PS3 for me too. Playing a MGS game with a 360 controller just sounds unnatural.
-
As others have said, PS3 all the way. MGS feels right on a Dualshock. That and if I can help it I like playing 3D games with a Dualshock style controller.
-
As odd as it would be to play an MGS game on the 360 pad, it'd be a hell of a lot better than playing MGS2 with the old Xbox pad. Christ, that sucked.

And without the slowdown when you were on the tanker in the rain. That was always a WTF moment for me.
-
Yep, I'm going PS3 too. I agree that MGS on an Xbox just seems... wrong.
-
Some of those Peace Walker achievements are going to be very rough, by the way. Getting S ranks is hard, and even unlocking all the extra ops takes a long time. I logged almost 100 hours on that game and I was nowhere near that rank in every mission.
Getting the platinum will be time consuming and difficult. Crazy.
At least there's no co-op nonsense though. I hate multiplayer achievements.
