Macho Man Randy Savage Dies In Car Accident
32 minutes ago by TMZ Staff
Macho Man Randy Savage -- one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time -- died today in a car accident in Tampa, Florida ... TMZ has learned.
TMZ spoke with Randy's brother, Lanny Poffo, who tells us the wrestling legend suffered a heart attack while he was behind the wheel around 9:25 AM ... and lost control of his vehicle.
Earlier this month, Savage celebrated his 1-year anniversary with his new wife Lynn.
Savage was 58.
Macho Man began wrestling in the WWF in 1985 and became a superstar with his trademark catchphrase "Ooooooh Yeaahhhhh."
UPDATE: Florida Highway Patrol tells TMZ ... Savage was driving his 2009 Jeep Wrangler when he veered across a concrete median ... through oncoming traffic ... and "collided head-on with a tree."
Savage was transported to Largo Medical center, where he died from his injuries.
Savage's wife was a passenger in the vehicle during the collision -- but survived with "minor injuries." She was transported to a different local hospital where she was treated.

According to officials, Randy and Lynn were both wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.
Cops say alcohol was NOT a factor.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
KEEP REFRESHING FOR NEW DETAILS.
Look in the other threads lol
Miss Elizabeth died of a drug overdose at a Lex Luger party in the '90s?!
Yep, Elizabeth died quite awhile ago. Sad.
Of the three currently in unrelated, I declare this to be the official one. Everyone post in here.
Did everyone's TMZ app refresh at the same time, or what?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!:crying:
Damn shame.
Too young. Take care of yourselves people.
I wonder if it was related to years of steroid abuse?
It was a car accident you illiterate bastards :p
Anyway, R.I.P. to one of my favorite characters from growing up.
If there were an afterlife, I'd like to picture Savage and Mr. Rogers kicking back and enjoying a well earned rest.
I also added his theme music to the first post. .
WTF!!!!,,, RIP
JS
I seriously can't believe it! I really hope its not true.
RIP Randy. :(

My own two homages (one, two) from last year...
No one will snap into a slim jim the same way ever again
The title on the front page read: "Macho Man" Randy Savage is"...and I had a feeling the next word was going to be "dead". But I didn't realize he was that young. He seemed a lot older to me.
Wow... RIP indeed. :(
:(
Randy Savage is easily my favorite wrestler of all time, his promo work is unmatched, and he was damn good in the ring too.
I was hoping Vince would forgive him at some point and induct him to the hall of fame along with him possibly being an on air character again as an announcer or something. It kinda seemed like it was heading that way, with him being in that recent videogame and having a new action figure.
I wonder if Vince will allow a tribute for him either Sunday or Monday.
RIP "Macho Man" Randy Savage.
I can't find the entire promo anymore. :(
Easily my fav wrestler for as said already the man's promos were things of beauty, I can't remember how many of me and my friends later referred to ourselves as the cream of the crop
One of my fav promos
And because I was shocked he was in the movie when I first saw it
It was posted in the war room some time ago, but if you love the Macho Man you've got to appreciate the L4D audio file.
+1
Rest in peace, Randy. I have a TON of fond memories of you in the 80s and 90s, from when me and my father would watch wrestling together. It was one of the few bonding activities I had with my father before dementia overcame him and he lost so much of himself before he died. I greatly treasure those times, and Randy's crazy promos, outlandish ring antics and irepressable performances are one of the main reasons why.
A true pioneer. Randy was never the greatest mat technician, although he DID have one of the three best WM matches of all time, but he was a damn good worker who knew how to promote his character AND the business. At least before he fell apart, which I think was around the time the nWo was peaking.
I wonder what that douchebag Hogan will say about this.
I really am sad over this. Him vs. The Ultimate Warrior was the greatest feud of all time.
Wrestling used to be so...fucking...badass
If shit was still like this, I would have gay WWF decals all over my car and action figures.
It's a damn shame. Macho Man is one my favorite wrestlers back in the day. My dad actually named me after that man. I will snap a Slim Jim in his honor
Aww man :(, soo many great wrestlers gone in the last few years. R.I.P Macho Man
RIP. Sad day.
Fuck, what a drag.
Some of my favorite wrestlers were Mr. Perfect, Ted DiBiase, Macho Man, and the only "recent" wrestler I really liked was Chris Benoit.
Kinda fucked up how most of them are dead now. =(
And Wes is right...wrestling was pretty magical back then.
It had all the feuds, immaturity and roughhousing we as kids enjoyed on the playground but the way it was acted out by grown men was just fucking rad. That's what it was like back then: a clubhouse for kids, full of eccentric personalities and hilarious racial stereotypes, and jacked up dudes with golden mullets who were probably more an influence on Americas kids than their own fathers were.
Macho man was a huge part of all that and he will be missed. RIP.
R.I.P. :(
This day sucked already and this makes it worse. :(Quote:

Sad indeed. One of my favorites growing up. Him and Elizabeth can be together forever.
The ability to excite a crowd with one fucking finger is true talent as corny as it was. He will be missed.
RIP...man, he was my favorite wrestler back in the day, he was a talented athlete and actor (his insanity was top-notch)...this really sucks...
Most of those you mentioned are in this video of the Macho Man coronation into 'The King!'
I'm about to head up to 711 to grab some Slim Jims. I'd pour a 40oz out for our comrade Randy...but this seems more fitting. Agreed with Wes: wrestling used to be way cool.
It was the sheer lunacy, the campiness of it all. WWE is just about "attitude" and being tough and edgy. WWF in the 90s was just a three ring circus. Everyone was dressed like the fresh prince and acted like him if he smoked a mountain of meth. Maybe it was the magic of being young, but I remember wrestling being different then too. Maybe it wasn't, but I guess I fondly remember my youth and the WWF
"He is a graduate of Downers Grove North High School"
ha! my hometown is pretty close to there
Maybe this a sign of the coming rapture.
jk.
That's pretty sad.
He was a great personality.
Too bad the WWE had their head up their behinds
and just started putting him in the games.
He will be missed.
RIP big guy.
This is some bullshit.
*will also snap into a Slim Jim in his honor* :(
At least he and Hogan were speaking again. And it seemed that the WWE was recognizing his existence and contributions again. Hopefully he will be inducted into the Hall of Fame posthumously.
R.I.P. Macho Man. I feel compelled now more than ever to track down those TFA Stunticons just to do some serious roleplaying as Motormaster.
Dig it! :buttrock:
