Looks good so far. Though we know that only 10% of the cast will make an appearance. Maybe 20%.
Saw this today ... glad to see some good effort for a good CG movie cause the Tekken movie that came out was only for eating souvlaki while watching it and having a good laugh
Looks Great!!!!!

Holy Crap, thank you Chris!!! You made my day!!!
Every theater has the same showtime for the movie, but I hate 3D films so I'm on the fence
the trailer makes it seem almost acceptable after the live action movie.
Let's hope that they have better luck than Squaresoft.
The DVD of this will have 2 games included. Tekken Tag HD was already known to be included but on a Live Stream Harada just said that there will be a Tekken Tag 2 prologue game. Could this get any better?
New Trailer! The game comes with a TTT2 demo called "TTT2 Prologue". 1 movie, 2 games, you couldn't ask for anything more!

This looks interesting. Probably will only get it for the games, though.
Why isn't tekken tag HD on the 360? The game won't have online play which is dumb as well.
If they were trying to pass this off as a full retail release then yeah, this wouldn't be acceptable. But its fan service added to the bluray disc for a movie. The fact that they decided to add it at all is the opposite of mediocrity.
If TTT2 comes out with no online or extras, then you can bitch.
Yeah....Yeah....Yeah....LOL at the fan service excuse. Tekken tag 1 deserves an online play. I don't see why they couldn't include it since they are already doing a HD version of it. Might as well go all the way. The game has a strong competitive scene for a while, and I am sure many diehard tekken fans want the original to be online too, not just tekken tag 2. As for the movie, I can always download it somewhere.
Yeah you do, you play the Street Fighter IV series Stuart1989. And a movie that comes with 2 games is hardly mediocre.
True we all would love for it play online but even with it not having online play, a CG movie made by the developers that comes packaged with an upscaled TTT and a TTT2 demo is hardly the definition of mediocrity. Seriously how many movies come with 2 games? What did the legend of Chun Li come with? Sadness and despair.
p.s. where is the strong competative scene? I know people still play it for fun but outside of Korea I don't know of any strong competitive scene for TTT.
SF4 series is hardly mediocre, but this thread is not about that. This movie comes with a 1 past game with no online and a mere demo. I was referring to the past where tekken tag had a strong competitive scene in asia. It was popular in the US as well. I wasn't specific in my previous post, so my bad. Online play would be nice for a well made game like this. They could have just go cheap include the original ps2 version and upscale it, but they clearly put in the effort to remaster it in full HD, so I don't see why they didn't go all out for online play and make it multiplat which is a good way to introduce new fans to the upcoming tekken tag 2.
Pretty much what everyone else said.
Giving an old game like TTT netcode when there are so many other things in the Namco/Tekken pipe right now would be unproductive.
It's an old game, TTT 2 is coming, they're developing Tekken X Street Fighter, and also working on other non-Tekken related projects like Soul Calibur V.
All new games for an increasingly competitive market.
Just doesn't make any sense for them to develop netcode for an old game.
Upscaling to HD and giving netcode are two entirely different processes. One is a graphic touch up requiring minimal effort, one is heavy on the game's infrastructure and would be time consuming and costly.
And then there's Castor's comments about the servers costing money. If you make it client based, it's entirely dependent on the host. It would just be a fucking mess waiting to happen.
It's better they don't add it in for TTT.
Am buying the movie to support Namco because I want to see the movie do well and get a sequel. That I'm getting an old, great game in HD remaster is just icing on the cake.
I have my tix.
This movie was gay. The Mishima family fight was kick ass though! Holy shit did it get me hyped. But the dummies took a few small liberties with the storyline that made you say "does this even have anything to do with the game".
The movie is out in theaters, I believe. But the BD hybrid bundle is slated for this holiday season. I think, anyway.
No the bundle is not out. The movie came out in theaters yesterday, thats all and it was pretty dumb. It wasn't horrible like that live action movie but if you know Tekken and you see this movie you'll understand why it's dumb.
The only good thing about it was that the lobby in the theater where I saw it had an H2Overdrive machine. God, that game is awesome.
Street Fighter IV is mediocre.
I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not but at this point if I had to choose between watching this movie again or playin SFIV I'd think twice about watching the movie...
I honestly didn't think it would suck because the people who created the intro are the ones who did the movie. However it occured to me the brain behind it is still the Tekken producer, the people who made it just do what he tells them. He gave them creative freedom and that's where he went wrong.
I was being serious. I'm glad SF IV came out and was successful because it blew the door open for fighting games again, but I think the game's pretty mediocre and bland. There was a time I really liked it, but I think that had more to do with the 'glow' of the genre coming alive once more. It did what it needed to do and it has its fans. I am not one of them. I kept up with Super and AE in the hopes the changes would make me more appreciative and they didn't. I'm hyped for 3rd Strike Online, though.
As for choosing between mediocre and bad, if a gun were to my head I'd opt for bad. At least something I hate would evoke an emotional response.
What Spin said. The movie was pretty gay. They lamed out my favorite character, Lee. He was there and didnt throw a SINGLE punch. And they added some stupid mutant storyline to try and make it all mesh, which didnt work. The design for Kazuya's devil form was awesome, but Jin's looked terrible. And the Mokujin Megazord made me say WTF?
The BEST part of the movie was when I was watching it with like 20 of my friends, some random dude yelled 1+2 (one plus two) during the Xiaoyu/Alisa fight when Xiaoyu ended up with Alisa's head.
Also I know im gonna draw hate for this, but ive actually started to dig deeper into AE, and while it is some old dumb bullshit....I feel like I have no other choice but to appreciate it for now until the games I want to play come out.
O.
LOL I yelled out "Art of Phoenix" when she got in her stance! Outside of the Mishima fight I think the best parts of that movie was the heckling that happened at every showing across the world I'm sure.
I was mad as hell about Lee. Sure he was funny and all but I wanted the see the Silver Demon put people in their place. All of that wasted potential just too please the weaboos who picked this game up when Tekken 5DR came out(just to play Lili)
Oh you should go to Tekken Zaibatsu and look at the 5 page long hate filled thread about this movie however there are like 3 people that really don't get why people are mad and if you look at their avatars(lili, ling) etc you can see why they don't get it. LOL you can see some of my posts on page 4 and 5 and yes I did rage out too at first LOL.

Okay, just got done reading the comments over at Zaibatsu.'
GOD, THIS SOUNDS LIKE IT FUCKING SUCKED.
Will still buy the BD for the HD Tekken Tag, which it sounds like it needs to get people to buy it.
Based on the plot points and the protagonists, it sounds like they took the lean and mean aggressive concepts from the games and completely ignored them.
OMG thats funny. I just read the TZ thread and the guy with the Ling avatar named 7th Fonon is actually one of the guys I went to see the movie with.
O.
Yeah the "lean" and "mean" was definitely pretty weak in this movie. This movie totally did not cater to the longtime Tekken fan. This movie was for people who follow today's anime trends of cuteness and underage fanservice. It feels like a bigger slap in the face because the people who made the intros to Tekken 5 and 6 were the ones who did this. But like I said, when you give people creative freedom they create the story through their eyes. This is essentially what happened with Falcoon and SNK. They saw him draw preexisting characters and were impressed then when they hired him and gave him creative freedom to create characters he pretty much drew what he wanted regardless of if they fit the SNK bill or not. The Blood Vengeance asshole is the Namco's Falcoon. If someone who had never heard of Tekken were to watch this terrible movie they'd have a completely wrong idea of what the game was really all about. They'd buy it thinking it was a dating sim with demons and robots or something.
I'm actually kinda on the fence now about buying it. That movie made me that fucking mad. I know I love Tekken Tag but I don't know if I'd pay for that horrible movie.
Small world! Glad he got his money's worth. I sure as hell didn't. I payed 14 dollars for a something I'm totally and completely against. I hate loli moe shit with a passion. I feel like a White Supremacist who accidentially bought tickets to the BET Awards. Fuckin ROBBED.
Which is something that completely irritates me about the cultural trends in Japanese video games.
Look, didn't anybody ever tell these people that there is a time and place for the different tropes of these genres?
A Tekken CGI movie is unlikely, in any incarnation, to ever appeal to anybody outside the hardcore faithful.
This is not Final Fantasy, which has a crossover appeal to female audiences and and to peoples' girlfriends due to all the flowery romance and fake teen idol badassery.
People like Tekken because it's a kinetic game with hard hitting fighting action. It's not my favorite series, but I like it and I understand why other people like it.
Whoever developed this movie's plot clearly doesn't understand it, however.
An excellent point. It's up to the editors of the endeavor to ensure that the creators are staying true to the core values of the IP when they're working on existing content.
If these guys were working on their own thing, then it's no big deal. But when you're making a Tekken movie, or a KOF game or whatever, it's important to stay true to the essential values of what makes it appealing.
People want to complain that 'nothing ever changes' if you don't allow creative freedom, but creative freedom can be applied without losing the essence of the thing.
I DO think some of these sensibilities are in the game, however.
Mokujin, Kuma, Heihachi strapping people to rockets and launching them into space. Some of this wacky shit is simply in the the games. But there is a proper way to utilize it, and I'm not so sure that a photorealistic CGI adenture movie is the right place for some of the more outlandish elements we see in the games. If the idea is to create a CGI 'realistic' Tekken movie, then you need to find a comfortable medium between the visceral and the fantastic. Sounds, by nearly every account, that the movie didn't do this. And that's a shame. Another waste of the potential of realistic CGI movies.
It could be such a great medium for bringing great things to life in a way that live action can't even touch, and instead they use it as softcore. If these fuckers wanted to do doujinshi, there's nothing stopping them. But this movie just sounds like it diultes the IP in generaly.
Just get it, dude.
Tekken Tag Tournament HD.
You can't say no to that, and you aren't even being a hypocrite by buying it. You'd be getting it for the game, nothing more.
:lolz:
In all seriousness, I don't have a problem with loli/moe/high school anime and manga. But it has its time and place, and a hybrid of these concepts needs to be executed in exactly the right way.
Amazingly, Capcom pulled this off with Sakura in the SF games. Yes, she wears a sailor fuku. Yes, she's a high school student and a martial artist. Yes, she's cute. But she's a tomboy and barely acts like a girl at all in that respect. She's a scrapper and a fighter, and that's why the concept works for me when she's next to the other characters. Same with Makoto, who, like Sakura, wants to be a fighter first and a dainty high school student second. They don't try to maintain or upkeep their girlish qualities because they want to punch people in the face.
You could even argue that they got it right with Ibuki and Elena, and those two have 'hentai otaku fantasy' written all over them.
'Blah blah blah but what about the people that like school girls in their games?'
Well, there are games for that too. There are even fighters. Just keep them out of the fighters where they don't fit in, you shits.
Even if you hate the movie, youre getting Tekken Tag HD and the Tekken Tag 2 demo build. Thats gonna make it well worth my money.
O.
damn, this is really disappointing, and my expectations were really low. I too might not even buy this, I still have tekken tag on my still working ps2 and I plan on keeping my CRT TV a long time, HD tekken tag is a nice touch but if the movie is garbage and the bluray is expensive, I won't even bother.
Small world! Glad he got his money's worth. I sure as hell didn't. I payed 14 dollars for a something I'm totally and completely against. I hate loli moe shit with a passion. I feel like a White Supremacist who accidentially bought tickets to the BET Awards. Fuckin ROBBED.[/QUOTE]
Fer sure! i was looking to put my feelings into words and you just did it for my lazy ass. Thanks!!!
It's better then the live action movie, I can not stress this enough
