New fighting game: "Under Night: In-Birth"

Its supposed to be 100% original but the main character already screams "Kaede" from LB. So far this game looks like Last Blade mixed with BlazeBlue with extra loli-anime-otaku on top.

But anyway, if it has a good system I'll still give it a whirl. I'm so desperate for 2d I'll play anything. Even if I can't stand the look of current anime, anything that doesn't look like you know what game is fine by me.

It looks exactly like MBAA.... which I miss, but.....

No one makes decent 2D fighting games anymore, show me a company / group other than Capcom and SNK that can pull off a fighting game close to Street Fighter III or Garou and maybe I can force myself to try it.

Until then, I'm not impressed. :rolleyes:

I have 0 issue with women in fighting games, but it annoys me when the selling point of the game is its Doujinshi potential. Also why I hate Arcana Heart...that and that game just sucks on multiple levels.

Lord knows what that name is supposed to mean. I was looking around different forums for info on this game and someone brought up that "In-birth" could also be transliterated from Japanese as "inverse" which wouldn't sound as stupid. so "Under Night: Inverse" still doesn't make sense but it works I guess.

But I mean, he looks worse than the hair on the SvC Guile Sprite.

I hate to rag on this game before playing it, but I've never been a fan of the Melty Blood style game. It's almost also all down to aesthetics rather than the game play being bad. For fuck sake what happened to "round 1 fight?"

Yeah Japan loves them some damn German/Germanic names. I think Japan thinks Nazis were cool. Not saying Germans are nazis but they seem to like that style of dress as well as giving people and game titles Germanic sounding names. "Xenosaga Jenseits von Gut und Böse" LOL.

You can't say "round one fight" You gotta switch out the "round" and "fight" with something cooler. In Japan you didn't know that you can make up stuff in English?

So you haven't played GGXX AC? That game is amazing as hell, and anyone that says otherwise just hasn't put in much/any time with it. Deeper than hell, with a huge learning curve for each character. Hell, each character's system seems to come from completely different games. It's one fighter you pretty much have to pick one person and play as, since each one plays so incredibly different.

No one respects Guilty Gear here....

I'm surprised OrochiEddie hasn't jumped in to say how you can faceroll highlevel play or some silliness.

What? I love Guilty Gear, and I've made that clear, using it to show why between Blazblu and Guilty Gear Blazblu can go fuck itself. Guilty Gear was years of my teenage years spent in training mode, going to tournaments, and pulling hair out trying to learn Eddie traps all to find out I was a Potemkin guy. And then AC came out and I didn't have to try anymore. Those were fun days. I started when X first came out on the US PS2 and as soon as the match started we'd activate instant kill and just run around the stage. We eventually figured out what was going on and our little group really amped the competition in our group of friends. Finished all the missions in X2 which was an awful endeavor.

For a while we'd switch between Alpha 3 and Guilty Gear, but until our group finally began to fizzle in its cohesion we were all hardcore GGXX fans. The game had an extremely fun engine and knew how to laugh at itself a little.

Wow, a lot of effort went into the animations and artwork for some of these games. I'm not a fan of the loli-goth genre, but I acknowledge there is some care put into their aesthetics (which makes sense, I suppose.) Is this genre popular enough to even warrant the amount of production, or is this just a small studio effort with a lot of love for the subject?

As for GG, it was never my thing but I don't hate it.

See, I DID hate it for a long while. Thought the cast and everything was retarded. Then one day I played it, and I finally got it. Probably my favorite 2D fighter ever at the moment (that's saying a lot from me).

For the longest time, I was SNK's bitch. Capcom, too... but now, I'll give anything a chance. So, even with a stupid name, I'll check this game out. But, I'm not interested beyond that, at this point.

I am one a big hater of these kinda games and this art style, but surprisingly I can actually stomache meltyblood. At least melty bloods midget bitches look like they are there to fight... kinda.. and the game is technically sound and well animated.

So I am a little less disgusted at this one and may even give it a shot if it gets a console release and a friend plays it.
