I was under the impression that the weapons in tekken 6 were aesthetic only. Am i wrong?

New Trailer!
Yes, now the game has weapons. I guess this is a way to get people to buy those extra data cards. Since they won't save for any Joe that just walks into the arcade and plunks a buck down. How is this going to effect people that play at EVO and other tournaments? Will they go all out with weapons or will enforce people not to use them.
I think the weapons most likely won't impact the game much at all, like the T6 weapons.
If they're like Tekken 6 they'll do a minimum of 10 damage and be pretty unsafe so no-one will use them. They're taunts.
A heap of gameplay vids. Looks like Julia's/Jaycee's f+3 is now a forward roll animation.

Fast forward to 3 min 52 secs
Sweet, Jun is back.
Oh man, the music playing on the xmas stage is soooo bad. It actually reminds me of some pop song from the 80's but I can't put my finger on the name of it. The intro to Celebration by Kool and the Gang. Good times... lol.....
That video got me kinda hyped but my hype can't help but the stifled by the thought that the juggles just might be too damn long. But lord God, that shit looks so fuckin tight.
When I saw that they brought back the school stage I almost lost it. I hope the music for the new school stage is just as weird and cool as the original was.
Speaking of stages it also seems like they have alternate version of previous stages as well. One stage looks like it takes place inside of that weird looking building from "midnight wilderness" from Tekken 5.
Kuma's little count out thing was hilarious too.
Yeah it seems that the juggles will be ridiculously long!
I also hope they have downed down the top tiers in this (Lars, Bruce, etc) and balanced the game a bit more, however I have a sneaky suspicion that Jun and/or Julia will be a bit overpowered. Usually the newcomers are in the Tekken and the Soul Calibur series
Julia is not a newcomer but she gets a lot of attention in those TTT2 trailers and she's changed her look a bit and we havent seen Jun since TTT1 so she is considered a "newcomer" in a way
I'm also waiting to see what improvements Heihachi had comparing him to Tekken 6. He is my main and it was a nightmare playing him against almost anybody
Yeah they are gonna have to tweak the tiers for this tag stuff to work and not be totally cheap cuz some of the top tier guys are just fucking ridiculous. Bruce's wall carries really piss me off.
Here are some gameplay vids.
http://www.fomos.kr/board/board.php?...1&field=&kwrd=
There is some weird "tag bounce" that makes the character bounce high when you tag your guy in and everything slows down. I think it doesn't look too bad because the guy playing sucks but I know that I a Bruce or Bryan player could do something really nasty with that.
Edit: Here is more of that Tag bounce thingy. This time it has a team of Paul and Bryan(pure destruction). These guys didn't know what they were doing but give it a few days until the ugly combos start showing up.
http://fomos.kr/board/board.php?mode...=&field=&kwrd=
If you listen to the music on these videos you can hear that they sound like music from older games. If you look at the last video on the 2nd link that I posted you can hear the arcade version music of the school stage.
The end of this video has some nasty ass unblockable trap with Nina. Namco get your shit right while you still got time. The damage in these juggles doesn't seem bad but the potential for cheese is definitely there. I have so many nasty little ideas.
40 images of the game.
http://vegivo.com/2011/02/13/over-40...is-introduced/
I like the CG portraits better than Tekken 6's.
The graphics look much better than Tekken 6. Textures and animation have improved a lot. We'll just have to wait and see how the console ports compare to the Arcade version (inferior for sure!)
That "slow bounce" thingy + wall carry + walls + top tiers will be sick. Just wait for the top players to find out the best juggles and I am sure Tekken 6's juggles will seem "ordinary" after this sick juggling has commenced :P
The game will get better after some patching has been done but I'm almost certain the top tiers will be god tiers in this one.
Comparing this to T6 they should tone down
Lars
Bruce
Bryan
Law
Bob
and give a boost to
Hei and Kaz (not sure about Jin)
Yoshimitsu
Lei
I'm looking forward myself to check out "ordinary" Jinpachi. That DF+2 that pulled out a super fast uppercut in T5 DR was sick and broken as fuck (at least he was a boss there!)
Like I said in the beginning the graphics and facial animations rock! I didnt expect that much of a change.
It'll be interesting to see, how they change the old cast if at all. There's so many rumours going around, I don't know who to believe.
E.g.
- Kuma and Panda currently have a seperate location in the character selection screen. It is rumoured they have different movelists.
- It is possible to pick the same character twice. There's a video of someone picking Jaycee doubles. I hope this gets changed.
Jaycee/Julia has a new bridge stance similar to Voldo's for those familiar with Soul Calibur. During the stance she has an attack where she knocks you down with her 'Gina. Seriously.... I think she's unofficially become a joke character. Which is actually cool with me 'cause her hippy conservationist ways were getting annoying.
I changed my mind it'll be Jaycee/King and Zafina/Dragunov
Team Luchador and team WTF!!! :D
My teams are gonna be the exact same from before minus Kunimitsu. Mishimas, Baek/Hwoarang and not the addition of Feng/Dragunov. I used to play Kunimitsu/Yoshimitsu but that team is a dead dream.
I hope KYSG keeps showing Namco all the insane shit possible in this game. That unblockable setup link I posted was from the combo masters "KYSG". Namco needs to pay attention cuz they could have some major problems on their hands.
Just as I suspected ... the game runs on much stronger hardware than before. Here is some info from arcade heroes :
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There there is Namco’s Tekken Tag Tournament 2. Twitter has been buzzing with some pictures taken of the game running on an arcade cabinet, as well as that poster seen above which finally gives us an idea of the player roster. Hit up Andriasang for the other pics. In addition to that, we find out from AM-Net that the game is actually running on some new hardware, currently dubbed “System 369″. We don’t know anything else about it at the moment although we can probably assume that it’s a more powerful variation of their System 357 hardware, which is based upon the Sony Playstation 3. Namco did something like that with their boards that were based upon both the PS1 and PS2 as well by adding more memory or higher clock speeds, etc. so it’s no surprise that they would do that with the PS3. Of course if the game takes a large advantage of the new abilities found in the enhanced hardware, one has to wonder what might be “dumbed down” in the probable console release down the road.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Which translates to only one thing : Inferior console ports (graphic wise) LOL
Indeed like old times!! LOL
SpinmasterX, I believe the next generation is at least 2 years off so I would find it pretty unlikely for Namco to wait so long. After all they would lose a ton of money if they didn't port it asap.
Its pretty fucked up that we don't have arcades here in Greece anymore since that stupid law that banned them back in 2003 I believe
Soul Calibur 5 will probably be running on the new hardware as well (just a guess)
If only the could make each game come with a dongle or something that would increase the machine's capability of vram or something. Just like the old Saturn days with that 4MB cart. But those days are long gone
Xbox 360 came out Nov. 2005 and PS3 Nov 2006. I don't know. It's cutting it kinda close in my opinion. Then again didn't they say that they wanted this generation's consoles to last a longer than before. I'm thinking maybe Microsoft said that(lol360).
Tekken Tag 2 is probably gonna have an arcade run of 6 months to a year at the least I think. I'm probably wrong but I think TTT2 will be released on consoles summer of next year and then shortly after that I think companies might start unveiling new consoles. So we might be playing it just before the new fail consoles get unveiled.
I just know I want my Tekken Tag 2 before the end of next year and before any new consoles come out. I don't wanna have to pay a kajillion dollars for a new console thats gonna break on me just so I can try out a 60 dollar game that might piss me off as well.
But just think though, Tekken games are usually flagship Sony console launch titles or they come close to the launch dates like Tekken 5 DR which came one month after the PS3 was released.
I hated the arcade situation in Europe. I lived in Germany for 4 years when i was a kid/teen and all i remember was playing Capcom, SNK games and Virtua Fighter on arcade machines. I moved back in 2003 and Europe didn't have shit for consoles. I really feel bad for you because you Europeans are gonna be starving for this game and won't get to see it for a while.
2012 and 2013 should be the console's respective cycle out times. God it doesn't even seem like it's been that long...:oh_no:
Yeah it really doesn't feel like it's been that long. I think it passed so fast because I truly didn't care about this generation's games or consoles. I think altogether I own maybe 8 Xbox 360 and PS3 games total and I regularly play about 3 of them hahaha. It just passed me by.
hair-hammer? wtf?
The combo at the end is illustrating some of the big damage potential. After a "tag assault" the character coming in will flash blue and you have the opportunity to input an attack or attack string before you regain control of your previous character. From the vids, if the character coming in performs an "air throw" during a tag assault they will remain in the fight instead of tagging out.
In that video. The Devil Jin player launches the opponent and tags immediately. Nina performs ss+1~b~d/b+1+2 which is all one string. Whilst not a natural combo, it worked perfectly as a wall tech roll trap. Devil Jin then comes back in to finish the tag assault.
Not all character will be able to do this on tech -
Baek has 2,3~d/b+3+4
Ganryu has 1+2~b+1+2
Anna has f,f+3,4,b+3:1+2
Bryan has b+2,1~ss~b+1+4/f+1+4
Heihachi has 2,2,1+2~ss~d+1+4/d+3+4,2
There's probably more which I can't think of at the moment. None of my mains can do it, so there's a lot of crap I'll have to put up with.
Edit: Julia/Jaycee may be able to do d,df+1~4/3~f+1+4. This combo has some huge possibilities if it's doable.

Jun's Back!
http://shoryuken.com/blog/jun_harada.jpg
I can't see Jun having a completely new movelist. I'd say she'll be just a different character model of Asuka's.
Kind of a catch-22. If they give her an entirely new movelist, the old-school crowd will be pissed. If they make her an alternate costume for Asuka, the new generation will be pissed.
I hate cloning as it is so I'm hoping she will have an entirely new moveset.
I know I'm sorry. I'm a little harsh on Asuka because of the buffs she got in Tekken 6 which made her kinda cheesy IMO. I apologize. Alisa is the one who needs to go! Fuck that stupid bitch.
Hi Everyone,
Just joined the forum so this is my first post, please be gentle.
I found this thread and I had so much to say, so bare with me.
Yeah quest mode wares off alright.
When it comes to everyone losing interest, I have that problem with most fighters.
I put that down to not many people like losing a lot, in order to learn a game.
Very few people that I have met that have gotten their asses kicked for long time and have not quit.
In the original TTT2 Teaser Trailer
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvL9T...layer_embedded
I was wondering if the above combo will work still? I was looking for same number of 'tag outs' in this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jla3fEOVQ_A
I do realize that just because the player(s) didn't do it doesn't mean that it is not in the game, but does anyone know for sure?
Like BigFred (hey Dude :buttrock:) listed below...
My reasons are the same as yours, which I thought you explained really well...
I also thought that Mishimas & Ogres too powerful, Overall the game was too defensive.
Is it just me or T1-T4 (including TTT1) the combos were too 'clunky' and not free flowing like T5.0 and onwards? Does anyone feel the same
way about old tekken being 'too clunky'?
While I realize that with the recent news of Jun making the cut, makes my post rather late, I would like to point out that,I think the
whole point of 'Tag' being a non-story-canon is that they can dream match any characters that will never return to 'story' based tekken.
Also with this post...
I believe this explanation, captures what Katsuhiro Harada has said in regards to Tekken Characters getting away from cloning.
Now while I more or less agree with BigFred with Cloning in Regular 'story-canon' Tekken, I think that 'Tag" should be the exception to the
cloning rule, but it depends to what 'level' you want to take it.
Lvl 1 - Jinpachi Mishima, Kunimitsu, Ogre, True Ogre and Jun (put here because she's confirmed, for now)
Lvl 2 - Forest Law, Michelle Chang, P. Jack, Unknown, Combot, Devil
Lvl 3 - Angel, Alex, Tiger Jackson, Tetsujin
Lvl 4 - A.King I, King I, Kuma I, Roger Sr, Miharu Hiyamo (Ling Xiaoyu's Friend and palette swap in T4), Gun Jack (Jack-3 as far as I'm
Concerned and we already have Jack-6)
Lvl 5 - Dr B, Gon
lI do have a huge explanation on this, but my post has ran out of room. I will post it later.
I am not going to debate this, but I use to think the same that Leo is a tom boy chick.
However even though Leo looks like a chick, Leo voice sounds 'male' (at least just enough) in the end Leo is a guy, check out his story...
Leo was part of a very talented family. His father was a world-famous spelunker, while his mother served as a G
Corporation executive.....

Spot on.
Spinmaster X, Even though that VF and Tekken are 3d games, do you think they are similar enough to be put into one game? 'currently' aren't
each of the games systems too different from one another?
I know that CVS2 worked, even though the SNK characters were undercut. There still was enough commonalities to make that game happen.
I mean granted that they (I mean Tekken and VF) will have a lot more in common than SF x Tekken or vice versa, however I just get the
feeling that we may need a VF6 or that real shake up that VF needs (in order for the game systems to be marry-able) before this dream
project of Tekken vs VF can be a reality.
I am glad someone said it. I totally agree.
With only a few fighting game companies that are releasing games in the industry. On top of that, they only release a new one on average 2
-3 years apart, it seems like the only way to diversify is cross over games.
SF, Tekken, VF, SC, KOF, BB:CS, MVC3, MK and DOA.
These game series' seem to be alive and kicking a long, even if some (of them shouldn't or) aren't tournament worthy.
However if you play fighting games and say you have a preference for about 3 game series eg SF, VF and Tekken.
How many times are you going to sit down with a sequel to you favourite series and not get the 'seen it all before blues' after a little
while.
The Fighting Game industry needs to break up the monotony...
...and how do you do that? You make cross over games.
This no only prolongs the release of sequels of a regular Tekken or SF, but gives good testing ground for future ideas. Thus lengthening
the whole fighting game scene/industry.
As much as I agree that 3d Fighter vs 2d fighter (tekken x SF) doesn't seem right, if this is what is required to keep things going, then I
guess it is ok or at least a wait and see.
Like my last quote of Spinmaster X, I think that all 3 mainstream 3D fighters (VF, Tekken, DOA) all seem to me a bit too different from one
another to be versing each other.
The few similairties I can come up seem superficial like VF - G + P + K, DOA - FREE + P + K.
I don't think that VF is too deep a fighter, that it can't be crossed with Tekken or if any body cares DOA. It would be other reasons more
so than the depth issue.
Would any experts care to give their 2 cents? I'd love to hear the theoretical technicalities involved.
Don't get me wrong, I like all fighting games.
I want them to do well and be good games.
In VF case, it seriously is a good game and as mentioned earlier it is getting 'stale' and really needs some major direction/changes.
I'd hate for VF to get abandoned and this nail in the coffin you speak of might seem all doom and gloom, however it just reminds of the
nintendo gamecube situation.
After Sega stopped producing hardware and only focused on software, people thought that in Nintendo's case they might suffer the same fate
as Sega with the lack of success with the Gamecube.
In all honesty It didn't look good not for a long time and then the Wii came along and now nintendo is kicking ass again.
While I don't think that Sega can take VF to the same success level as say SF or Tekken in its next release, however with time who knows.
I am under the impression that the Tekken Series is the world's most preferred fighter among fighting game players worldwide.
Who'd thought SF would lose their crown.
Around 10 years ago I guess it happened.
Doesn't anyone else think that the reason Heihachi is young, is to differentiate him from Jinpachi more so?
I would much rather prefer old Helhachi then young, but I do prefer regular Tekken instead of 'Tag' so maybe I am biased. I guess it
doesn't make too much difference as long as the move list is preserved and added upon.
Now with Bob, I don't think a skinny bob is going to happen. Bob's whole appeal is that he is fat and moves like lightning. Bob being is
old self makes just like the other already established male characters.
I think that storyline for fighting games may not seem that important, but I think it definitely is required.
Let me put it this way, I heard on a podcast a couple of years ago that if you take the concept of WWE yes wrestling.
If wrestling was just the matches/fights (if you can call them that ;)) no interviews, no hype, no build up, just the matches, it would be
boring.
No apply that to fighting games, if you don't have back story then there doesn't seem to be any connection any reason for them to be
fighting.
It really would feel empty. The build up, anticipation and knowing what is at stake with this battle coming up.
Now granted that fighting game have crap stories in most cases, due to their convoluted nature, I still feel that the games with 'better'
(to use the term lightly) stories fare better than ones that don't.
I believe this next bit of evidence will end the Julia JC debate.

http://oi56.tinypic.com/ru5hz6.jpg
And I have put the necklace comparison here for convenience
In regards to Kuma and Panda I don't think they will be too different from one another. I think just a few moves here or there. Kind of
like how Julia and Michelle were in TTT1.
Personally I don't care if they have the same or almost the same moves. Whether it is 'Tag' or Regular Tekken. I think the fun of using
Bears to beat up the opposition is worth it alone, I think them being clone or virtually clone is a small price to pay.
Are you sure if you can pick the same character twice? Do you have the link of the video of this?
Nice teams, I was thinking of picking up Zafina myself.
With the recent Kazuya videos of turning 'Devil' I don't like how he just gets wings and maybe a few minor details (devil horns?). If he
morphed into the Devil skin we all know and love, I would have liked it more.
With Jin however I'd hate it if he just got wings or a similar effect as Kazuya has at this stage he should get the full Jin -> Devil Jin
treatment.
I do want to chat more on Jun, but as stated half was through this post, I have run out of room.
BTW Not all my posts will be like this, I just thought this was a cool thread.

Sorry for the Double Post
You know, I quoted that from Zaibatsu without looking closely at the video.
It appears they pick someone else at the end.
There's been a huge rise of WWE Divas over the years. Julia's new moves all seem to mimic those seen by the current generation of Divas. Her new "Bridge" move for example is one of Melina's staples at 1min 24secs
Btw, you may want to delete or edit your double post...
** UPDATE ** I am able to edit my posts now so I have fixed the problems, I will leave the writing below to explain what happened **

They definitely are similar enough to make a crossover game. VF:FS also changed their throw system to where it works the exact same way as Tekken's. The 2 series are closer than they've ever been before in my honest opinion.Quote:

Of course the guard button and stance changes could pose problems but I don't think they'd be that big of a problem.

Edge inducted an interview with Harada about the game
http://www.next-gen.biz/features/the...tag-tournament
I love this quote
Quote:
Harada: "Fighting games are very severe as half of the players will loose automatically. SFIII was almost bringing that to 80 per cent. It was seen as the best 2D fighting could offer but it was very much exclusive to a few. You pay 100 yen to play and loose. That became more and more apparent in the genre and the result was predictable. Tekken survived because it's a game that, in a way, is almost a parody of a fighting game. I was often criticized about that fact when we made Tekken 1 to 3; it was possible to win by just doing silly things on the controls. You could inflict massive damage with just one move, and people who were winning and were then defeated because the other player did such a move felt annoyed. You still find this in Tekken 6 when players were clearly leading the fight but lost because of rage. From a good player’s point of view, this is seen as a potential accident. From a more novice player’s point of view it leaves them the possibility to defeat good players. You may play 20 times and loose 19 but there is still a good chance you win at least once. "

Hi,
Here is some test footage of Jun in TTT2.
http://www.avoidingthepuddle.com/sto...=1303339292932
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=p7SwPum9SWA
Gee she looks awesome! Love the new animations and the different/new moves she has got.
To BigFred >> from what little you have seen of Jun, do you feel she is different enough (yes, even at this stage) not to get your 'I am just another clone' award.
It really looks like that Jun will be very popular in TTT2.
I can see it now, not only will people think it is weird that Asuka fights more like classic 'Jun' Than the new TTT2 Jun does.
Come'on Namco, Jun is the original, she should play more like the original not the other way around.
In other words Jun should have the more 'original' move set and Asuka should get the variants that TTT2 jun has now that would have made more sense.
They would never do it, even though as while it makes more sense to me, it would confuse most.
Also as popular as Jun will obviously get in TTT2, that 'annoying debate' will go on and on about who is better, who should stay and who should get the boot, Asuka or Jun.
somethings I can see happening due to the popularity, people will get used to playing Jun in this installment and will be wanting here to return to Story Canon Tekken (Tekken 7) and like the rest of the cast in recent years never get the boot.
Regardless of the 'annoying debate' I think everyone should just except it and hope that both stay to keep everyone happy.
I think it would be a good shake up to the story if Jun returned, even if I am using this (as an excuse) to have her back in the character line up from TTT2 and onwards, rather than want to here more story on the character.
