My Friend was Killed in a Motorcycle Accident Tonight...

Heres the fucked up part.

I was driving down the road where it happened and saw the police and emergency vehicle lights in the distance...

I stopped at a car wash to run my truck through real quick and headed down the road to see what happened.

There is a movie theater parking lot that I pulled into - police tape was blocking off everything.

I could barely make out what kind of bike it was... he had run right into a Cadillac and just destroyed himself...

So I called around to all of my friends who have bikes - nobody knew who it was.

So I left...

About 45 minutes later, my wifes cousin called me and told me who it was... I could not believe I was at my friends accident....

He was speeding and did not have a helmet on...

Please say a prayer for his family... He was a great kid - I knew him since he was a kid, he was good friends with my wifes cousin...

Just graduated college and had a great job lined up... all gone...

I'm really sorry to hear that. Losing someone close to you is one of the hardest things to go through in life.

Doubt there is much I can do or say to comfort you or your friends family but I do understand what you must be going through. If you need someone to talk to lmk.

Still a little tipsy, but I just got back from riding without any protection on aside from a helmet while it was raining, so this is a little sobering.

Just the risk one takes in a hobby that can end deadly. Be content knowing he died doing what he loved.

On another note, I remember my sister getting her motorcycle license and I was always afraid for her safety because she never wore a helmet...

That's just awful. His family has my condolences, that's a lot to deal with out of the blue.

Man that's bad stuff, sorry for your loss :confused:. I've never been brave enough to ride a motorbike and don't think I'd want too, especially without being fully kitted out.

My condolences man. I've had a couple of people I know get seriously injured, one losing a leg. People just don't look out on the road for bikes.

I'm sorry. That's horrible. My mom hates any type of motor bikes, since they're so dangerous. My uncle died while riding a motorcycle a while back.

That really sucks man. I lost a good friend to a motorcycle accident a few years ago. People wonder why I'm so anti-motorcycle sometimes. It's because everyone I know that has one has either wrecked or been killed on it.

I always wear a helmet.
partially because this state makes me, but there are so many other reasons.

My brother's friend lost an entire arm....but he was not being a responsible driver.

sorry to hear about your friend. I have always disliked motorcycles because all it takes is an accident and then your gone. One of my friends was also killed this way a few years back. May your friend rest in peace.

Damn man, sorry to hear that. When I used to ride I always used my helmet and had to yell at people to use theirs. Sounds like his life was just starting out.

I also know someone seriously injured while riding. it's crazy, almost everyone knows someone killed or injured in a bike accident...scary.

If you know your shit on a bike and act RESPONSIBLE, then you'll probably never get in an accident. But whenever you start to speed dangerously beyond your limit or hotdog it, you need to realize the consequences of a few minutes of fun. Apparently that's what happened to Tonk's friend, and a lot of other young men in over their head.


Don't let stories of motorcycle accidents disparage you from ever getting on one...that'd be like hearing stories of train/car/airplane/space shuttle accidents and thinking to yourself "No way am I ever getting in one of those". Riding a bike and going 100 down the highway is one of the best feelings in the world...try it out sometime.

If you live past the first month of motorcycling then you should be straight as far as your skills are concerned.

Sorry to hear about this Mike. I hope his family gets through this as best as they can. There isn't ever something easy about this.

I looked through those comments and that guy is a bit over the top with the "deserved to die" shit.

I don't know, this is a touchy subject for me because I've had friends killed/injured on bikes in similar circumstances. When you aren't riding smart, you put yourself at a lot of risks on the road and unfortunately the potential consequences are never good ones. I won't get on a bike any longer because of the stuff I've seen happen.

My friend & another died instantly when they took a army Land Rover while drunk and crashed it through a wall 8 years ago.Nobody said they deserved it because they were drunk.think its irelevant how someone dies and it should be human fucking decency to keep comments like that to yourself and have respect for the familys.it can happen to any of us.
