Got out of court early today because opposing counsel didn't show up and decided to go see Zombieland.
It was like what I dream about, but with more guns.
Plus, Bill Murray is in it.
Best movie of 2009 for me.

That many guns?
Can't wait.
Saw it today as well. It was a fucking blast from start to finish.
This was an amazing flick. I haven't laughed so hard in ages. And the gore was really well done. Dialogue? Very well-written. Bill Murray's cameo was amazing. See this fucking movie already.
Just got back from seeing it. Lots of laughs, very fun movie, effects were well done. Go see it!
One of the best Zombie movies ever. Period.
Man...you fuckers and your freedom...any of you want to watch my daughter while I go see it?
Shit is has Bill Murray? Zombies, Woody Harrelson, and Bill Murray is like the trifecta of fucking awesome
Gonna go see it tomorrow or monday. Glad to hear its everything I hoped
Saw it last night.
Very entertaining, fun movie.
Zombieland is godsent proof that a popcorn flick can be dumb movie fun and not just a frustrating waste of time to sit through.
I hope you are a one man band on that one. I saw the trailer and it looks like absolute garbage. You know you have a winner when half the trailer shows audience reaction rather than actual scenes of the movie. I wouldn't have thought enough time had passed since Blair Witch that they would start making this kind of movie again already, but I guess they thought we wanted it. Not me.
They showed a trailer for the remake of Nightmare On Elm Street (a wholly unnecesary remake, btw.)
When the words 'Produced by Michael Bay' appeared, the audience laughed.
As hard as they did at any of the jokes during Zombieland.
It was a surreal moment.
Great movie, but needed more boobies.
Saw it yesterday, GREAT B-movie. Doesn't make any pretenses about it trying to be a cinematic masterpiece, just shows you exactly what you paid to see.
Sort of feels like Dead Rising made into a movie but with more humor.
Good to hear. I have been on the fence about this one. Going to have to see it now.
I've been pretty dissapointed by Woody's acting lately; He always looks distracted and self conscious.
I'm hoping this is a return to form... zombie killing form!
anyway, gonna see it next Saturday (while the wife goes to some romantic comedy).
That trailer did indeed look terrible and I'm sure it will be. But in a way, they kind of did make Freddy look a little more like an actual burn victim. At least from that half second they show of his face. I don't know if that's how he actually will look in the movie (and I won't know, because no way will I watch that shit).
Definitely got my money's worth seeing this yesterday afternoon. I normally don't dig zombie films of any kind, be them serious or comedy, but I went with some senior high school friends and had a blast. The scene where Tallahassee barges in on Columbus, effectively cock blocking him with Wichita though had me blurting out... "Oh I would so have shot him for that!" and for some reason the whole theater busted out laughing. Must have been the timing.
Did anyone stick around for Bill Murray after the credits?
I viewed this yesterday and...I thought it was alright. Great makeup work, good casting choices, nice camerawork, etc. But there weren't enough awesome moments in Zombieland...for me. The grocery store scene with the banjo and baseball bat, very nice; dorm room assault...also nice. But other than those two scenes I found myself yawning more than laughing.
Maybe I was in a pessimistic mood, but Zombieland isn't nearly as entertaining as Shaun of the Dead.
Egh no its only a few seconds...Then again I would see this movie again in a heart beat.
Here is a crappy clip of the after credits:

Saw it a second time.
Just as entertaining and enjoyable as the first.
Am I the only one who liked Land of the Dead?
Diary of was shit, and I've just never cared for Day of much.
I enjoyed Land of the Dead a lot. I don't understand the hatred either. Fiddler's Green was a perfect metaphor for class segregation, and class vs. dignity, and pride.
I think people don't like seeing certain faces in certain places. John Leguizamo for instance. He played his role well and was fun to watch, but I can imagine people not being down with him.
It even had Bub in it, ever so briefly.
I likied Land.
Diary was a hell of a lot more thought provoking, IMO. It dealt with the spreading of the virus and information about the spreading of the virus in the modern age. I thought it was an interesting look at a zombie infestation in the modern day.
Day had some good ideas in it, and portrayed what it might actually be like if civilians and scientists got stuck holing up with military people. It's not that much different from what we saw in 28 days later in that respect. Military people see the world around them begin to collapse and they try to establish order. Eventually, one of them gets the big idea that there is no more order besides what they establish. They go from being the emergency contingency to the rulers.
Every one of Romero's movies examines different social aspects of living in such a world, and that's why Romero's zombie movies are my favorite ones.
The new one sounds pretty good.
Try the movie 'The Zombie Diaries' if you like Romero's zombie stuff. It's the closest to a Romero flick in terms of tone, characters and pacing. It's VERY low budget, done by some Brits, but it's an excellent movie, IMO.
Some comic book recommendations if you like zombie survival horror as more than just gore and gratuitous violence.
The Walking Dead
Rotten
Just watched it, was watchable, but wasn't that funny, I dunno, maybe I lost my sense of humor since I registered here and met Kernow.
Probably had a little chuckle to myself at 2 parts.
It drives my wife nuts for the same reason. But ever since AIRPLANE! and Ferris Bueller's Day Off... it's just something I always do. Hell everyone thought I was lying about the ending of the fast & the furious, until they stuck around to see it. I was hoping Emma Stone would've flashed her tits or something then picked up that tactical shotgun, pointed it at the screen and uttered:
"Fuckin zombie fanboi perverts,"
and discharged the shotgun point blank into the camera and effectively US, as the audience. But no such luck. :crying:
You could try logging off of Neo-Geo.com and making some friends maybe?
That fact alone didn't do it for me though. I just found the movie to be quite bad all around.
I'd rather see that idea explored in a film that doesn't utilize the obnoxious shaky-cam first person perspective.
Oh, get better characters too.
I dunno, the whole film just felt cheap to me.
Wait wait, you didn't like Day of the Dead?
Are you referring to the original or dvd remake?
I've only ever seen the original.
It's not bad really.
I wouldn't own it.
I would own Night of the Living Dead and Dawn of the Dead though.
Originals, of course.
Night remake is a fun movie, too. Good in its own way. Worth owning.
Fuck the Dawn remake, though. Fuck it.
Only saw the Night remake once, many years ago.
I just remember it didn't leave a great impression on me.
I want to buy 28 Weeks Later just for the first part of the film.
That's some good zombie action.
I couldn't believe it when he actually left his wife behind. I figured we'd get some hollywood bullshit where either he sacrificed himself (making the mom the main character or some shit) or heroically saved his wife.
But instead he left the dumb bitch behind, like we were all wanting him to do. That was just great. That's probably one of my favorite scenes in a movie ever. Just because it goes against your typical fantasy conventions and saves himself, because his wife was already lost. Awesome.
Another +1 on the Night remake. Excellent movie IMO.
Want to see Zombieland, but I've bee too busy. Hope to get the chance to see it next week.
I don't think ANY of the Romero movies have a big budget feel to them at all, though. Well, maybe the original Night, when you compare it with its horror brethren of the day. But other than that, they've all felt like labors of love made on the cheap.
And I think the shaky cam is necessary for Diary because that is the essence of youtube. That is the essence of the information superhighway. I think that if they explore the ideas presented in Diary in a conventional film presentation, the end result wouldn't be all that interesting. I think the whole voyeuristic aspect of the film, that part of us that is attracted to youtube, would be lost. I largely feel this was the best way for Romero to communicate the idea of Diary.
Interesting thing about Diary: it's the only zombie movie Romero's made that he actually owns. Night is in the public domain due to a copyrighting error and Dawn, Day and Land were all paid for by outside resources so other parties own them.
Night remake is pretty good. Unfairly maligned by the industry at the time but embraced by the fans.
The Night Of The Living Dead 3D is fucking terrible, however. Really, really awful. I'm talking about the one with Sid haig.
Return Of The Living Dead (first one) is very good, too. One of the few 'fast zombie' movies I liked.
I love return.
the whole naked punk rook girl graveyard dancing scene sealed the deal for me.
