I really hope it's more then a few new characters and they change up some of the gameplay. But most of all...
BRING BACK KARIN!
I just want more SFIII characters. Alex, Q, Dudley, Oro, Yang and Yun... Man. That would be awesome. New characters would be nice too.
Hell. If they bring Oro back, that'd be enough to make me switch from my beloved Dictator and actually learn a new character for once. Perish the thought. ;)
Damn right man. I can't strees enough how much I want SFIII characters to get more exposure. I'm a SFIII fanboy and I won't hide it. That game is the business and I felt cheated when SF4 came out as a 3d game taking place before SFIII. I still want my damn reparations in the form of SFIII characters!
In the other thread Deuce brought up the fact of "rehash" characters and that maybe there needs to be new characters. I think it's been proven that both SNK and Capcom SUCK at making new characters. So what can you do to fix that? Bring back the lesser exposed characters.
P.S. they need to let fans make characters and send them in. It seems like we know what fits in their games better than they do.
"...and i JIZZZZZED in my pants."
and i haven't even seen whats been actually added yet! *fanboy-ism*

As per request, here's a list of the supposed changes in Super Street Fighter IV.
And bring back Karin, Skullomania and Doctorine Dark
Skullomania and Doctrine dark are pretty much guaranteed to never be seen in a SF game again even though the EX characters fit into the street fighter universe way better than those garbage ass new characters in SF4.
Another wish if mine is that they change that souless uninspired drivel they call music in SF4. The Street Fighter series is known for it's music, but apparently they said "fuck it" when SF4 came out.
Yeah, I know EX is the black sheep of the Street Fighter Universe, but they had some cool characters and ideas.
I was alright with the music, I liked the remixed style of the older songs, but I hate how only the specific stage songs only play in Vs. mode and you only hear the characters personal songs during the rival fight in one player. I hope they have it that it plays the songs for each character randomly in the update.
How can they have a Super Street Fighter IV when Street Fighter IV Turbo hasn't been released yet?
Less SF3 characters is more like it. You guys may have grown to like their move sets or whatever, but really those designs suck just as much now as they did all those years ago. Outside of 1 or 2 (eh, maybe 3) of them, they just don't fit with Street Fighter.
The character designs in the Alpha games were, as a whole, more fitting and there are still some decent ones to leech from there.
No guy, no buy!
ALL the SF3 characters "fit" the series. When you already have accepted motherfucking Blanka as "fitting" the series, it's pretty hypocritical to draw the line at anyone in SF3. Green fur with orange hair? Are you kidding me? Is Necro a crazier character design than Blanka? No. Is Remy? No.
Except Twelve. Fuck that character.
Giving a fuck about what timeline ended when they named the last installment IV despite taking place before III.
On second thought, giving a fuck about timeline continuity ended when I turned about 15.
Bring back Mike Haggar! :lolz:
The fact that you'd put any SF3 character on par with Blanka is shameful. The character designs in SF3 have always been one of, if not the, biggest complaints with the games. But this isn't news, the first time you saw SF3 you probably wondered what the hell happened yourself.
I'm not a huge fan of the Alpha series or the SF3 series, but if I had to choose which to borrow characters from then it's Alpha for sure. :P
Take a step back and try to look at this objectively.
I like SF2 as much as anyone, but if you can open your eyes and be honest with yourself for just one second, you can admit that Blanka is a crazy design. All of the other designs in SF2 (except arguably Dhalsim) are semi serious takes on various martial artists or whatever. You've got karate guys, a wrestler, a kung fu girl, a boxer, etc.
Then you have a green monster.
Come on. That is out of left field.
Are you really so delusional that you don't see what a weird-looking character that is? The only difference between Blanka's level of craziness and Necro's is that you take Blanka for granted because he's been around so long. You don't know any better anymore.
*yawn*
I've got to agree with you on that. I wish they were much more creative with release sites than just showing a shitty, ominous hint of something to be released (IE. Kojima Productions).
To this day, I think that Nine Inch Nail's viral promotion of Year Zero was a better way to showcase new material both online and offline. You'd think that the video game industry would follow suit.
It is getting rather annoying with all the cock teasing Capcom is doing with this release. Everyone knows it's coming. Capcom has to have given the green light on the damn thing already.
Fucking announce something. Jesus.
I guess I can piggyback on that. That trailer obviously is a Street Fighter 4 game. We know what the game looks like, we know who's in it why not really tease us. Show like a 5 second clip of the new characters or something, you know something that really makes us lose our minds in anticipation. But no, they opt to show some Ken and Ryu bullshit which could easily have been a trailer for the SF4 that's already out.
Nice.
No shot of Hawk's Typhooon. Looks like he might be going in for it on the sixth pic though.
I hope he doesn't play like shit (Gief).
Why is T. Hawk still dressed like a homo?

Looks like Bison took a knee in the chin:

Sweet pics. I hope they're real. Juri looks cool and I don't mind me some T-Hawk.
Cody and Guy would be very welcome additions for me. Classic video game characters appearing in newer games is always a plus for me. And Cody was not very much fun to play in Alpha 3, IMO (come to think of it, I didn't like that game much at all.) And since Final Fight Revenge is a really atrocious fighting game (although kind of fun to play in that 'so bad it's entertaining' way), I'd like to see Cody get a fair shake in a fighting game. No hamburglar costume (except as an alt), please. Doesn't affect the gameplay but it looks silly.
The rest=give or take. If they're in, I'll learn how to play them. If not, I'll play what's there. I'd prefer Alex or Hugo over Makoto or Dudley but that's not saying anything bad about Dudley. I like him, just not as much as Alex or Hugo. Dudley can come and play, too:)
Character specific music regardless of whether or not it's a 'rival battle' would be nice too.
Fix Sagat and Seth.
new chars, whatever. I am more concerned about how the engine will be, I really wanna see some major changes.
Got this info from another person over at ComicBloc.. Note that these are rumored information so I myself cannot verify whether they're accurate or not.
* The previously leaked characters are all said to be in the game. Dee Jay, T. Hawk, Dudley, Ibuki, Makoto, Adon, Cody and Guy. The new characters are rumored to be:
o Hakan - An Arabic grappler obsessed with oil.
o Juri - Evil Asian girl fighter working for Seth.
* All characters will have two Ultras. They will both be available at one time, not selectable like with Third Strike's Super Arts. The commands to execute your Ultras do not overlap.
o It sounds like the characters from Third Strike are set up with their prior Super Arts. They had three in that game, so one will be their Super and the other two their Ultras.
o Gen has four Ultras because of his two fighting styles. One of these is said to be an Air Ultra.
o All characters still have one Super, except Sakura who apparently has a Shinkuu Hadoken (Super Fireball) as well.
* Some characters will have Air Ultras.
* The Bonus Stages will be returning.
* This will be an exclusive arcade release at least for a few months.
* An official announcement is said to be coming at the Tokyo Game Show and on the Japanese Street Fighter 4 blog soon.
* Expect the return of the many familiar Supers, and a few new ones like Metsu Shoryuken. You'll see the return of Chun-Li's Kikosho (Super Fireball), Gouken's Denjin, Sagat's Tiger Cannon (Super Fireball).
* Ibuki has a run command.
* Guile has his Sonic Hurricane move from Marvel vs. Capcom 2.
* Dudley has his Chain combos from Third Strike, plus one additional Chain combo.
* Cody is the only character with an Alpha Counter and he still has his knife. He supposedly needs his knife to perform one of his Ultras.
* Rufus can cancel-break the last hit of his Spectacle Romance, or the launch kick of Space Opera Symphony.
* Guy has his Chain combos.
* Makoto has her Tanden Renki Super from Third Strike.
* Zangief is said to have a 720 degree motion Air Ultra called the Siberian Blizzard.
* The game takes place one year after Street Fighter 4.
* Dudley was searching for his car in Third Strike, in this game he's searching for a rose.
* T. Hawk's storyline involves him protecting Juni or Juli.
* Dhalsim's new Ultra is called the Yoga Shangri'la.
* There's a new gameplay system called Tadan Saving, the phrase implies a multi-hitting or multiple-level Focus Attack.
* The console characters are all said to be added to the upcoming arcade release, with the possible exceptions of Seth and Gouken.
Second post in the thread:
Still, worth quoting for those who missed it.
I guess we'll know for sure tomorrow.
I also don't see any major overhaul of the engine that IV is currently running on. There may be some character specific balancing, but beyond that, it'll likely play the same for the most part. I hope they improve Elf. I really like his character but he's just not competitive without his Hab Dash loop and I can't pull that off for shit online.
Hahahahaha look at T. Hawks pic by his energy bar.
I never said Blanka wasn't teh crazy, there is a lot more that goes into a character's appeal than this crazy factor. It would be like saying Cham Cham was a phenomenal addition to SS2 because Gen-An was in SS1. No no no no, both are crazy character designs, but one of them is garbage.
If you've accepted SF3 character designs you must have a serious hard on for the game, because, honestly, they are still garbage. There is no way around it. Take Ryu/Ken/ChunLi/Akuma out of 3S and whats left? Hard to say, but it sure as hell isn't Street Fighter.
You can look at fighting game series and determine when the bad additions started coming in. And looking at SF: With the post Street Fighter 2 sequels by no means did bad character designs start with SF3, they were already getting derailed with the Alpha series. SF3 is just where the general train wreck starts.
If you still hate SF3 character designs you must have some serious hatred for the game, because, honestly, they are still awesome. There is no way around it.
* except Twelve.
I love the engine, and expanding on it is fine by me. My only huge concern is balancing the game. Sagat and Seth really need to come down while Rose, Vega, Dan Fuerte need to come up.
Balance capcom balance!
In case anyone cares and/or hasn't seen this yet, here is a SF IV tier breakdown that shows the character balance.
http://www.eventhubs.com/guides/2008...cter-rankings/
Are the characters balanced? Look at the math and decide for yourself. I enjoy SF IV and think it's a solid fighter and I always have fun playing it either alone, locally with friends or online. That's all that matters to me.
RE: Character designs.
I like the III designs, but not necessarily more or less than the Alpha designs. The Alpha designs feel more like 'Street Fighter' characters to me than the III designs, but the III designs are perfectly fine in my book for fighting game characters. At least the III roster feel like 'video game characters' and not the fucking fashion show that KOF turned into (on a design level-I like the KOF games overall.)
I don't think the argument of 'Blanka is in II so anything goes' is valid at all, but that doesn't instantly mean III's designs are shit.
Except for Twelve.
I never gave a shit for the 3s crew either but they grew on me. Except Twelve. And Alex. But Hugo needed a rival so wtf are you gonna do.
Remy in particular was a very fucked up design with an unremarkable fighting style and a faggy palette of colors to boot...except the second one with the brown coat and black hair...that was manageable...
But yeah, he turned out to be a pretty fun character to use and imo he definitely had his place in 3s's diverse roster. If nothing else the designs were very fresh and unique; not just a bunch of jacked up roid monsters like in SF4.
Eh I just took part of that dude's retarded post and replaced a few words. I'm glad your opinion differs from mine though.
I'm almost positive that if SF2 was the SF3 cast, and SF3 was the SF2 cast, people would have the same weird hatred for the "new" characters just because they weren't the "old" favorites.
Dudley, Ibuki, Oro, Q, Necro, Urien, Makoto all great designs, imo.
You know, when I first played SFIII I thought Alex was cool. Now I think he's a shitty character design. He looks like a homeless guy on steroids. I'm going to stick by my guns here.
At some point in the 90s, game makers all showed how gay they were by tipping over the bishonen scales. Suddenly, over 50% of any game's cast had to be pretty. This was limited to Japanese game publishers back then, which is strange, because I wasn't aware that Japanese men were all faggots.
Dudley was obviously gay. Not only is the Rolls Royce a gentleman's car (gay), but he did walk around with flowers (homo). Then you get Yun and Yang, the pretty boys ('nuff said). Alex was homeless, but held himself like Fabio. Sean dressed in colorful karate outfits. And they had that skinny black guy that looked like Spinmaster X named Elena. And then of course Gil.
So times move on and Capcom seems to realize they made a really gay game. What did they do? They designed ugly characters thinking that would balance the gayness. Twelve, Urien, Q, Hugo. It was clear that Capcom was confused about how to right its wrong because it never understood what the wrong was. They thought they had too pretty a cast. No, it was too gay. But instead of adding straight characters, they added ugly gay characters.
It should be noted that the gameplay was always a lot of fun.
I don't care about a lot of the old favorites, but a good design is a good design and a bad design is a bad design. SFII had a green bear that could generate electricity. That was bad design. Zangief was bad design, because he had a carpet on his chest. Necro is a bad design because he looks stupid and his moves are combinations of two stupid street fighter characters - Blanka and Dhalsim.
But regardless of all the stupid designs in these games, if the gameplay is good i'll still play them. For example, Samurai Shodown has had awesome character design but I won't play any of them past 4 because they're almost all shit for gameplay. Street Fighter has terrible character design, with the most boring and recycled ideas ever, but good gameplay, and so I end up playing it instead.
Absolutely not, SF3 is an excellent game to play. Almost everything about it tops. We are talking straight character designs for a Street Fighter game here and this is where SF3 falls apart.
I'm not saying the the mold set by SF2 is impossible to overcome. Many many fighting game series have characters that were added in sequels that are nondisposable, anyone who isn't totally jaded can tell you this is an area where SF lacks pretty sorely.
Capcom has simply been unable to make worthwhile additions by and large. I don't think it's because the SF2 12 are untouchable, Akuma is widely accepted as nondisposable.
You can make an argument that any character in SF3 is a great design. But are they great designs in a Street Fighter sense? I'm sure you were just thinking "wow, street fighter really needs a detective that is kind of like a robot as a playable character! hurr" before it happened. Riiight.
Anybody have links to get the pictures? The link provided is dead, I guess everybody hit up the site at the same time and killed it.
Yeah, and after playing Street Fighter 1, I was thinking, "This game with ninjas and karate guys and boxers and Muai Thai practitioners would be perfect if they just added a furry, green monster and a Stretch Armstrong character who wears nothing but baggy shorts with a draw string.
Dumbass.
