I guess it could be a whole new game but I highly doubt it. A new updated version of SF4 would be great. I like the game but there are some things about it that keep me from really getting interested in it. Also, T. Hawk and DeeJay plz.
I really hope it's just a huge DLC pack.

First of all, where the hell is the online update allowing for lobbies? Already talking about a sequel and they can't even get that out.:angry:

I know everyone hopes this will be DLC, but I see Capcom just making this a new release. Plus, I'm sure they will make more online features (quarter lobbies) given that they've got everything else fleshed out with the original SFIV release.
I'll likely buy it even if I do have to pay $60 for it.

Henaki on the Shoryuken.com message boards mentioned he heard through a friend of a friend of a friend that the 10 new characters for Street Fighter IV Dash (Champion Edition) are:
* From Street Fighter 2: Dee Jay and T. Hawk.
* From Street Fighter 3: Dudley, Ibuki and Makoto.
* From Street Fighter Alpha: Adon, Cody and Guy.
* Plus two completely new characters.
He claimed this information would be revealed at, or right around the time the Tokyo Game Show takes place (Sept. 24 - 27).
If if this is true, then Capcom will have my $60

As for a whole new release, I think they have to in order to address things people want like quarter lobbies and doing some rebalancing. They probably need to rewrite stuff that they just aren't able to do with the current game. People want the world via DLC, but it just doesn't work like that. A year apart on releases isn't bad any ways if they can add all that and then some.

DeeJay, Dudley and Makoto are the most exciting characters to be added for me personally. If that is actually true that is. I think all of those would be great additions although I'd love to see some Alpha characters like Birdie, Karin and Charlie/Nash.
But who doesn't want a Rog vs. Dudley matchup?
I heard rumors around the time Gamestop started clearing out their copies at 20 bucks that the price reduction was meant to clear shelf space for an updated version. While I highly doubt we'll hear about another numbered entry in the series anytime soon, I'd be happy with a budget-priced release with an expanded roster.
Gouken was actually one of the more interesting characters to use. Glad he played nothing like a shoto.Quote:

Game was/is great and a lot of fun. I'd even pay for a full new release. It's just money, and these days not really a lot for me.
And hey, maybe SNK-P can learn a thing or two about releasing a 'bigger, better' version of a game a second time in the same year.
I think C. Viper was the most interesting new character in terms of both design and playability. She was familiar but not really like anyone else either. Same thing with Abel.
Have you payed attention to his size? He's fucking atlas! The guy is totally buff. What kind of hair were you expecting him to have? I love the bigass beard too. His alternate costume is pretty cool as well. I think as a design and playability he's a pretty sweet character.Quote:

I'd much rather have a completely different SF game, I really don't wanna do another few years of this same game in a meta form. I could spend hours going over reasons and things in SFIV. The game is pretty good, but I really wouldn't mind if ultra's just went away completely in favor of the older stock super style game. I'm to biased from Alpha 2.
No need for lobbies. I really just want them to update the main game with character music themes, I'd even be willing to pay 10 bucks for a patch that'd allow that.
I guess people wanted Gouken dressed as a pirate or something.

I agree. I'm probably nowhere near as good as you at SF4 but anytime I'm playing it I just wish I was playing ST or something. Its an interesting game and I think newer revisions will make it a lot more enjoyable but for now it just hasn't clicked with me.Quote:

AMEN! scgon and I have been playing Zero 2 the past year, once a week like clockwork, 3 hours min. every time, and the mind games we play with gaining super level or lack thereof are far more satisfying than getting smacked around just to build revenge meter. The thought that an Alpha Counter or Custom Combo (let alone Super) is looming is just much more strategic than using a stock for EX golden moves.Quote:

Great and i just picked up a used copy of SFIV on the (PS3) recently,grumble.....Though if the next version has all the characters unlock maybe.The other being i wouldn't mind seeing a few fighters added such as dudley or alex from SF3.
I'm nothing amazing, I know the engine. The problem with SFIV is it reinvents stuff that was perfectly fine, and no matter who says what, I'll never compare it to a masterpiece like st ever. I just can't stand how rotten certain uphill counter matches are. I am not even a person to care that much about a counter match, because I can develop a gameplan, the problem with IV, is its SOO easy to adapt to things, the better character ends up ontop a good chunk of the time because of this. I've played people who've put way more time into matches then I do, and I use a character that counters that person, and a lot of the time they can't even beat a simple poking game with certain characters. Idealism like this sort of fuels the Abel vs Gief thread I made, because it puts right into view that SFIV isn't a fighter like other fighters. There are some basic rules that can't be defeated at all, no matter how long you play. To win matches vs experts with counter characters is beyond a fun challenge, it requires playing the game in a more 50/50 style manner and its annoying.Quote:

At the end of the day my biggest gripe is the loss of jump advance attack strategy, which was even better in 3S WITH the fucking parry, because jumping is so easy to see in IV.
To really shine in IV, you gotta just quit your day job, because a lot of people would like to think because the execution is pretty simple that they are good, but whats truly good is putting in 5 hours a day 5 days a week at a strong competition arcade.
I just don't like SFIV enough to play a million routines with my characters, because match ups require different play styles that take A LOT of time out of your day through play experiece to form. The basic rules are beastly, and since everyone knows the basics, there is extreme limitation to what you can do creatively. The game has this evening factor to it, and I think capcom did that intentionally so that people who beast on others with one character will end up playing matches that are designed to end it. We gotta look at this game as a game designed to bring back old players, and give the less experienced a chance, but once everyone old school learned those basics, the guys without those mindsets have zero chance at winning, because those vets can switch their games very quickly, the new dudes just don't have all that experience.
SFIV is great, because its deep and requires a lot of time, but over all I just don't find it fun to play, I miss the really intense stuff from 3S, because that game really felt like something unique and awesome, and doing years of that then going to a game thats like CVS2, aka SFIV really can't be that fun for me.
I think Ultras should have like a 10 second timer or something. They should burn out like Samurai Shodown meters.
What annoys me is that they can't be beaten by pokes. I hate when i'm locking down some scrub with corner stuff with rog, and he'll randomly toss out and ultra, its not like I'll lose, but why the hell should they have that priority?
sfiv really has to be one of the most annoying major fighters ever.
of all those new characters listed, 4 of them are characters that I use A LOT. So if this is true then Capcom totally has my attention. A friend of mine told me this earlier today and I didn't believe him fully though. It sounds too good to be true. Now if they could just fix those ugly ass character models.

SFIV's lack of block stun is the reason why you see combos that would go uninterrupted in previous SF games get stuffed in this one. Viper has that problem, where she has a bread-and-butter combo of crouching MP into MP Thunder Knuckle. Let's say a Honda player sees this coming... they can do Ultra right before Viper does MP Thunder Knuckle and nail her. I believe even a regular Torpedo will hit her out of it. You can also DP through this combo with shotos.
It doesn't help that there's easier ways to do special moves in the game... like doing DF, DF instead of F, D, DF. That's how a lot of people who play Ryu or Sagat get opportunities to interrupt a blockstring, do a Focus Attack Dash Cancel into Ultra.
Also, there is a disadvantage for charge characters in this game, mainly because of the difficulty linking Ultras during combos. There are some charge characters that can link into Ultra fairly well (Dictator and Chun Li), but they don't have nearly as many options to link as the others. I hope they will fix that in the upcoming version.
I think there were too many disparaging mismatches in this game that was hard to overcome if you were not an uber-elite player. I have had my problems Viper vs. Zangief... all he needs to do is knock you down and you are down 1/2 your lifebar at least. Viper vs Honda is a nightmare because most of Honda's moves are safe against her. I hope they balance it a tad so that it's not so one-sided.
I'm excited about any update to this game. I would love to play Ibuki again, but I fear she may be either too good or she may be nerfed dramatically. She definitely fits the 3S engine, but I don't know about SFIV. If there were no parries in 3S, Ibuki would be hard to deal with IMO, and there's none of that (at least currently) in SFIV.
And yeah, no Karin in SFIV would be a letdown. Cool original character I wouldn't mind trying again in this type of game.
Ryu's Ultra deals so little damage that it doesn't really matter if you can combo into it. The best feasible combo is an EX Shoryuken -> Cancel -> Ultra and it doesn't hit very hard. Chun-li has a solid combo into ultra, but the timing is not easy at all. Bisons (Dictator) ultra has such awful wind up, I'm not sure which combo you are referring to unless you just mean Focusing into it. The only real application I've found for it is punishing jumping game since its properties are wacky. If you hit someone in the air they'll instantly get glued to the ground and be mowed through, it works, but isn't that great.Quote:
