...and now you can add Ron Artest to that list!

Not to break up the memorial discussion, but that arcade was creepy.
Nice cabs though.
I hope the National Guard and LAPD Riot Squad crack some skulls tomorrow :buttrock:
What was in the 4 slot?
So anyone here get tickets?
So the casket will be there. They thought there would be a delay, but it seems to be on time.
I'm surprised no one tried to steal the hearse. Now that would've been a topper.
They showed the casket on KTLA and they had the feed on CNN. A gaudy gold casket, almost looked like an Egyptian Sarcophagus, which I remember him telling that schmuck Martan Bishiar that he DIDN'T want to be buried in.. go figure.
I'm also pissed off at that fat fuck Peter King. He's a Republican Congressman from fucking Long Island, so I'm glad an asshole like that is representing me as a Long Islander. All he does is come off as a idiot bashing Michael like that. I love people like that that will bash the media for it's constant exposure and all they want is media exposure for themselves. I saw the video on Youtube and of course all of the comments are cherry picked so only if you agree with King, they'll put your comment up on there.
I'm watching good ol' Anderson Cooper lead the friendly team at CNN.
The only mild annoyance is when Roland Martin makes an occasional overstatement.
MJ funneral right now, thank god I fin work
It'd be awesome if Jackson were still alive and it was all a big publicity stunt
whats taking so long for the first act
The casket isn't there yet, they had announced this morning that they were running 30 minutes behind. I think they had Smokey Robinson go up and give those notes from Dianna Ross and Nelson Mandela to ease the crowd and the TV networks.
Side Note: Do you applaud when they bring in the casket?
I remember they had him on the Flintstones once - MICHAEL JACKSTONE!
I also remember a member here had an awesome sig that showed michael throughout the years with the caption - "America. The only place where a poor black boy can grow up to be a rich, white beautiful woman."
I remember someone had an avatar with Micheal Jackson as totally white who was obsessed with him got permabanned about 3 years ago.
What an interesting crowd:
Spike Lee, Wesley Snipes, the Kardashians, Lou Ferrigno, Jaleel White, Elizabeth Berkley, Barbara Walters, Tyler Perry, LeVar Burton --now that's a movie that could be interesting.
So people did cheer for the casket...
so i CRIED during the Mariah Carey performance, call me a fucken baby
Lionel Ritchie was good as always.
Too bad it was a closed casket, but that would've been a bit too weird, the more I think about it.
Good montage after Berry Gordy.
Hot damn, Stevie Wonder's words made me sad --and I appreciated his song choice, I really love his early 70s stuff.
I just realized Jackson's pall bearers (his brothers) are all wearing one white, sequin glove :) [some are opposites, so I assume they set it up so that the gloved hands would hold the casket]
And now we get to see Kobe and Magic, together in the Staples Center --just not in the way many would've expected.
(Magic's put on a bit of weight, you wouldn't be surprised if someone told you he were former NFL DE)
---
Speaking of dramatic weight loss, I can't stop admiring Al Sharpton (and his sensible approach). And damned if he's not a great speaker --I want him to speak at my memorial service.
---
Usher made a nice recovery from the bland, long-winded speech by the minor politician.
But wtf is with Michael's kid chewing gum the whole time?
---
Speaking of kids, who invited the 12 year old Persian kid to start singing? [EDIT: if Ortega is right, I guess Michael sort of did]
---
Holy fuck, the guy who opened "We are the World" is the scary/creepiest looking person in the whole arena (including the casket)
---
Listening to his daughter, Paris, was also pretty sad.
The "We Are The World" guy was fuck-ugly and should've been shot in the head onsight. Shit, I thought they were doing a "Thriller" number when I walked in for he really could pass as a zombie.
Watching Paris speak was heartbreaking. Goddamn. :crying:
That was a terrible memorial if you ask me, tone deaf singing from mariah and the others. As sad as I am about his death, I think it could of been much better, some edited video with some touching bits in it would of really touched me more than that turnout. He deserved much better than that bullshit, I got bored and turned over to my name is earl, and that's a terrible show. It was more like a show for lame stars to try and up their reputations in the music industry. All the speeches were dull and meaningless, I'm disappointed.
And the biggest question is....was Michael really in that casket.
I just realized Michael Jackson's greatest gift to science is only now being realized --in his intense desire to put on an amazing stage show, he managed to clone the world's first human-velociraptor hybrid. At least they got to trot it out for the memorial service:

Al Sharpton told the truth about the barriers
The world morned for this man, even Princess Di wasn't this close compared to MJ nor will the effect ever be either
saw a headline today asking 'what are you doing to celebrate the life of michael jackson'?
as if i'm obligated and should feel guilty for doing nothing
i stared at a 13-yr old's ass for a bit longer than i should have, that's about the best i can do mike, sorry
in all fairness i really doubt if he would've blinked once if i OD'ed
Well I was at Anime Expo throughout most of last week leading up to this. I'll say it was quiet and somber up until Sunday when people started checking into hotels nearby.
I will never understand how people feel a personal connection to any celebrity.
Screaming as someone exits a limo does not qualify you to be at a memorial service.
I don't feel a personal connection to most of my extended family when they die, you won't catch me caring about any of this.
idk man its wierd i never knew the guy but i grew up listenting to him hell i remember as a kid having his beat it jacket or in the third grade doin man in the mirror on stage at school with my class mates his music was part of my childhood so i guess thats where i got emotional hearing him pass.his passing is my childhood being raped no pun intended
i mean just think im sure there someone out there whos work you admire imaging that person passing away im sure it will affect you a little ar least a lil
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!!!
For Christ's sake, it weirds me the fuck out when people act like someone murdered their puppy when a celebrity they've never come within miles of dies.
Happens with all kinds of celebrities, this ain't just a MJ thing.
Crazy fucking people. Crying and shit.
I swear when Oprah dies it's gonna shut this country down for two weeks straight.
I used to watch MJ videos growing up and just seeing his memorial service this early in my life hurts. Like Stevie Wonder said, this is something he didn't want to have to do. God wanted MJ more than we did so we have to all accept that.
RIP Micheal Joseph Jackson. You'll be missed by the world and you sure as hell will be missed by me!
Peace and love!
P.S.
Peter King needs to eat a plate of dicks.
i would have to agree with evil son. Its more of a role that he and his music played in people's lives . . i remember sitting in front of the TV when i was like 11-12 waiting for the premiere of "its black its white" with my brother. . one of the few things we had in common. . . i also got a bit choked up when paris went on and said a couple of words . . . i mean c'mon, to her he wasn't the king of pop but rather, her father who would sing to her and put her to bed. . . . rip mike. . .i will miss you. . .
Just got home from work. Saw the highlights.
Seeing MJ's daughter speech was so sad. :crying:
RIP MJ.
Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but it looks like Buckethead has written and uploaded a song for Jackson called The Homing Beacon. Pretty cool song.

Was real busy at work today and didn't get a chance to even look at the highlights of the memorial services but I'm sure there's plenty of places that are replaying it. I'll catch on it later.
it aint about changing the world man its the affect that person has on you imagine be what ever it is u like in life weather it be a musical artist or whatever it is.what ever your fav thing is imagine its creator dying an the whole world feellin the same pain you feeling or mourning youd understand what these fans lost.
I honestly am a little sad. I know it's dumb and that he probably wouldn't have come out with any more good songs, but I enjoyed Beat it, Billie Jean, and a couple of others so it's sad to see him go.
At the same time I kind of agree with Bobak/Galfordo/Southtown/etc. about how silly the whole spectacle is. Everyone's forgotten about health care reform and other things that are actually important
I haven't watched anything yet, I'll have to check out some of the speeches.
Well, this is a little debatable. I mean, he didn't come up with a cure for AIDS or anything, but he sure as hell donated millions upon millions of dollars to multiple charities.
So I'm sure he's made an impact on many lives out there.
Plus, his music was groundbreaking in the late '70s all the way through the early '90s.
But I agree with you on one thing: it's nothing to lose sleep over. I didn't know him personally so it doesn't have any impact on me.
