This is probably surprisingly affordable to put on because AEG was the company putting on the O2 in London, and it owns the Staples Center and new Nokia Theater across the street (in fact they were using the Staples Center as a practice facility before he died). Damn, I was in SoCal this past week --wish I was still there. I enjoy big public spectacles like sports celebrations and other things. This one promises to be raucous.
I'll be at the dentist Tuesday morning.
I'd honestly rather be there than watching this spectacle on tv.
EDIT: Ringling Brothers had to let them do this because they realized for one day they would no longer be the greatest show on Earth.
They know where the true circus will be July 7.

If they make a biopic of Jackson, I would chose either Spike Lee or John Waters as the writer/director. Actually, I would prefer them to concurrently make the two movies and then release them together.
Oh god, I forgot all about the biopic thing. Good god... We run the risk of having a truly terrible movie foisted upon us next year.
Though John Waters.... That could be pretty good. Let's hope someone as good as him gets to make it. Because make no mistake — that shit's in preproduction as we speak, I have no doubt.
The biopic was kind of an elephant in the room, wasn't it? Dying right before a comeback tour? How made-for-TV is that?

Jackson's money problems were from his foolish lifestyle: living like he was still raking in tons of money when his assets weren't growing and taking loans, using his asset as collateral, to cover the difference. If MJ had simply cut back to being a regular multi-millionaire, he would've been okay. But he was too foolish to accept that, and he had plenty of leeches around him telling him he would be okay.
It makes me think of Mike Tyson: I got to hear James Toback (director of Tyson) talk about Iron Mike a few months ago after they screened his documentary at the local film fest, and he said Tyson thinks he's financially in trouble, but he's basing it on how ridiculously rich he was at one time --now he doesn't think having $20m is a lot of money... LOL.
