Hooray for Steroids.
I hope he hurries up and gets that next one because when I go to the Marlins game this month I want to make sure I get some good seats. Also Blues Traveler will be playing after the game. w00t
I was hoping he'd slow down the pace seeing how I had tix to all three games when the Giants were in town next week. He'll take tomorrow off and break the record on their homestand starting monday.
Pro wrestling is the most steroid infested sport known to man.Quote:

So let Bonds soak up the heat for the steroid generation, demonize him, but then just wait 10 more years (at the most, maybe just 7) before Rodriguez passes him by.
Whether or not he is on steroids is a whole different issue, but at least he is a leaner more legitimate looking athlete.
Oh, I did miss 755, and I couldn't really care, but I would be happy to catch 756 so I could retire.
OK? :rolleyes:Quote:

How anyone can cheer him is incredible.
He's a cheat no matter how you or anyone tries to spin it.
What a lot of people seem to ignore is that based on his grand jury testimony, he never denied using steroids. He just denied knowingly using the Cream and the Clear.
This record belongs to Henry Aaron plain and simple. Bonds can hit as many as he would like. His homeruns became meaningless during the 1999 season. One can only hope he will get indicted because I think that would open the door to perhaps erasing the record of his homeruns.
Hell, I haven't been watching most of this season because Bonds has always been a topic. That and the Cubs weren't doing so hot for a while there (hooray for being only one game back now).Quote:

Bond's own 'kiss my ass' attitude I usually see him has doesn't help his situation anymore.
I would be nice if he does get indicted and have his record stricken from the books. He doesn't deserve to have the distinction he's going to get with just one more homer. All he deserves now is to be branded a cheat and have that be his legacy. Truly a disgrace.
You gotta be kidding me. Marlins-Giants and Blues Traveler? Damnit, I'll be working and won't have hardly any time to travel. :mad_2:Quote:

Look it's not just Bud Selig.Quote:

The blame falls on MLB as a whole.
The owners didn't give a shit because they have the eternal belief that homeruns sell tickets.
The players didn't think it was ok to rat out teammates because of loyalty, which in itself is ironic considering that the loyalty of most players belongs to the almighty dollar.
Bud Selig is an owner's commissioner, and doing something about the steroid issue at an earlier date was not something he was going to do. It's about not rocking the boat because that can upset profits. Let's not forget, as an interim commissioner he was still the owner of the Milwaukee Brewers. Sure he did sell the team, but it took far too long for it to happen.
I highly doubt baseball would have gotten itself in the position that it did had Bart Giamatti or Fay Vincent been commissioner at this time.
Let's face it, had Congress not gotten involved, the odds of those positive test suspensions would not have been bumped up to what they are now.
Roger Goodell is probably the best commissioner I've seen to date in sports. He has a low tolerance level for bullshit in the NFL. Too bad he can't take over baseball as well.
This is very relevant to a thread about an actual sport, not a predetermined show.Quote:

PS: Plus Bonds is a worthless prick, which is almost reason enough.
MLB wants more homeruns, etc which means they covertly approve steroids/HGH. That's why all these cheaters are still playing the game.

People want more exciting baseball, and drugged out athletes provide that. Although it'd be more amusing if they were coked out.
I can't wait til they introduce blurnsball ala Futurama.
I'd rather have Pro Thunderball.Quote:

I was thinking, let all athletes do roids and drugs and quit this charade
This year Tour de France was a joke, and last year an even bigger one. All of Lance's tours were on the rumors on heavy roid usage.
Juventus winning several tournaments and filling their bodies with shit (Yea, you Zidane)
So it provides a better show (And manboobs)
This was after taking 10 steps onto the field and right before he started sweating blood.Quote:

good one
I was at the game yesterday hoping to make money by catching 755 but I was sitting in left field while the ball went flying to the opposite right field.
The crowd I was sitting at booed with all of there might and the only people cheering were Giant fans.
In my eyes:
Single season HR record: 61 HRs held by Roger Maris
Career HR record: 755 HRs held by Henry Aaron
I don't agree, the record will be Bonds, you can hardly compare records from one to the next.Quote:

Does that mean that Cy Young (damn you norton) should have an asterisk for his wins record because in his day teams used a 2 pitcher rotation, with almost no relief pitching, meaning that pitchers had far more chances at wins. Meanwhile, Glavine just barely reached 300 wins because of a 5 man rotation, heavy pitch count management, set up men, relievers, and closers.

Maris did neither. He had 3 outstanding seasons.....
The rest was rather blehh....
Maybe they should let Brady Anderson in the hall too....
I hear Tim Raines is eligible for the Hall as well.Quote:

I was listening to NPR this morning and they described the person who caught the ball as a 22yo who was escorted out of the stadium by security, bloodied, for his own protection.Quote:

I'm curious, how many of you whining about Bonds actually sit down and watch a full baseball game on a regular basis?
As long as I am home, I watch full baseball games.Quote:

You seem to think hand-eye coordination is the sole factor for his achieving this tainted record. You combine the fact that he already had excellent hand-eye coordination before he started juicing, with the power HGH, the Cream, and the Clear gave him, that's the only reason he even hit all the homeruns he did.
Without that stuff, estimates place his homerun total in the low 600's at best based upon his numbers prior to the 1999 season.
Because I'm not going to target one player over a problem that tainted the entire sport.Quote:
