My favorite has to be the good ol' NES. Played it a lot during my childhood. Still have lots of my old NES games. The NES has a certain charm to it, that just makes it a piece of video game history. Not to mention the games; Castlevania, Mega Man, Contra, Super Mario, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Dragon Warrior, and the list goes on. So, my pick is the NES.

I agree with Super Nintendo, just so many great games from both Nintendo themselves and third parties. The original Nintendo is definitely up there too. I'm actually having a hard time selecting one system over the other.
Hard to choose between NES and SNES. So many good games for each. But we were virgin gamers then, so maybe that makes a difference.
It definitely wasn't the N64 or GC.

SNES, even though the hardware was crap, the 3728198732189 helper chips in the various cartridges made for some great looking games.
SNES awesome as fuck.

SNES, after that they lost too many deals with companies, the N64 though had great games but was very expensive and carts were a dead concept.

The SFC hardware was crap? I don't know, I recall it being able to display more colors than the MD and deliver better sound.
I had the most fun with the SFC I would say, but regarding SFC vs GC -- I would take Resident Evil 4 over any SFC game.
The NES for what it did for gaming.
The SNES for the games themselves.
I'd have to go with the original gameboy. As far as functionality and ability goes, it wasnt the greatest, with the pea green screen, and no light, but it started handheld gaming and turned it into what it is today.
The CPU was terrible, and the weird selectable bus was a horrible idea. The CPU had to drop down to 1.79 MHz (NES speeds) to access certain I/O functions.Quote:

In execution SNES. Lots of good games.
System that could have been just as good as the PS2 if the developers gave it a chance. Gamecube. Its very sad. A very well made 3d machine that was crippled by its kiddie image.

as much as I love some of the classic NES games, I gotta give it to the SNES just for the WOW factor. playing simi 3d games a la mode 7 like Super Mario Kart hours on end was fuckin awsome, and then true 3D games like Starfox later on, i swear Super-FX chip was ahead of it's time.

N64 had numerous shortcomings, however mario 64 was truly revolutionary.

Even tho, the correct answer is either the SNES or the Gameboy, Smash Bros 64 is just way too damn good. Best nintendo game ever (of course I know no one else will agree) :make_fac:
I don't know about Smash Bros being the best game Nintendo game ever, but, Super Smash Bros Melee is the best Nintendo Gamecube game out there. Period. No GC game out there can match it. Not Metroid Prime, Zelda: Wind Waker, or Mario Sunshine, none of those hold a candle to SSBM.Quote:

Super Famicom/SNES was their single finest hardware achievement, solely because of all the AAA titles for it. No better library, rivaled only by the PS2 for the number of absolute must-play titles.
Famicom/NES was the most important piece of hardware for the industry. Ever.
The rebirth of consoles from the ashes of the crash laid the foundation for just about every major law of how the business works today.
N64 was still an innovative machine, and had Nintendo been smarter about the paradigm shift to CD-ROM, it might have been a different kind of horse-race altogether. The controller was obviously wildly influential, as was Mario 64 and plenty of other titles for the machine (Zelda, Goldeneye, etc).
GameCube has some excellent games, but it just never really had a chance after N64 crippled the Big N's third-party relationships.
Wii seems to be the rebirth of the brand...but it remains to be seen if they can maintain the momentum. Sony and MS have billions in the bank and aren't going away...but Wii seems to have generated an entirely new audience that no one else had cared to court.
