To be honest, I'm indifferent about it, but since the wife wants to see it, we'll probably end up catching it in the theaters.

looks good.
More than the transformers franchise ever deserved.
Cant wait to see it. Might actually be the first worthwhile summer blockbuster of 2007.
Movie of the summer.
The last trailer I saw the other day was incredible. This movie is going to be great.
Said it once, I'll say it again, Fuck This Movie.
i saw the trailer for it before shrek 3. wow... i was pissed. fuck that movie, i refuse to see it.
the movie looks like it'll be fun, lot of explosions and CG and whatnot.
i'll watch it for sure, but i'm still not so sure about the whole micheal bay thing..

Doesnt anyone remember when Godzilla (US) came out, and they had all the cool trailers and shit? Oh and tons of toys. TONS.
But then the movie came out, and then the dvd came out, and then nobody fucking cared anymore because it all sucked?
Pretty much whats going to happen with TF. Itll be a big summer fad, the toys will flood the market (and also put a damper on the main toyline that people actually like), and then in about 6 months it will all hit the bargain bin and nobody will care.
In two years it will become the next joke among fans.
Meh, I'll stick with the animated movie since this uber train wreck from Bay & Steve was bad from day 1
It looks like an okay mindless action movie as its own thing. The robots still look like walking junk-heaps, though. Like they have magnetic skeletons that just attracted whatever loose metalic debris was in the area which then stuck to them in random, jutting shapes. And every line of dialogue uttered by a human in the new trailer is so unbelievably over the top. I think Nes' Godzilla USA analogy is on the money.
Quoted for truth. Take an awesome old-school toy/comic property, change the fucking character designs so they are damn near unrecognizable, then have it directed by the biggest piece-of-shit hack that ever crawled out of the HollywoodQuote:

End of line.
Well I think it looks cool.......even though it isn't Transformers.
At least they have the transformation sound? I've been on the ropes with this one for a while, despite my lack of overall knowledge for the franchise. I'll see it, but I'm not expecting much.
I noticed they kind of superimposed the noise over the first Optimus scene. It wasnt there in the previous trailers.Quote:

Either way, still not going to be very good in the long run.
Huge opening weekend and straight down the shitter from there.
Looks like fun to me. Fuck the crabby haterz, they just have this thing against fun.

That's out of line. :emb: I love your selective jadedness, that allows you to shit on a classic and widely beloved childrens cartoon, while simultaneously embracing a mindless 120 minute long explosion filmed by Bay.Quote:

Every big movie released these days coincides with a toy line. Using the nesagwa Godzilla logic some of you have embraced means that Spiderman 1 2 and 3, Pirates, Shreck, Star Wars 1, 11 and 111 , etc, should have been big financial disasters as well.
Take off the rose tinted faggot goggles.
Michael Bay…let’s look at some of his past works shall we? (movie-Rotten Tomatoes score)
The Hitcher- 20%
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning- 14%
Texas Chainsaw Massacre- 36%
The Island- 40%
The Amityville Horror- 23%
Pearl Harbor- 25%
Armageddon- 41%
Bad Boys II- 25%
The Rock- 63%
Bad Boys- 44%
Yup, that pretty much hits the nail on the head. Over 10 years worth of films and only one that came even close to being worth half a shit. His stuff is nothing more than mindless fluff wrapped up in a shiny explosion ridden package.
I strongly doubt I’ll watch the abortion…a great franchise ruined by a shitty director.
Possibly you should remove your head from deep within your colon and try actually watching the 80’s animated film…it’s actually quite good. (This will have a dual effect of not only getting the shit taste out of your mouth, but also ending the “talking out of your ass” problem you seem to have as well)Quote:

Thank you sir. Most TF fans will admit, the actual animated TV series is nigh unwatchable now. However, the toys and overall story (as most embodied by the animated movie) were/are still fucking cool, and this movie looks Primed (ha-ha) to obliterate all of that.Quote:

Any film can be summed up into a single sentence thus cheapening it. If done correctly, Transformers could have been good (note the word "good"...not masterpiece). That's all I wanted. Michael Bay is a H-A-C-K and it is proven by the lackluster quality of his work...this is my beef. Thanks to him, this movie was fucked before the cameras even started rolling.

It would have been cool as shit to see a CG/live actor remake of the 80's film, it really had a decent story and would translate well. It's only flaw now is it's age...it shows.
The same thing happened with Final Fantasy. They changed the formula. They made it too strange for the common public and not FF enough for the true fans. It was a flop. Advent Children was another story, with the fans (which there are many out there), it was well received. If Transformers had stayed true to the franchise and not been completely gutted save the names, it would have been a hit with the fans. Fuck the 12 year old kids who “don’t get it”…
They’ll get the Power Ranger and Pokemon movies in 20 years or so…
Take off the 'cobble together pieces of five posters different arguments in an attempt to make your broken point seem halfway sensible' goggles. Did I say anything about financial success or disaster? Maybe you base your like or dislike of a movie on how much money it makes. I don't. You pointed out that the Transformers cartoon was a toy commercial. Well, no shit. That's not exactly a Study in Scarlet right there. I pointed out that this movie is also a toy commercial, which negates your argument. That is all.Quote:

I'm going to watch this in IMAX on the 4th, can't fucking wait. If it sucks then oh well, at least I'll be qualified to say so. But you guys keep taking your psuedo-political stand against Micheal Bay, it's really changing the world.
As far as Bay's credentials, I had fun watching Armageddon, Pearl Harbor and The Rock, so there's a great chance Transformers is for me. I really scratch my head at what some of you bozos expect? If you want deep introspective films, go buy some fucking Criterion dvds and sulk for 2 hours. Me, I'm in the mood for a 120 minute explosion, where do I sign up?
Fixed...Quote:

I've said this hundreds of times within the last year so I might as well say it again: I'm all for mindless action movies. Hell, I own every Jean Claude Van Damme DVD that's been released thus far/ That being said, if Michael Bay wanted to make another mindless action movie more power to him and if said movie was to incorporate giant robots from outer space so be it. Call it "Giant Fucking Robots from Outer Space" and be done with it. Don't slap the Transformers name on it in hopes of getting asses in the seats on name value alone. This shit is so far removed from its source material its not funny. They just took Transformers names and slapped them on what looks to be erector sets from hell. They couldn't even get the transformation sound right. Even producer Don Murphy told the fandom to "go to hell" and that they (Bay and company) were going to make the movie that they wanted to. Michael Bay said he would only do a Transformers movie if he could do it "realistically". I'm having a real hard time figuring out where "realism" fits in in a story about robots from outer space.Quote:

Admit it, the only reason people spend thousands of $$ on pimped-out Plasma set-ups and honking Home Theatre systems is to watch those labotomized popcorn action flicks.
Somehow I doubt the first movie a guy pops in his player after setting up his HT system is Girl with a Pearl Earring.
It's not hard to understand, I have my own bigotry towards certain movies. But after seeing all the vitriol against Rocky 6 pre-release, and how that movie rocked ass, I'm going to withhold judgement until I've seen Transformers, it's gotta be better than fucking Pirates for cryin out loud.Quote:

Megatron looks way different but I'll give it a shot, it's not like there haven't been at least 5 incantations of Megs throughout the TF universe, he was at least a tank and a dragon at some point.
I grew up on TF just as some of you guys did, I have all the DVD sets of G1 and watched the series on TV in 1985 ok? I know all about it, and I don't see how this movie is going to ruin the TF legacy. The show isn't going to be destroyed, Nazis aren't going to confiscate our dvds, the cartoon will still be there to watch in all it's glory. This movie has potential to be a fun time hangin out with my buds at the IMAX, so I'm going to see it.
I was very pissed about this at first.
The designs I still dont like very much.
The prequel comics were awesome though. Great story. I think if the story is good and not too mangled by Bay it could be okay.
The Rock is fantastic.
I will be seeing it opening week.
I realize there are still people that think G1 is as good as it will ever get, and that's fine. I grew up with G1, it was my absolute favorite as a child, but I think your expectations are unrealistic if you think the film should emulate every detail of it. A G1 film has already been made and you guys can enjoy that one. Stay at home and hug it in the closet with your old toys while the rest of us enjoy the new film.
I wasn't feeling some of the character designs when they were leaked onto the internet except for Prime, but now that I've seen it in action I think they look terrific. Most importantly they work well in a real environment, much better than the old cartoon style would have.
I just don't understand how people get off on Michael Bay movies.
Seriously, The Rock was OK...but that's the last remotely good thing he made, and that probably had a lot more to do with the presence of Sean Connery and pre-Gone-In-60-Seconds-retarded Nicholas Cage (whom I still prefer to think of as the burger flipper from fast times when he was Nick Coppola...go figure).
That spastic fucking MTV-style editing just kills me. Don't get me wrong...I love a good romp with mindless violence...the OG Die Hard, Hard Boiled, most James Cameron flicks like the Terminator films, True Lies, Total Recall, Robocop...I can get with all that stuff. What I can't stand is the massive lack of soul in this guy's movies.
It's stupid...and it's plastic.
Don't even bring up Pearl Harbor...the flaming mother of all turds.
Seriously, if a director feels the need to "jazz up" the events of 12/7/41, with ridiculous "bomb's eye" views of attacks and other shit...just hang it up man.
No talent...just a visual spaz who likes explosions and CG and couldn't conjure up an honest emotion in a film to save his life.
BTW, I didn't hate on Rocky Balboa before it came out...I just said I'd see it and I was actually pleasantly surprised. I thought the trailer actually did a lot to sell that movie. These TF trailers just give me a headache....even worse than the one I got when I first saw the bastardized designs.
it look fun. I watch it.
God, this place is sounding more and more like the SRK forums everyday.
Anyway... I don't think that this movie will be great. I don't think this movie will be terrible. I'm trying to avoid having any expectations before I see the damm thing, but since this is a Michael Bay film, I already know some things:
- The action scenes will throughly kick ass
- Everything that is NOT an action scene will drag/suck, ESPECIALLY the completely unnecessary romantic side-plot.
- The main characters will probably be annoying. The only interesting/cool characters will be on-screen for only a few seconds (probably during an action scene).
- I'm going, not to see a 90 minute movie, but to watch 20-30 minutes of awsome action scenes, while impatently waiting through 70-60 minutes of crap filler.
- Good, Bad, or not so bad, the fans will be upset no matter what (so fuck them).
