My knee got messed up from stupidity of twisting my knee. First time it was football and using cleats for the first time, I wasnt used to the traction and twisted it. I thought it was just gout so I was taking medication and the swelling went down about 95% over a 2-3 week span but my knee didnt feel like it was healing as it still felt like my kneecap was pushing against something. That usually means there's liquid above or below the kneecap as your kneecap has to move up and down when you walk.
So I went to my orthopedic surgeon and he said to get an MRI so we got one and he said there is a crap load of stuff in there so he had to suck and cut a lot of stuff including the crystals, he also said that there was a cyst that was forming so they were able to cut it out.
So here I am almost 2 weeks after the surgery. What was fucked up was right before my surgery the doctor was like "With this kind of trauma on your knee, your gout might flare up after the surgry" It flared up on BOTH my feet so I couldnt walk let alone stand. I had to push back my physical therapy since I couldnt stand either.
So now my feet have healed but the earliest therapy I could get is Wednesday of next week. I really need it as my tendons on my knee healed too tight and I can only bend my knee so far 90 degrees and thats it, nothing less.
For those of you wondering what gout feels like there is 2 types usually. One is you get it on your big toe which makes it feel like your walking on broken glass BUT you can easily lift your toe while walking, my stepfather has that one.
The one I have is the one that flares up around your ankle so you cant put any weight on it as the crystals are like sand and will grind away at your cartilidge. The best way I can describe the pain is like getting a bad sprained ankle and someone is constantly rotating your foot causing the pain to increase in waves.

I didn't think gout was hereditary... just caused by a bad diet. My grandma developed it and they just told her to eat better and it went away.

Yes gout is hereditary but not only caused by a bad diet, it can also be triggered when you inflict trauma to the area. I get so pissed if I'm walking and I step on a small rock that gives me a slight sprain. I keep saying that better not flare up and take some medication as soon as I go home.Quote:
