This game should be good enough to have its own thread. Every time I see a video of this game I want it more. Probably gonna pick it up on release day. This should end the Wii's little dry spell.

Play really liked it, but said that the game's flow is interupted by manditory pseudo-RPG story cutscenes. That sounds like something that could ruin a game like this. Why couldn't they just make Paper Mario 3? Oooo, wait... I still haven't beaten the 2nd one..
What's wrong with cutscenes here and there?Quote:

Didn't I already start a Super Paper Mario thread like two weeks ago? Yep, sure did.
Game look awesome, anyhow.
I don't mind that this is basically going to be the SotN of Paper Mario games.Quote:

I watched a boatload of vids today, and this looks really good.
IGN put up some positive hands-on impressions:

Hopefully this will be as good as Paper Mario 2. That was the best experience I've had on the Gamecube.
Agreed. It was among my favorite GC games.Quote:

Nice. I love the whole look of this game. I only hope it won't be too short.Quote:

New in-game footage. Looks amazing. Wasn't going to pick this up, but I am now.
IGN put up new videos of stuff we haven't seen:

The "Bowser Owns" level is particularly awesome.
I'm pretty excited, especially about the minimal RPG elements.
Which bit? Sitting there and watching a pointless mine cart ride where you do nothing at all?Quote:

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the part where Bowser turns fucking huge and 8-bit. And how do you know you can't do anything during the mine cart part? And sorry if that turning huge animation went on 7 seconds longer than you would have liked. I would agree that it would be nice to skip it after a few times, but c'mon man, you're just looking for faults.Quote:

Nice. Now I'm just debating whether I'll pick it up launch day or wait for a used copy.Quote:

Release date is Monday right? Anyone know of any stores getting it a day or so early?

For regular stores, is Monday the 9th going to be the ship date or is it one of those occasions where this is actually the release date?
As of now, I am planning on picking up my copy on Tuesday. It is suppose to be at least 20 hours long. Looks fantastic.
Ship date is the 9th, regular release date will be the 10th. Nintendo World always gets new titles in a day early or on their ship date.Quote:

Nevertheless, if you are ever in New York City, it is definitely worth a visit just to see the display cases of all of the different and unique systems and such. More convenient than the early releases, is the fact that the employees actually know their product very well, and if they say something is coming in on a certain day, it will be there. Also, it is the only non-import store that I know of which carries every color of the DS lite (Yes, even the Japan only ones), always has them in stock and charges regular prices for them.
Maybe some people can post some impressions once they get this?
I have read that some Targets put it out but I don't know if that is correct or not. I won't have my copy until tomorrow.

A way to get Super Paper Mario for $30.
I might try that. I guess using two coupons would be the tricky part.Quote:

But hand? Elaborate, knave!
Both of those games are 19.99 at EB/GameStop as well. They dropped a couple weeks back. That doesn't mean that they won't take them in though. But like you said, you may want to call or check the print on the deal.Quote:

I'm going to C.C tomorrow because they had advertised in the flyer, "Game in store by 2pm Tuesday or you get a 20 dollar gift card" If they don't have it, I'll get 20 bucks off then head on down to Worst Buy with the 5 dollar coupon. (Thanks Butta.)
What the hell? Nintendo says it's being released today, but I called four places and all of them said they wouldn't have it until tomorrow.
It's almost as if it takes a day to get there.... like they're shipping them from Nintendo or something. Hmmm. I can't figure this mystery out. Sorry.Quote:

Yup, definately, though I just beat the first chapter, and I have to say I'm impressed so far. It isn't totally a flat out platformer, but it makes you want to take your time instead of forcing you too. I'm constantly switching between dimensions, hoping I don't miss anything, reading everything, pointing at the screen constantly to see if there is anything hidden, etc.Quote:

Well I went to the CC by me, thinking I'd walk out with a 20 dollar card, but they had two stacks of 5 games a piece in the display case and I got the first one.
The game is friggen wordy as hell, I just wanted them to get to the game! I'm going to play more of it, I beat the first mini boss and I'm stuck, so hopefully after a break I'll be able to see what I was stuck on.
Ugh why do EB/GameStop people have to shove so much crap on you? I know it's a policy but the cashier asked me like 5 times if I wanted to reserve Mario Party 8 when I went to go purchase Super Paper Mario earlier. Which I said no because I know it will be there come release day.
I will try to get some play in tonight.

The game is cool so far. I'm kinda disappointed it is not a straight up platformer. And I knew there would be a shit load of dialog cause of the other two paper mario games. But the game is still nice.
I agree. You can actually get this game for $45 at Best Buy with the same coupon. So you only save $15, and it's an extra trip. Who knows if it will even work?Quote:

Well I put about an hour and a half into this game and I think it is fantastic. I am taking my time, so I am just now starting 1-4. It is a little wordy but this is as close to a Super Mario Bros. game as we are ever going to get on a next gen console and I am very happy with it.
I thought I was exaggerating in my mind how much text there was... Glad to see that I'm not the only one who was beaten down by the text barrage. Haven't gotten too far yet. I'm midway through 1-2 (I think) and I'm enjoying it so far. Kinda disappointed that you can't throw shells right off the bat, but what can ya do? I have great faith that this game will deliver when it's all said and done. Hope I'm not let down.
I'm on 2-3 and enjoying it still
