Yea, dub's definitely one of the best sellers around here.

I resurrected my old pimped out 520n today (turns out that all it needed was a new power supply and fan assembly for the motherboard) so I have more than enough computers to fool around with for a while. Too bad I missed that G4 though...

Man, I missed so many deals on Macs in the selling forums it's not even funny. These things seem to sell in about 5 minutes flat because of all the Mac lovers here.

I did get a decent "introductory" mac though, so I don't feel too bad. Obviously, it will be useless when it comes to newer software, but it will atleast get me familiar with OSX. I'm so fucking tired of running windows though, that even a slow mac is a better option at this point.:mad:

I was looking for upgrades for your G3, and came across these:

Looks cool, but they probably cost a lot more than what you will want to sink into that machine. I guess the best upgrade for the G3 is to just max out the RAM.

My general plan is to max out the RAM at 1gb first and go from there. A new hard drive will probably be a must, as this one still has the stock 6GB.:emb: Other than that, maybe a video card, but there is only so much you can really do with a computer with limited resources like this.

Very true. I bet it'll be fun to mess with though. Hell, I'm already thinking of upgrading the video card on the G4 and I don't even have it yet. :drool:

Last mac I cared about was the Apple 2. I'd much rather build my own rigs and run windows/linux. Windows is by far the leader in gaming (excluding consoles of course)

PC gaming blows. Macs are for people who could care less about the latest FPS.

More to it than just FPS games (RTS games for instance!) in the end you can get a PC that will smoke a mac and most likely at a lower cost. In most benchmarks windows and for that matter PC's dominate. I don't see any nvidia 8 series cards available for macs. They do most things fine and they look great but when it comes to gaming I don't see how you can beat a PC

If I had an interest in PC gaming (or any form of modern gaming--some here may or may not know how jaded I am towards it) I would go with windows without a doubt. Problem is, I'd have to put up with the bullshit that comes with it. I ran XP for 4 years, and recently got rid of it. Best move I've made in a while.;)

Got it yesterday.

Spent all day cleaning it up and it looks lovely (as do my calves in the second pic.)

It would look lovelier in my home getting played, but it arrived with a malfunctioning monitor--still though, it's in really good shape and I'm hoping to get it fixed ASAP.

What did you use for cleaning? One of my Egrets has a nice run of yellowing and I'd like to remove it but hot water and soap wont cut it.

I read that boat hull cleaner works. Anyone remember what brand name they used?

Nail Polish Remover worked great on the tough stains.

A lot of the stuff I couldn't get off with basic cleaning agents I ended up getting off with a bit of the nail polish remover on a rag.

Just be careful with it over areas with uncovered graphical overlays and stickers because it will strip them of their color.

Definitely.

It was actually harder to rotate the bezel than the monitor.:lolz:

Once you take out the bolts, it takes about 2 fingers worth of force to spin the monitor around. It's really a great feature.
