Yo!


So I basically wanted a place to brag about the small fun deals that I got today and ones I'll get in the future, and think some of you guys should get to as well! Today I picked up a copy of Blazing Star from a local arcade distributor that has some MVS carts for sale. I traded my last cart recently for other games but didnt want to be denied that great shooter action this game has to offer.

To my surprise, the cart had a perfect label, a stinking low serial number (my lowest by far!) and came with a marquee! The marquee's a little bent up and will probably take a few weeks to bend back out into shape.

So! What cool things have you guys gotten today or recently?

I got a new watch, it connects to my phone via bluetooth and I can answer calls like Dick-motherfucking-Tracy, as well as control the MP3 player feature.

Sony Ericsson. HBH-MBW 100. It only works with a selection of S-E phones however. I got black over silver. I got the HBH-GV435 bluetooth headset to go with it too.

I scored two more QSound amps for my other candies for $13 each yesterday. That was pretty fly. I also got a weller solder station for $50 a couple of days ago... w00t.

I just scored the vinyl 12" of Shinin' by Mondo Grosso (i.e., the track used in the Lumines skin) for the same as the CD single would've cost ... the vinyl is hell of rarer, too.

I haven't really gotten anything cool recently except my Zune which I've had a couple months. Most of my money has been going towards necessities and to fix my car. I'll post near easter, I might have some cool stuff then.

I just bought a very nice boxed Duo-RX which I am patiently waiting for in the mail.

I just pulled in a US Xmen vs Street Fighter A+B for $30 shipped. The blue board isn't working, but the A works fine. All in all, great for $30 shipped. I need to get a harness and turn my screen and i'll have a nice vampire savior 2 setup.

Also arrived is a nice condition Dreamcast system courtesy of 6-to-the-8-to-the-k.

Blazing star? Awesome choice. Wouldn't mind getting Blazing Star myself, though I would prefer a complete AES version.

Speaking of, I did at least find and buy a Pulstar AES in good+ condition recently for a reasonable price. Yay!

No sir I did not pay full retail.

Prolly coulda got it cheaper online, but I bought from a B&M store so I could bring it back directly if there was a problem and exchange it quickly.

That's a good idea, it can be worth the extra cost for the peace of mind of an easy return. Plus, if you bought it at CC or BestBuy, they do price matching for a certain period of time. (at least they did the last time I checked)

So, how do you like it? I'm looking for a new TV soon and could use all the help I can get.

Considering my the fact that my prior tv was a 32" quasar with only s-video, I am pretty enthralled watching HD tv thru HDMI with 1080 lines of resolution. I Just watched the planet earth special on discovery HD and it was pretty nuts.

I don't have a 360 or a PS3 yet, so the only games that really look GREAT are my xbox 720p games and there are only a few of those. 480p games look good, they almost look better running thru the xrgb2, a testament to the power of the scaler in it.

I'll be getting a PS3 soon, so I look forward to playing VF5 and motorstorm in high def. I would like a 360 however, I think it would be best to hold off until they release the HDMI version.

While you can find great TV's from many manufacturers, Sonys and Samsungs seem to have the most consistant quality. I'm somewhat partial to Sonys but if you have no brand preference, you can save a bit by going with a Samsung equivalent.

A website that has helped me tons is Cnet.com. Its one of the few tech/video game sites that isn't blocked at my work.

Heh, CNET is blocked here :(.

Sony makes great TVs. It's one of the few Sony products I would actually recommend over other manufacturers.

Thanks for the info. I've been looking at a samsung 42" myself. Seems like a great TV for the price. I'd go for the 360, it would be worth the wait for the "black box" as there is little reason to own a PS3 (yet) unless you're looking for bluray.

I think I'll go snoop around Cnet for a while now.:D
