What is wrong with black leaders?
I was looking through last week's newspapers and came across an article about someone in our (Virginia's) Senate/House, whatever the guy's name was Hargrove, who had yet again made a racist comment. Except I was surprised when I found out it wasn't actually racist.
The only thing going on in our Senate that I'm interested in is this bill that's supposed to make the state of Virginia apologize for slavery. So this guy, Hargrove, says "Making us apologize for slavery is like asking the Jews to apologize for crucifying Jesus" or something like that.
Am I crazy, or is that inflammatory? Because to me it makes perfect sense.
Apparently the black guys said they were appalled by his remarks, as were others, including a Jewish member (whom Hargrove later told to 'get thicker skin', or something equally badass).
Hargrove thinks asking for people to apologize for something they've never done or had any part in is ludicrous, and I thought the same thing when I first heard of this bill, whatever it is.
If I had to guess, I bet Tom Joyner said something about this, I would have loved to listen what that guy had to say, probably something along the lines of "Another racist Virginian", pfff.
But I can't believe there are actually black people asking Virginia (essentially asking white people) to apologize for having slavery. Hargrove later said something even racier (no pun intended?), that black people should just 'get over slavery'. And at first I thought that was a bit extreme, but then shit, I realized I agree. It's 140 years later and people who never picked cotton in their life want apologies and reparations. It's ridiculous, their problems are [i]their[i] problems, and asking for apologies won't solve shit.
It's this black mentality I can't stand, stuff like 'vote black, employ black, choose black' is just...dumb as hell.
To answer my question in the title, the problem is is that they see themselves as black, and not as humans like everyone else. I know there are a ton of people who think the same way, but when you get people who separate themselves by color into authority, it's not a good model. Every black leader is a black leader and not just a leader.
As for Hargrove, even though I'm not his constituent, I might mail him a letter. People need to stop being so PC and start talking real, like this guy Hargrove. I'm glad to know a guy like him is in the Senate.
