That is fucking crazy. The guy is 17 and she is 15 and he gets ten years for a blow job. How many people would be in jail if they enforced that type of shit on a regular basis? I mean high schools would have to go without football teams and cheerleaders. (They would all be in jail)

This is ridiculous. I'm somewhat familiar with Georgia's age of consent laws (considering I live here), but it's all very obtuse. Last I checked, the age of consent was still 16 and there was a provision saying that if the "victim" was less than 4 years younger than the person, they could only charged with a misdemeanor. As far as I know, that wouldn't entail registering as a sex offender (effectively ruining someone's life) or any jail time. I wasn't aware of any 12 month maximum sentence for oral sex, though. That seems kind of arbitrary, if limited to oral sex.

I guess that this happened before that law was in effect, so the court's logic was probably that they were bound by the laws that were in effect at the time. Still, this kind of stuff has got to stop. I hope this goes to the GA Supreme Court (or the national Supreme Court) and gets overturned.
