Hell has frozen over: I bought a PS3 today....

I opened up my e-mail to see that I was one of the few chosen by Amazon.com to purchase one of their 60gb PS3s. They had a lottery sign up, and I did it just for shits and giggles. The final odds were 1 out of 44. I really thought I was not going to get chosen as those odds are not too good, but as fate would have it, I did. Anyway, after much contemplation and getting the ok from my gf, I fell into temptation and gave the good people at Amazon 600 bones plus $13 overnight shipping, so I'll have it tomorrow. To the PS3 owners on the thread, any games besides Resistance worth getting?

Given the circumstance, that's not a bad suggestion.

Granted I haven't played a single game for it, much less seen it in action, but I can't fathom dropping that much cash for a console that has no compelling -at least to me- games. In a year, you could expect to have whatever hardware kinks ironed out, as well as a greater supply on the market of hardware. That, and you'll actually have a library of games to sift through at that point.

Unless you're Mr. Neo-Geo McMoney Bags HDTV Jr, I don't see the real point in holding onto a PS3 at the moment.

Then again, there are those who drop twice that amount on single games. Pick your poison, I guess.

I'm still debating on whether or not I should open mine or just off it...

stash it away until spring. Some decent games will be out at the time - VF5, Oblivion, R6 Vegas, Formula One, and possibly golden axe and assassins creed. Summer looks even better.



Selling it between now & christmas will only mean you get your money back, the PS3 selling boat has long gone, Sony will be flooding the market with PS3's very soon. And I wouldn't hold you breath on a price drop anytime soon, Sony's +$200 loss on each system will mean several years before they can do a price drop I would think.

lol. Out of every post, no one addressed my question. Actually I was at JR today looking at PS3 games and couldn't even bring myself down to buy one. I guess I will just use it as a Blu-Ray player for the time being, maybe I'll pick up Resistance or Ridge Racer 7. I really have to say it has one of the shittiest line ups I have ever seen. Ahh I am such a sucker for impulse buying when it comes to video games....

Guess that means I didn't win a Wii since I never got an email.

how many of the recently released fps do you have on the 360? resistance might not be worth getting if you have 3 like myself.

motorstorm is great but i wouldn't recommend the import, better off waiting for the u.s version.

I'll trade someone my AES with 2 pro controllers and a few games in exchange for a Wii.

I bought one on the weekend and it's a lot better than I was expecting hardware wise but software is scarce. Only resistance really sticks out but it's really fun to play online. There are some good games coming that I will wait for but until then it's just for resistance and blu-ray discs which I have really gotten into now.

I downloaded the demo for genji and I can honestly say I wasn't all that impressed. It's a fun game but I could see myself getting bored fairly quickly. I could play that F1 demo forever though. Can't wait for that to come out.

Like the others have said, RR7 and Resistance. I think Resistance is a blast on CO-OP with a buddy. No online CO-OP though. We played through CO-OP on Gears of War and Resistance seems to be just as fun with a friend.

Well I went back to the electronics store today with the intentions of picking up Resistance and RR7. I must have paced back and forth for about 20 minutes deciding what to do. I figured I needed a break from 3d shooters, and since I have spent an enormous amount of money on games this holiday season I went with Ridge Racer and decided to hold off on resistance until later. The unit comes in tomorrow so I will post my own impressions of when I get her set up.

Unless I am mistaken, I believe you can do this as long as you have a valid Japanese address. I am sure you can make one up and just use that.

Genji is solid and pretty challenging. The boat section is pretty awesome too. Some of the level design is weak though.

I think you hit the nail on the head though: it does get kinda repetitive. You have to trawl through hundreds of enemies, and tough ones at that. If you aren't in the mood for that, then this isn't the game for you. Then again, it is a hack 'n slash, so...

BIG is a big RR7 player, and lachlan seems to be on it all the time, so they can give you the lowdown on it. I have only put a few hours into it, but like it.

bubble> Yeah, RR7 is the only demo out in Japan at the moment bar Blast Factor. I see Kazuo just came out for download today.

Not sure why the demos are so few at the moment. Maybe because they are new phenomenon to the JPN market?

I have zero regrets with buying the PS3, I'm loving RR7 and Resistance has gotten my interest in console FPS back.
Looking forward to the US MotoStorm, Formula 1 and especially VF5!

At our Toys R US on Sunday...we had 40 people lined for it, people getting there around 9pm or so. Only 20 Wii systems came in. People are still lining up for it. That's just nuts. I'm lucky I found my Wii system on the third day of release and I wasnt even looking for it. It just happened.

Ohh and at my work we got 20 PS3's in two days ago...I'm not sure which ones...but we sold 17 that day. Yesterday we had three left...well they might be sold by now.

My PS3 comes in today or tomorrow...

I have RR7, but I'm deciding whether I should keep it or not...
