Probably a good thing that popup is gone (mostly).
I did enjoy playing games that threw a miniboss and a boss at you in the same level.
I always hate when the last level of a game is nothing more then a boss rush mode though.
The Megabits and the bit term in general. All I see now is flops, bluray and Cell
I see pop-up in Motorstorm :lolz:
Parallax scrolling (line scrolls, etc)
Godly ;)
Transparencies
cartridge
joy stick (unless someone's talking about a stick, then again these days it's an arcade stick)
game genie
I think that was a generalized term for a cheat device no matter who made it.
Warp zone.
I'd love to see some game with a really serious narrative and setting completely ruined with something like "You have found a warp zone." That'd be awesome.
Sprites.
arcade perfect. ;)
home console version.
FMV
Man, I can't get past that Board!
Jeeze, How many tapes do you have?
Yeah, there is a One_up behind that tree
All the 7 thousand different names people had for Ryu's "Shoryuken".
"All You can" :lolz:
Referring to remaining lives as "guys".
"continues"
Etc.
I miss the concept of minibosses.

super FX!
the secret level :smirk:
LOL we'd get an item that would give us another life we'd say "whoa shit, i just found an extra man"
"Mode 7 Graphics"
Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking of! Remember in the olden days, whenever you'd find a 1-up mushroom or whatever, you would say you got a "free man" or a "free life".Quote:

FuncoLand
Nintendo referred to as the "Evil Empire" in some circles.
Calling all portables a GameBoy (though it still happens with older folks)
Older people calling all video games Pac-Man (and then Super Mario Bros.)
calling framerate drops "lag", used to hear it a lot more.
people pronouncing mario mary-oh
Hahaha, no.Quote:

"CD" quailty sound.
Megabits.
'blip'
*after 45 minutes of loading, my spectrum blipped :( *
Sprite flicker. Glad that technology has (to the best of my knowledge) killed this most annoying of 2D glitches.
The word memory card is going to be falling out of use...
how about super jump. used to be a lot of NES games with 'super jump' codes.
Slowdown.
Although that still exists for shmups, in fact in some cases it's kept in to help.
Sprite scaling/rotation.
"Arcade Perfect."
lens flare, funny why no-one mentions that cutting edge of graphical technos
level skip code
EDIT: Spin got to the second before me :emb:
up,up,down,down,left,right,left,right,B,A,Start
Here's one phrase I haven't heard in a while:
"Please turn disk over"
Or:
"Press play on tape"
    :back: :forw: :back: :forw: :B: :A: STARTQuote:

I still hear pop-up a lot, but that's probably just me bitching to myself about old games that I play.Quote:

And is it either me or did mini-boss just evolve into "sub-boss"?
"Board" is definitely one that you rarely hear now... I always hated that term anyway. I call levels "levels".
paddle
dial-a-combo
AA battery time.
Someone getting happy and proclaiming "I FLIPPED the cartridge!" when making a game's score revert back to all zeros.
Visual Debug Code
Bonus Stage
Suicide Battery (ies)
the acronymn "PSX" for Playstation
"Flower Power!" [proclaimed when Mario got the fireball flower in any game]
Q. SOUND
NAMCOT instead of "NAMCO"
Slamming one's fist on a table and yelling... "That's Video Power!"
arguments over an original title versus a retitle. Example those of us who still refer to the Playstation Castlevania as, Dracula X: Nocturne In The Moonlight rather than Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Calling NES "Nintendo", SNES "Super" and Genesis "Sega". :lolz: Maybe that was just the peeps I hung around with.
Controllers being called remotes. It's still hard for me to call Wii controllers by that name... :lolz:
My grandma had an NES and she called the games tapes. I tried to get people to call games on disc format "LPs"... It never caught on...
