What video game terms haven't you heard of in awhile?

Probably a good thing that popup is gone (mostly).

I did enjoy playing games that threw a miniboss and a boss at you in the same level.

I always hate when the last level of a game is nothing more then a boss rush mode though.

The Megabits and the bit term in general. All I see now is flops, bluray and Cell

I see pop-up in Motorstorm :lolz:

Parallax scrolling (line scrolls, etc)

I think that was a generalized term for a cheat device no matter who made it.

Warp zone.

I'd love to see some game with a really serious narrative and setting completely ruined with something like "You have found a warp zone." That'd be awesome.

Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking of! Remember in the olden days, whenever you'd find a 1-up mushroom or whatever, you would say you got a "free man" or a "free life".

Calling all portables a GameBoy (though it still happens with older folks)
Older people calling all video games Pac-Man (and then Super Mario Bros.)

That's what happened in Japan.

Older folks (parents etc.) used to refer to *any* console as a "Famicom", now they call them "Puresute" (Playstation). And like Bobak says, all handhelds were "Gameboy". Nowadays though, people are starting to call them "DS".

how about super jump. used to be a lot of NES games with 'super jump' codes.

I still hear pop-up a lot, but that's probably just me bitching to myself about old games that I play.

I never really heard flicker before unless you're talking about fake Neo Geo transparencies...

And is it either me or did mini-boss just evolve into "sub-boss"?

"Board" is definitely one that you rarely hear now... I always hated that term anyway. I call levels "levels".

Calling NES "Nintendo", SNES "Super" and Genesis "Sega". :lolz: Maybe that was just the peeps I hung around with.

Controllers being called remotes. It's still hard for me to call Wii controllers by that name... :lolz:

My grandma had an NES and she called the games tapes. I tried to get people to call games on disc format "LPs"... It never caught on...
