Which LCD flat TV should I get because my mom's boyfriend is going to pick up the PS3 at EB Games and we both agreed on selling it to get me a better TV that will make my video games look sharper and he said that he will buy me the PS3 next month for Christmas. :cool:

How much does an Xbox 360 Core system cost because I am going to sell my old Toshiba 52 inch big screen TV to buy 1 Xbox 360 and some games? :cool:

AFAIK, the Samsung supports 1080p over component, so that would be your best bet for your 360.

Yeah my mom's boyfriend is going to Fry's to look at the Samsung 50 inch flat LCD TV and hopefully that it will be on sell after selling off the PS3 and selling my Toshiba 52 inch big screen TV to get an Xbox 360 and maybe 4 games.

From what Ive heard, Samsung produces the panels for themselves and Sony so considering Sony over prices things and Samsung doesn't as much I'd go with the Samsung.

Yeah Samsung has good prices on their flat LCD TV's and Sony does charge way to much for their flat LCD TV's and so I will go for either a 50 inch or 55 inch Samsung flat LCD TV which I will be happy with and enjoy playing all of my video games on it. :cool:

The sonys are rear projection LCD (720p on the first one, not sure on the 2nd but probably also 720p), the samsung is DLP (also rear projection, available in 720p and 1080p, obviously for a higher price on the 1080)...

If youre looking for a RPTV, I'd go with the Sony. It does a MUCH better job at scaling standard definition sources, and has MUCH less lag when playing older video games. (ie, not x360 or ps3)

For flat panel LCDs, i'd look at Sony, Sharp and Mitsubishi.

When deciding between the Sony's, make sure of the resolution for each.

I'm betting that the 50" has the same number of pixles as the 55", meaning that on the larger set the pixels are stretched to fill the screen, resulting in a loss of picture quality.

My brother bought his 42" two years ago and the 50" at the time had the same number of pixels. The 60", however, had more so that one was ok.

Rear pro is ok but the pics seem to be a little soft, even when you run 1080p.
If you do decide to go rear pro the 50 inch sony model in your pic is ok, it uses SXRD
and the pics are nice with HD(not to sure about standerd def signals tho)

As for LCD, if you do decide to go this route there are a couple things that you need to consider, 1. Older games look awful on this type of screen, 2. They are more expensive than other types of screen when they start getting larger.

I had to special order it from a store called john lewis,( upto nine week wait as phillips dont have any in stock:oh_no: ) not cheap mind you but if your budget can stretch that far then go for it, I've checked out every quality screen on the market and this beats them all.

I would stick to CRT for older systems and LCD for next gen...but thats just me.

I'm just surprised you're that confident that you'll be able to pick up not one, but two PS3 systems, before Christmas.

Unless you're planning on getting the second one off eBay, which wouldn't make much sense (might as well just keep the original).

Hell, from some of the rumblings floating about, there's not even a strong guarantee you'll get the first one...

I think that I paid all the member who I owed money. If I still owe some money left hopefully some of the members will PM me. I should be selling my Toshiba 52 inch big screen TV to make some money and if I still owe some members here I will use the money to pay them. :)

I paid Insaneclown the $320 for Aero Fighters 3, Samurai Shodown, Sengoku 3 and Zed Blade which was a couple of months ago. :cool:

Nope I still haven't gotten the $195 from Kpj yet who I sold my Atomiswave mobo to months ago and he is still trying to raise the funds which then the payment will be sent to WGolly. :)

At that size you should NOT get an LCD TV! LCD is shit even at 32" and going above that is just asking for trouble, picture quality wise. The only thing you'll get if you buy an LCD TV is a picture quality that's inferior to what the ol' CRT monster gave you.

Plasma is the way to go, of course, as long as you buy a good one, from Panasonic or Pioneer.

I reckon LCD's look pretty swish man, unless you're overly anal about picture quality. LCD's are a very affordable way for someone to view HD media while still having quite a good picture where as plasma's are very expensive for HD models and to be honest I cant see a difference between a good plasma and a good lcd.

I prefer higher resolution and no burn-in over better black levels and slightly better color accuracy.

You're not actually benefiting from the resolution at all. It's just easier to reason that it looks better because you think it says so on paper. Seriously, do a blind test with an ISF-calibrated display of each type (of course with both being one of the better of each technology), and plasma wins hands down because it actually comes close to reproducing a correct picture. LCD factually CANNOT come close to reproducing a correct picture.

I have no burn-in on mine and I don't intend to have any. It can be avoided unless you insist on being dumb.

There are those who most certainly can see a difference, with me being one of them. You don't have to be anal about picture quality at all to be able to appreciate the fact that LCD sucks, even in comparison to CRT TVs. HD media would look better downscaled on a CRT TV than on an LCD TV :lolz: Instead of buying a POS 32" LCD TV I recommend just sticking to the ol' CRT monster until plasma becomes an option, financially. And they're cheaper per inch anyway, so buying an LCD TV larger than 32" is a picture quality sin.

Trust me, I notice the resolution difference first and foremost, just as other image aspects stand out to you when comparing the two technologies. I would never ever consider a plasma screen for playing videogames. For watching movies, that's a different story; the resolution difference isn't as noticable and burn in isn't nearly as much of an issue. However, all of my displays get used for a good amount of gaming, thus none of them are plasmas.

Trust me when I say that if you sell your PS3 when you get it, you will not be finding another one for the normal retail price before Christmas. Just keep in mind that you will be cruising with your 360 well into next year before a PS3 graces that beautiful new screen of yours.

I decided to keep the PS3 because we are having a hard time getting enough feedback and I need 50 in order to sell it. But I should be happy that I have a big TV to play all my video games on. :cool:

I don't mind saving up $1200 which will take me about a year unless my family decides to pitch in and help me get a new TV and I will pay some money too. Then I can sell my old big screen TV later. ;)

I plan on playing Resistance: Fall of Man and Ridge Racer 7 online with Fakk2. :cool:

My mom's boyfriend just sold the 60gig PS3 on ebay for $2500 and so now I can get a Sony 55 inch LCD Rear Projection Television and a 20gig PS3 since Gamestop will be getting a few 20gig PS3 systems in on Friday. :cool:

Have you considered any 1080p LCD flat panels? A little pricey, but when you're already spending a lot of money it never hurts to check out your options.

Well I just got my Samsung 26" R71 today, I don't know what you're on Kristian but this LCD looks absolutely sweet and kicks the living shit out of my CRT by FAR!
You blow things way out of proportion, Plasma looks great but it's not great enough to say that LCD's are shit.
