I'm really not a fan of the new system launch trend
Why the fuck do system shave to launch now with a premium edition and budget edition? This seems to have started witht he x360 and now it's being done with the PS3. I'm really skeptical of this because reeally - why subject people to the lower budget system - is there a real point to getting the lower end system? Is it really that much more expensive to put another controller and headset in the fucking box? How much do those things cost to make? How much in sweatshop hours? Don't tell me how much these peripherals cost retail, because I already know those prices are bullpoo.
Console makers should release one console, with 2 controllers standard, a pack in game, and maybe a light gun. Man law?
Meanwhile, back in the topic...
I still think Nintendo could have done better with their launch.
If they'd packed-in Zelda (while simultaneously killing the Cube version) and WiiSports for $250, they sell every single unit no problem.
They probably will anyway, but I think that would have been a real powerful dick-in-the-mashed potatoes kind of move.
Thing is, none of the other companies that make systems now are really known for their games, so a pack-in doesn't really make as much sense as it used to with Sega, NEC and Nintendo. Besides, Japanese system launches haven't had pack-ins since the Famicom...so it was really a matter of us just becoming more like them.
