Anybody here have any nice wristwatches?

I'm sporting a 1941 manual wind Tudor "Oyster Commander". 17-jewel Swiss Ebauche movement, Gold filled case, Onyx dial, pigskin strap. Canadian Military issue.

Those thingsare styling.

Did you know the bands are interchangable??? How fucking cool is that.

And the face flips over to reveal a hologram or the LCD watch face.

Its amazing what technology can do nowadays.

I only wear a rolex. Nothing special, but it fits my personality.

I own a lot of game watches. Tetris, SMB, SMB3, Zelda, Starfox, and maybe some others. I haven't looked at them in years.

Honestly though I cant wear wristwatches because they just feel really weird.

Id rather have a cool pocket watch. But I rarly wear a jacket, so its pointless.

I have a Timex Ironman :chimp:

I'm lost without a wristwatch, but all I want is something that'll tell me the time and can take a beating. My last watch, which was also a Timex, went through hell. The battery in that sucker lasted nearly seven years before it finally died. I can understand why someone might shell out large amounts of money for a nice watch. I mean, I've wasted my money on more insignificant shit, but I'll stick with my Timex for now.

I want to get a watch that is entirely mechanical. One of those kinetic motion watches or whatever they call them, not the kind you wind up but the kind that keeps going because of the motion of your hand.

That's called a Rolex. They've been Automatic since the 70's.

Uh, yeah. They do have a crown on them if you'd rather manually wind as well. How do you think you set the time in the first place...

Heh, goes to show how much I know about watches. So we are talking about watches that dont need to be wound and have no batteries right?

Thats the kind of watch I do want because there is just something fascinating about purely mechanical devices.

Yeah, the only problem is that if you don't wear it for a few days it runs out, and you have to set the time again. Not a big problem for me since I have to wind my watch every morning, but you get the picture.

I like watches a lot, but I don't have the money to shell out for an Omega or Rolex or anything fancy like that, so I just wear Guess watches. They look good, they're cheap, and they are going strong. I have one I wear to work, and one I wear on special occasions. Someday i'll get a nice Rolex... someday.

I own a few.

I've got one Bostok I purchased in the late '90s that I still wear everyday.

It's a 31 jewel self winder and not bad looking to boot.

I've got a Moljnia tanker watch, 18 jewel mechanical.

Lately I've been looking at some newer watches but I can't decide if I prefer the Junghans atomic or another mechanical so I haven't bought anything.

I'm really content with the ones I own so I will probably abstain from getting any more.

@Lagduf, the ones you're thinking of are called self-winding. There is an off balance weight attached to the winding stem via a ratchet. When the watch is moved, the weight begins to rotate the stem and thusly winds the watch.

Sometimes they're called kinetic, self-winding, automatic but they all work off the same priniciple.

I've been wearing Timex Ironmans for like 20 years. Damn things last. I hate the buttons though; too hard to press.

I'm in the digital instrumentation business, primarily with LED technology so naturally I <3 LEDs. Binary watch sounds drool worthy.

I'm still waiting for someone to remarket a scientific calculator watch; something that was uncommon even in the peek-geek electronic times of the 80's.

But most of all I want a watch that IS a computer, with Windows-CE, synchs with MS Office, IR or Bluetooth synch, and recharges via induction. Oh, has color LCD display as well.

I mean I love a metal watch that is lightweight and all... but I require a chronograph, timer, alarms, light, everything and anything electronic. Its a crying shame that all Men's magazines like GQ and such feel that digital watches are so wrong. I mean why not.... they are practical, faster and more efficient to read, and all the other microprocessor functionality that comes with said watch is well... free by design.

I destroy them far too fast. Even if they're indestructible, I scuff them and scratch them and they just look sad.

My cell phone became my watch permanently when I got my second startac in 1998.

It's self-winding, auto-date and a bit heavy.

You can buy them from www.russarmy.com.

I had to adjust mine after buying it, but you don't need to understand Cyrillic to do so.

I only wore 4 watches in my entire life.

One was a Swatch - pretty freaking cool, but got scuffed bad during a baseball game..

Another was a calculator watch I got from Radio Shack...

A neat one was a Pac-Man watch that I had in 3rd grade...fun as hell!

My best watch was this organizer watch that linked up to the computer via the monitor - yes, the monitor!

After entering what I wanted to be stored to the watch, and hitting "enter", the screen would flash a sequence of lines and such while the "eye" of the watch had to be placed in front of the monitor...

Pretty cool.

Pretty much i had no idea what they were called. I've been fascinated by these types ever since I learned about them.

I know how they work :emb: but thanks for the refresher ;)

Basically if i had a watch i would wear it everyday. But i havent worn a watch in years.
