Nonetheless, 212 games to start with is pretty damned good. I was thinking they'd only make about 10 titles or so backwards compatible. Keep it up, guys - you can beat Sony's evil ass (lol rooting for M$ :kekeke: ).
I guess the fact that its emu, only means that "other" future consoles may also be able to play old xbox games :emb:
Meh...No Panzer Dragoon Orta, Otogi, Outrunners 2, Shenmue 2, and Dead or Alive Ultimate support so this handicapped backwards compatibility means nothing to me.

If the Xbox 360 was completely backwards compatible then I would've sold my Xbox but since it isn't their is no reason to sell my system then. This freaking sucks!. :( :oh_no:
How can something that utilisez a completely standard interface like DirectX not be backwards compatible with a system of the exact same architecture with the SAME standard interface? I mean, Jesus Pentium Christ! You'd think that if Sony could achieve 99% backwards compatibility between two different CPUs, Microsoft could at least achieve 95% between the SAME CPU!

The problem is that I can't play my xbox 1 games on Live due to the ancient mod that allows me to have my neo collection, and I expected to be able to do so in the 360, mainly SFAC, OutRun 2 and Halo 2, and looks like I will only be able to use 1 of them. I hope they increase the list via downloadable software in the future, specially for SFAC.Quote:

Sony had many of the hardware components of the Playstation in the PS2 so emulation was needed it was all hardware. The pretty much had a Playstation inside the PS2.

Why didn't Mircosoft put in a regular Xbox chip in the Xbox 360 so that it will have 100% backwards compatibility to play all Xbox games on the Xbox 360 console. :D :)

I'm pretty aggravated with the selection also, but the sheer number of titles that are already compatible is pretty impressive, and I think that when it's all said and done they'll have most games running on the 360.
I agree with ya 100% but still the poor choices in what games boggles me. Or maybe this is just by format. Only thing I gotta say is PS2 had pretty much all it's old games ready by day 1.Quote:

There's so many games I need to spend time with as it is, I'm beginning to not worry about even owning one this year. The inevitable drought of games on any new platform is one of the things I can't stand about being an early adopter. I've done it with every generation of hardware since 16-bit, and this time I may pass.
I've been hearing the same thing. On top of how Microsoft can only seem to get certain games to work from the Xbox line and not others is pathetic. The games load the same and run in similar fashion which is why I find it funny they can only seem to get certain games working at the moment. I guess that takes me off the list for a 360 without full compatibility. Not to mention, Microsoft decides to wait until the last possible minute to announce what they will be able to do with Backwards Compatibility.Quote:

The point is, not having 2 systems hooked up to play games. And actually, making an emu software program shouldn't be that difficult if they can create ones for certain games and not another. The Xbox system boots the game the same way. Each game does not boot differently, I don't see why it would be difficult to write a program that could do all.Quote:

Actually, even emulating NES games isn't simple. Nintendo and it's Licensees used many different PCB's for their games, which all have to be emulated individually. I'm sure you've heard the term mappers before. That is why many emu's don't run Castlevania 3 right, it has a mapper which is very hard to emulate properly.Quote:
