OK, so whart types of music is everyone into then? Post the genre then a few examples of bands :)

Well, I'm one of those dudes who likes anything good. I have both hip-hop and country on my iPod shuffle... at the same time!

I pretty much only listen to old school and underground hip-hop, though. Like Sugarhill Gang and J-Live. Though I'll sneak some k-os and Outkast in there.

And the country is more like a country punk thing, but full on with slide guitars and everything. If you're wondering, it's Frank Black. This guy is awesome. can't get enough.

I also like crazy electronica too. Aphex Twin, Squarepusher. Rad!

Lately, I want to get into jazz and blues some more. And maybe funk and motown. I lack these things too much.

I agree, MIA is more dancehall-ish than anything else, that's a weird one... I was mainly playing off the Streets :D and yeah, I should be sleeping, so I'm sorta tired and lazy, but check out Rascal sometime, good stuff... especially Boy in da Corner.

I like Punk, but not this bullshit new MTV stuff that claims to be punk. No Blink-182, Sum41 shit. God I fucking hate that stuff. I've grown a bit tired of the triend and tested punk bands though (Bad Religion, NOFX, Misfits, etc.). Check out Hot Snakes. They are fucking amazing. Also not in my opinion as good, but very decent are Drive Like Jehu, Antelope, The Sultans, The MonOrchid.

Do yourself a favor and pick up Hot Snakes' Automatic Midnight. Listen to it twice before you make a judgement. I know you will enjoy it.

Bailefunk/Reggaeton. the guy who produced the album was inspired by a new craze in Brazilian music called Bailefunk. Made a mixtape of that music, then produced MIA's album, but released a second mixtape called Piracy Funds Terrorism where it has songs from Arular (alternate versions) mixed in with more bailefunk songs.

Wow, a lot of country haters. I used to be one myself, but my girlfriend always listens to it in her car, so it's actually grown on me. Barring the whiny shit "tear in my beer" type songs, there's a lot of good country songs out there.

EDIT: Personally I grew up on west coast rap. Still love the old shit from '92 to '96.

I think all of their albums are great, you should get them all. My favorite is Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables.

To be serious, think I prefer Pop and Rock music.
But I like Rap, Hip Hop, Classic, 60s-70s-80s and Reggae (only Bob Marley for this one) too.

I listen to everything but country and classical. It's mostly derivatives of metal though.

Right now I'm listening to the latest Disturbed album "Ten Thousand Fists"

- I think I've had enough of Nu Metal. This album didn't really contribute anything new - It's all the same "You did this to me, and made me feel like this.... I'm taking my like back/I'm broken in 2" and so on.

Their previous album "Confession" was softer and the latin rhythm of the guitars made them unique. I hate it when bands try new things to become popular.

skillz, little brother, scaramanga, insight, aceyalone, consequence, oc., scienz of life, time machine, demigodz, zion i, etc.

i really like stuff with soul or jazz samples.

5% stuff i used to be into 10+ years ago:
stone roses+other brit rock, 311, house music, happy hardcore, aztec camera, ride, pop will eat itself, etc.

I'm only into Electronic Ant Farm music. If you haven't heard of it it's probably because you're not cool enough, and that wouldn't surprise me.

METAL/Rock: Racer X, Judas Priest, Old metallica, Anything Megadeth, Yngwie, Michael Angel Batio, Nitro, Iced Earth, Blind Guardian, Iron Maiden, ManOwar, Paul Gilbert, Danzig, Joe Satriani, Theodore Ziras, Rusty Cooley.

Some brit groups I like: Oasis, Stone roses.

Punk: The Cure, Misfits, SAMHAIN, New York Dolls (fucking king), Ramones, Bauhaus. Industrial elements are in SAMHAIN and Bauhaus, its hard to define these two bands.

Hip Hop:
Necro, Ill Bill, Q-Unique. I think like Ill Bill the best of these three because I've listened to his album alot lately and its really a killer album.


I hate this thread because I could spit my interests all day.
