There is a poll concerning gay mairrage November 8th, 2005. Vote yes on proposition two! What this will do is not allow gay mairrage in our country (or state for those wanting to be policically correct). Can you dig it? I won't go into too much detail because I just got through typing a novel in my live journal and I'm tired but the deal is that I do not want the homosexuals to get married becase why bother? Morally what they do is wrong and quite frankly, I could care less what they do but I don't want what they do to be made public. What's your take on it?

Yep "Not on my watch" either. Marriage is the union between a man and a woman PERIOD. As it stands now two butt cowboys can spelunk on one another all they want, and it's not really bothering anybody anyhow. They only want to get "recognized" to be married for the tax break more than anything else IMO. I'm sure in a day and age where most ppl are skeptical and cynical about getting married (between a man and a woman) anyhow, it sure isn't because two ass spelunkers or carpet munchers have found Pure Love that neccessitates a union of "till death do us part" marriage vows that will transcend that gay relationship to the absolution of universal harmony. :rolleyes:

this is the only instance i've heard of any controls on the marriage of two people.
life is hard, and the advantages offered by marriage like shared health benefits
and tax breaks are there, but i don't think this is the real issue, and is

i don't think this is something we should deny a couple just because

To many involved it has nothing to do with a "Tax Break."

Most homosexuals demand the right to marry - they often refuse a different union that would grant them rights completely equal to those that come with marriage. They kick and scream about taxes and how it's a civil affair... but so many of them reject the notion of a Civil Union.

They compare it to the Civil Rights movement... they want to use the "Heterosexual" water fountain as they put it. It's an absurd and insulting comparison.

Moral and religious objections aside - marriage is the union between a man and a woman. Homosexuals aren't applicable for marriage in the same way I'm not able to join my local Polish club (not that I'd want to... if a light bulb broke during their meeting I'm sure the rest of the time would be spent trying to figure out how to screw another one in)... I simply don't meet the criteria.

If they want to cement their union I have nothing against it - and I think it would be just to give them the rights afforded to those who marry to cement their unions. I think it's unconstitutional to punish an individual based on sexual orientation.... and I think denying them the rights that married couples are privy to is just that.

But in the end I guess my gripe with it is trivial... mostly about semantics. I see the movement as another step in the direction of completely homogenizing the culture. Homosexuals aren't heterosexuals... the two unions should reflect the differences within rather than trying to disguise them. It's funny that for so long their battle cry involved diversity... but now instead of trying to legislate a bond that recognizes the unique nature of their relationships (one with rights equal to those of marriage) they want the one identical to that of heterosexuals (in name only... not in nature... which is what blows my mind. Marriage describes the unique union of a man and a woman - it is, in nature, much different than the union of homosexuals.) Do they consider diversity and equality to be mutually exclusive now? "There's no such thing as the human "species" - there is only the human race!!!!!" Give me a break. I don't see why it isn't possible to recognize the difference without the discrimination they claim would result - especially considering said discrimination would be illegal.

I'm glad this isn't federally legislated (as of now) and has thus far been left to the sovereignty of the states. If the majority of Texans endorse it I hope it passes, if the majority oppose it I hope it fails. Either way I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

I'm far from paranoid, heck I wasn't even thinking about any of this to be honest. It's not like I care much anyhow. From what I understand the wording of this bill would not only prevent homosexuals from getting married, but it would also prevent them from entering any union that resembles marriage, such as a civil union.

For that reason alone the bill should be struck down. No doubt it will pass though.

Dinkins is the voice of reason in this thread people. I really think the gay community needs to push forward for Civil Unions if they are ever going to get any kind of arrangement similar to marriage.

As for the topic I think its obvious that the #1 thing on most Americans minds is preventing gays from getting married. Which I don't think they should get married. Here's my thought on that. It may not seem that way now but later on there will be another chink in the chain in life and it'll be more messed up than what it already is. Think about this for a second, when capital punishment was taken out of the school (ass wuppens for examples), you see kids acting like punks and thuggish niggas today. We go through this thought process that beating our kids is considered abuse and we'll get arrested for doing so (God, I sound old) but if parents do nothing about their kids then what you see now with the school shootings and all is what you get. That's step one. Step two I cannot explain at the moment...

Now then, for the record, I do not care if two men or women love each other, I'm cool with that. But I don't want to be forced to thinking that it's okay because, well, I do not feel that way! If people of the same sex want to get married, then I'm all for it... in another state. I'm not telling people who they should fall in love with but it's the fact that the world is telling everyone it's okay to be gay. I'm sure everyone knows that but I don't want to be forced to accept that. I'm still voting yes on prop. two and I'll leave it at that. I'm just stating an opnion and that's that.
