Favorite system of the 3 current ones?

I personally prefer X-Box the most out of the 3. Reasons being first with sports games it is much more convienent to have the X-Box HD to save the games as opposed to having to have multiple PS2 memory cards due to the large data files that these require.

Then add in the fact that I would rather have the boost in graphics that comes with most multiplatform releases. The other day I picked up the GTA Trilogy pack for the X-Box even though I already own all 3 games for the PS2. While the graphics are not a drastic improvement over the PS2 version, I find they are enough that makes it a bit easier to look at the game. It has a slight drop more polish to them and the graphical effects look better. The only time I did not purchase a multiplatform game for the X-Box was Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 because the reviews said that the PS2 version offered the best sense of speed.

Third, the 2D game support. While none of the current consoles have a ton of 2D games on it, X-Box is much more adequate at 2D performance than the PS2 is.

The support from Sega, namely Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shenmue 2 are aces for me as well.

X-Box Live would be a factor if I used it.

But this post is not meant to be a rip on the PS2 or Gamecube because I enjoy both systems as well. I just prefer the X-Box for various reasons to the other two.

why?

probably because it has the biggest variety of games and it has a nice selection when you talk about retro games, shooters, and fighters (well, most of them will hit the PS2 first)

of course this is mainly due to the import Japan games as SCEA sucks big ones

XBox... I play it the most (especially considering its online support) and it's every retro console in one box (with all the roms and what not.)

I'm bored with my PS2 and Xbox now (Sold the Panasonic Q almost a year ago).

Bring on the X360, I'm looking forward to Ridge Racer 6, Quake 4 and Perfect Dark Zero in about a months time.

I've had a good run with the last generation, but the time is right to move on. Only games that interest me now are Black and Zelda (cubes are cheap as crap so I'll get another one just for this).

Btw, am I alone in thinking the Xbox looks the BEST out of current gen consoles? The PS2 looks like two ill fitting hifi units stuck together and the cube (purple) looks like a gay mans handbag. (Hence why I got the Q)

Xbox live pretty much overtook my decision. had it not been for Live i woulda picked one of the other 2.

I have never had so much fun online in my life. Nintendo is my favorite company but thats changing rapidly cuz they just aren't delivering.

Monkey Ball, Mario Kart, Viewtiful Joe, F-zero, Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 4, Mario Sunshine etc. + I'm a huge Nintendo fanboy.

I like PS2 and Xbox too though.

Live is awesome, and a lot of games I love are on XBox, but I couldn't live w/o my RPG's that are only on PS2.

it's a shame some people miss out because they associate the PS2 with GTA and other mainstream games

there are plenty of hidden gems from small developers in there that people are missing out on

About the GTA games, I think the jump in graphics from the PS2 to the Xbox is pretty significant actually. The polygon counts are higher and the resolution is greater. The draw distance is greater, if I remember right. The car models also shine in the sun (a reflection on the windshield) on the Xbox version of Vice City. It just looks more polished on the Xbox.

Having said that though, the PS2 is my favorite system. It gets the majority of the game releases, and almost all the RPG's that come out are PS2 only.

Yeah me too, and it's an XBox - when I want to play something like a PS2 I go grab it and hook it up.

If you can't handle the fact that the XBox is a black box I don't know what to tell you.

Yeah.

Without my PS2, I'd never be able to play cool stuff like DoDonPachi DaiOuJou, ESPGaluda, R-Type Final, KoF NW, Raiden III, Mushihime-sama, Dragon Blaze, the Vampire games and many more.

I don't care for most of the mediocre 3D games the PS2 is (in)famous for, like GTA, etc., I like the PS2 because it lets me play all the cool arcade games that I otherwise would never see let alone play... but there are some good 3D games as well, Katamari Damacy, Ico, Shinobi to name but a few.

Basically, I prefer most of the Cube 3D games (namely RE4) over 99.9% of the PS2 current-gen stuff, but in terms of imports/arcade ports, nothing beats PS2.

Xbox got some cool arcade ports too and they're very good and all, but I miss the shmups.

Bottom line... many ppl hate the PS2 simply because Sony made it, or Kutaragi, or because it was released on a monday, or because it's black... dunno man, guess i'm through with the ol' system wars bullshit since the days of SNES vs MD.

PS2 largest # of good exclusive games, Japanese created games, and RPGs, has the same number of cross platform games as xbox. Also has an MMO (FFXI) that is playable on dial up.

Xbox would be great if it had more Japanese games and more than just fighters and FPS for online games (And dial-up support)

Well, it would be a bit of a problem with most fighters and FPS games but you still could download add-ons and upload hiscores.

Playstation 2, for variety's sake. I probably have twice as many PS2 games as Xbox and Gamecube combined, and that's not even including all the import PS2 games that don't make it to the States.

Xbox certainly has the best online play by far though, that's one thing Microsoft did exactly right.
