This Halloween, what movies will you be watching?

I was just wondering what horror films everyone will be watching/renting this weekend. Any good recommendations, or ones that suck and should be avoided?

Personally, I like the classics. Can't beat the first couple of Friday the 13th movies. My weekend and Halloween night will be filled with B-movies, slashers, and independent horror films.:buttrock:

I bought Ringu 2 and Ringu 0 several weeks ago, but never got around to watching them... this weekend seems as good a weekend as any, since I decided to skip the Eastern State Penitentiary this year... maybe next year.

Another horror film I am really partial to is 28 days later. Call me crazy but the psycho British take on a zombie film is one of my favorites.

Watched Blair Witch Project last saturday, and will follow up with its sub par sequel. I haven't seen it yet, and got the entire Blair Witch Experience package for 8 bucks at Gamestop so its ok.

As for gaming, playing Clive Barker's Undying, Splatterhouse 3, and HL2.

I watched a documentry about Eastern State on The Suffering's extras. Pretty creepy...

I will be playing Ghoul Patrol and Zombies Ate My Neighbor's on my SNES on Halloween and then watch Land of the Dead again before I return it back to NetFlix through the mail. :D :cool:

Watched Return of the living dead last night and today it'll be some Friday the 13th action, maybe some Evil Dead/Army of Darkness, Land of the Dead and capped off with Nosferatu.

You're wrong on so many levels, AOD is the worst in the Evil Dead trilogy. I'm not shunning the movie completely, but it isn't even a horror film. It's a fantasy/comedy that both Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi have stated many times.

Seeings this is a thread on Horror films and Halloween, I suggest we stay on topic.

I have been tempted many times to buy the Friday the 13th box set. It's a lot of money though.

Anyway, I'll probably also watch Zombie, maybe Return of the Living Dead, The Beyond/7 Doors of Death, and I have Session 9 borrowed.

Just got on a screener of "The devils rejects" seams not to diffrent from the last Rob zombie film, house of a 1000 corpses :annoyed:

We'll probably start the evening with Braindead for a bit of splatter comedy fun, then throw in Hellraiser II (the best of them all IMO) and continue the show with In the Mouth of Madness or Exorcist 3.

Nice.. I agree that Hellraiser II is the best of the lot. And In the Mouth of Madness is easily my favourite Carpenter film. Enjoy..

In The Mouth Of Madness indeed is a Carpenter masterpiece, Sam Neill also plays very good in it, very intense.

My fave Carpenter movie... ugh... tough question. I love his early movies, Attack on Precinct 13, The Fog, Dark Star and of course Halloween... then there's Christine, Big Trouble In Little China... every Carpenter movie is a classic of its own it seems, it's hard to pick just one, but if I had to name my top 3, it would be The Fog, In the Mouth and Dark Star... I have a soft spot for b-movie/budget productions like The Fog or Dark Star. Original production cost of Fog was less than a million dollars and look what Carpenter made out of it.... there's not a single contemporary director/screen writer who could do that IMO.

Without Carpenter, I doubt we'd have seen Mortal Kombat. The obvious influence that Big Trouble in Little China had on Midway is astounding!

I'd have to give credit to The Thing as being a film that killed it on a small budget. Assualt on Precinct 13 is another fav, much better than the remake. I also have a soft spot for Vampires, being a big James Woods fan. I'm keen to see what Carpenter'll be doing next.

Not really a straight-up horror flick, but I would recommend Saw II to anyone who likes that kind of thing and has a strong stomach.

Saw it on Saturday afternoon, and it was pretty entertaining in much of that same "Jesus Christ this is fucking sick but oddly compelling" kind of way as the first one. Some of the more creative deaths I've ever seen in a movie, and a better ending this time than in the first one. Tobin Bell was pretty good as Jigsaw, and Donnie Wahlberg, um, was in New Kids on the Block.

Definitely worth watching for Halloween.

Ditto....been watching one every other night for the last week. Was hoping to get Bird with Crystal Plumage in time for tonight...but nobody seems to have it :(

It's hard to find but prior releases to this one are inferior. Pre-order here. You also should grab a copy of the LE Cannibal Holocaust while it's still available.

Heh, Cannibal Holocaust. Maybe I'm just desensitized to it, but I remember being dissapointed by that movie. Every review I'd ever read of it made it out to be the most disgusting, degrading film ever made. It had its moments, but nothing to horrible.

I heard the scenes where they kill animals aren't actually real, is that true? I remember that being one of the things people always mentioned when talking about the movie.

I'm still waiting for 5. I liked them all, Phantasm 4 was pretty good, it just had a REALLY low budget, less than any of the others, the entire fucking production was around 400k, and most of that was the locations and equipment, I think of it as the artsy phantasm, great locations and camera work, but the story didn't do as much as the others.

2 is still my fav, followed by 1, then 3 then 4.
