I want to tell you that we are making now the street fighter 4 - it will be SFIV - Battle for the past
and i know a lot about the project because i worked in it

Well, the game has 24 characters, some newfaces and some character returns
The game is been programmed to run on a atomiswave(sammy's) and its high resolution graphics

I taked a photo with my mobile phone of a beta screen and i want to show you it, i atached it to this mail

Right now I'm getting confirmation regarding if this guy really works at Capcom
And, for some odd reason, the PIC was NOT attached
However I'm talking to the guy, and getting him to resend the pic

I've noticed that the news of SF4 has spread across the internet
I'd just like to point out that I AM NOT GOING TO MAKE IT SOUND OFFICIAL until I get confirmation

The email address ended with yahoo.co.jp . . . so it is from Japan
However, that wouldnt stop someone from Japan making this a hoax
I also ran TRACERT with the email address and I got the following message

Unable to resolve target system name, so think whatever you like

I URGE everyone to take the email as nothing right now, because killing hopes would suck
If it truly is legit, I'll let you know ASAP
If its not, I'll still let you know ASAP

Only thing Street Fighter related that I am looking forward to.

I'm hoping it isn't bullshit. Capcom really needs to put out another 2-d fighting game to make up for Fighting Evolution. Street Fighter IV, if done right, might be a super-kick-ass game, that could possibly even help gain more interest in 2-d gaming.

But I have high hopes....

I thought a SF game set in the past would be a good idea. Hopefully it winds up being true at some point.

I'm a bigger SF geek than most, and even I have no idea who Gouken, Goutetsu, or Go Hibiki are. Someone care to fill me in? Shen Long would be cool, however. ;)

There was a news about it on Shoryuken yesterday. Today it's gone. The guys behind Shoryuken removed it and are basically acting like nothing happened, it seems.

Gouken = Ryu and Ken's master, as well as Gouki (Akuma)'s bro (killed by the latter)
Goutetsu = Gouken and Gouki's master (killed by the latter)
Go Hibiki = Dan's father (killed by Sagat)

As you can see in the first post of this thread, the rumor started with someone from Capcom who supposedly contacted some webmaster to let him know about SF4... So if that was true, and that your coverup theory was true as well, that'd mean that guy at Capcom isn't really smart. Unlessss Capcom is smarter than we'd think, and decided to start the rumor themselves like that, then made it disappear it to build the hype before they announce it. o_o

Even though it is a hoax, I have to say the idea of a High Res 2-D SF game would be awesome indeed but I hope when the day comes maybe that subtitle actually gets used. I dunno, something about the title Street Fighter 4: Battle for the Past just sounds kick ass to me. Then again I loved the name "War Against Destiny" for 19XX by Capcom too.

Make the game some huge contrived story where every character to ever appear in an SF game (including the EX games) shows up with a new roster of like 16 characters and it's literally a battle for the claim to be #1 with the same fever as SFII was in it's hey day.

Sounds good, but as 3s displayed, it dont have to have a huuuge mountain of characters to make a good game :)

My brother's dentist's cousin once heard there might be another Street Fighter game coming to the Sega Genesis in 2006. Also, I heard about it on the Internet, so it must be true.

Battle for the Past sounds kick ass...what intrigues me even more is that since this could be before Alpha, Ryu and the rest of the Shotokan kids would not be the main star :) They'd definitely be weaker, being Shoto n00bs and all.

The story could be excellent stuff, seeing the death of some Go-guys by Akuma.

Don't know whether to say "too bad it's a rumor only", because who knows; maybe the official SF4 is even more kick ass.

For the guy that mentioned a Fatal Fury with Jeff Bogard...man, I've never even thought of that. That would have an amazing set-up as well, delving into the hatred between Jeff and Geese would be nice to see.

The sudden rise of Street Fighter IV rumors/hints in the past few months makes me want to believe that something might indeed be in the works, but I try real hard not to get my hopes up. :(

I'd rather have it be a continuation of SF3 rather than have the game set in the past though. It seems like a step back to me and I'd rather see Ken's son over Gouken and whatnot.

Ken's son is a panzy.

I'd like to see a game set around the storyline of Gouki murderkilling everyone.

That pic has photo shop written all over it. Why is Guile so clear, but the bg so f'd up? Fake, but interesting.

I disagree, I think it looks hi-res(guily gear hi-res), You can kinda see the same shading style on Guile as you do in GG.

You can't tell from a single bad picture like that. Plus, if it does exist, it's probably far from being finished.
But to answer your question, why would it look worse than SF3... Because Capcom doesn't have the required 2D artists anymore, or maybe because the SF licence is now supposed to be in the hand of Capcom USA. Who knows...

If that was anything close to real somebody needs to be fired.

I could have sworn I read an interview with the creative behind SF2/3 talking about the possibility of a SF4 where he was saying that if it was ever done he would really like to do the game in a anime looking style... This was years go that I read this though.

I'm hoping this is all true, but I'm leaning heavily towards a scam here. :oh_no:

1- No one said they hoped it would be cel-shaded... That'd imply the game would be 3D, and most people want it 2D I guess. The SF Ex series is there for 3D stuff.
2- Sprites = 2D. Cell-shaded characters = 3D. So no, that can't work.

A cel-shaded Street Fighter would be fucking terrible. There's a huge difference in the movement of 3d characters to 2d characters, cel-shaded or not. I already think this is fake as it is, but if it did go in that sort of direction I'll stick with Super Turbo, Alpha 2, and Second Impact.
