hard drive not standard in every 360 is hellagay!

its so stupid of M$ to have two ver of 360 one with a hard drive one with out.
they should know by now if every 360 does not have a hard drive in it the 360s with hds will get little to no support from developers.
if any thing they should pack a smaller hard drive in the economy models.
it really seems to be a conflict on interest for their xbox live model.
all of the features on it seem to really benefit form having a hard drive
downloadable maps, patches, user account profiles, user made maps, xbox live arcade games ect.
if it is not in every 360 they should just get rid of it all together.

i hope m$ changes their mind about this lame as option.

I was all about the 360 until they announced two seperate but equal system. Do you know that the premium bundle is more than I paid for my entire 2slot console, SS4, and KOF 94-00? Fuck that.

The GC didn't have one... The load times were kinda slow if not optimized, but it wasn't that bad. Personally I like solid state better anyway. If MS would just give us 20gb worth of ram modules for storage I'd be happier.

One reason Revolution won't do HD is thanks to the fact that it's only going to play DVDs. No HD video content, unlike the supposed 360 w/ HD-DVD support or the PS3 with Blu-Ray.

There's also the fact that developing HD games may cost a company more. The big silly N has decided to try and keep developer costs down on the Revo. We shall see. (yeah, keep developer costs down, but find some other way to milk someone else along the way)

That is still pretty stupid, considering both the other systems have support (well, I assume the PS3 is, but I know how Sony loves dropping features 2 days before a launch) for HD.

Oh well, it's really just about the games.

How about a 5- 4 GB USB keys/USB drives/whatever you want to call them? Or just have one 2 GB and allow you to swap them in and out at will, so if you have a game you play a lot, you can have USB storage devoted to it?

Which then tells you MS would design it's own format to milk the consumer ($100 for a 20 GB HDD? I can get an 80 GB for less than that shipped. I'm pretty sure that USB 2.0 is faster at reading than a 5400rpm laptop drive, but you know MS is going to cut corners and give you a POS 4800rpm drive instead. Maybe those usb ports will be usefull after all...

high def content at 720P is not asking for much. it should not add any cost. every pc game made to date can far surpassed that. programmers work with higher def textures and dummy them down for respected format.
most of the benefits of higher definition is free based on how good the hardware is.

I doubt it. The Xbox was a PC. The Xbox360 is not.

It would cost like $800 if they just threw in flash memory. Solid state storage devices are still outrageously expensive. However, a certain HD manufacturer has invented a nice solid state harddrive that does use flash memory, very fast too. But it won't be out until next year at the soonest. Probably more like 2007.

It's hard when the Games division wants to do it one way, but the other people are telling them they have to do it this way because they loss so much damn money on the first Xbox. Yeah I belive that's Samsung...

Solid storage isn't that expensive especially in raw chip form. You can now buy a 3-4gb usb drive for around $80. Just 1.5yrs ago this was in the $700 range. They could do it, but why give the customer what they want? MS has yet to do that, as far as I'm concerned, with the xbox.

Personally, I don't give a shit about ROMZ on the 360, that's what I have the regular xbox for, it can run all classic systems OK. What other systems could the 360 run that the xbox didn't? I don't need the disc-based consoles like DC.

I don't see what you're finding funny... None of those were multicore. The upcoming ps2 game from Sega looks better than most 360 titles. The cube was right up there with RE4 (even though it didn't have a widescreen option). No there wasn't ever an across the board benchmark available but once the systems were optimized there wasn't much difference.

what sega made ps2 games looked better than any xbox sega made game?
none that i know of?...outrun2, house of the dead 3, panzer dragoon orta look better than 90% of ps2 games.
ps2 is dated. lets see it run doom3, far cry, not that they cant make good fun games for ps2. just they have to work around the limits of the ps2 hardware.

Halo 3. They'd instantly sell more of the expensive package and more hard drives to those too retarded to buy the more expensive package when they bought the system.

The only people who wouldn't buy Halo 3 are people like me who aren't into console FPS, but I don't plan on buying a 360 anyway, so that's not a problem either.

I'm not getting involved in this pissing contest, but I think this needs to be put out there.

I played through Halo 2 single player and I've played a ton of the multiplayer.

There is no crippling slowdown. There is slowdown at points in the single player, but nothing really bad or crippling like you've said.

There's really not all that much slowdown in Halo 2 (a spot here and there, virtually nonexistent,) it certainly doesn't cripple the experience.

Occasionally it can get annoyingly laggy in Live when someone has a piss poor connection, but for the most part that isn't an issue either.

What Halo 2 was able to squeeze out of the dated XBox hardware is pretty damn impressive (visually speaking.)
