What Classic "Devoted" Arcade Uprights would you most want to own?

Just out of curiousity, what are the arcade cabs (playing just that one game) that you would love to own? Let's say hypothetically speaking you only had room for 5 of them next to whatever Neo Candy Cabs or BIG REDs you have? For me I'd have to say I'd want to have the following...

#01> L.S.A. SQUAD
#02> Rastan Saga
#03> SHINOBI
#04> IKARI III: The Rescue
#05> Operation Thunderbolt

Currently while in my own travels with the wife around Texas I'm shopping around pizzarias, bowling alleys, flea markets, arcades in ruin and anywhere to find those games with a bonus being Super Contra or Devastators. Currently I have enough room to have a mini arcade of around 8 normal sized uprights, but so far I just have my BIG RED 2-Slot. I thought about doing the EBAY thing but the S&H for most things usually kills a bloke. I realize a good deal of ppl who have NEO:GEO Cabs probably ordered them through places like Arcade Infinity and paid a lot for S&H, but I myself got spoiled after snagging mine for $600 w. AOF 2 and Neo Turf Masters. Now I've got that old school arcade bug and want to find something regional that I can pick up. So what (IF ANY) are your own Top 5 Uprights you'd love to have?

Maybe a Simpsons big style 4 player or the humungous six player X-Men cabinet.

Spy Hunter too maybe.

P.O.W., Outrun, Afterburner II, and Operation Wolf.

Out of those selections, I'd most want to own P.O.W. As a kid, that game just destoyed my allowance on a weekly basis.

I own a Operation Thunderbolt that I keep at my father's house.

It's not that impressive, it's downright boring, actually. It sucks after the first playthrough.

My list in no particular order:

Gauntlet (I've wanted one since I was a kid)

The Grid

Afterburner in the 360 degree cockpit.. how fuckign cool would that be? "Honey, I'm going to go downstairs and fly for a few hours"

Dayona USA full motion cockpit. Same as above.

VR Cab I always like these.. like the 3d pacman or even more the Deathmatch ones. I love these.

Battlezone Upright

...and a ton of more.. but those are the immediate ones.

Galaga / Pac-Man / Ms. Pac-Man - got it in the anniv combo

Donkey Kong / Donkey Kong Jr. - going to get this combo soon

#1> I never get tired of playing either "Operation Wolf" or "Operation Thunderbolt" or even STEEL GUNNER (#1). Those games to me are better than the Virtua Cop stuff that came out later.

#2> What condition is your OT cab in? Does the twin MAC-10s work properly and still clack and recoil? What's the screen resolution like still? And most importantly... if you hate it so much, would you be willing to sell it? I might even storm ride up to you and pick the thing up if it came down to it.

Yeah, but I had to replace them with NOS ones. They work great now.

The screen looks spectacular, it's in *mint* condition. I picked it up at an auction alogn with a Street FIghter pinball that I also keep at my father's house. You just need to keep the mirror nice and it'll look great.

Nah, I'm not going to sell it because my dad loves it and he keeps it there for me because my nephews love it so much when they come up to visit. My one nephew double guns when he comes up. He stands on a stool and has a blast. Pretty funny to watch.

It lost its charm within a few days and I was considering MAME'n it for a MAME gun game, but it's such a nice piece I couldn't bring myself to doing it.

IF you go to arcade auctions you can get a decent one for about 2-300 bucks.

The final boss is infuriating with that STUPID one life-hostage thing. Nothing makes me claw my hair out more.

this is not a upright, but i'd love to have an arkanoid cocktail table.

me and my friends spent so much money on the one at the pizza shop at school. we'd spend hours there playing arkanoid and shooting the shit.

Those cabs are great looking and the games are the best arcade games of the era by far if you ask me. ;) After that would love to Pac Man/Ms. Pac Man, Centipede, Tempest. Could never justify the expense of all those cabs though, not to mention the space they would take up.

Those multi-Williams cabs are pretty cool, but not as cool as the original cabs and could probably be better done on your own, still cool.

I think I'm the only guy on this forum that does have one dedicated cab, Super Dodge Ball. Used up all my birthday money and monies I'd saved up over months, but I bought one back in 2000 for $225. Haven't regretted it since, has the marquee, the little sticker saying the directions on the screen, the poster on the side of the cab, everything. Pretty cool conversation piece at parties.

it's sooo hard to narrow it down to 5.

1. Land Sea Air Squad (gotta second GK on this)
2. Time Soldiers (yummm rotary joysticks)
3. Night Striker (sit-down for added awesomeness, but I'm still cool with an upright)
4. Robotron 2084 (one of the only "Golden Age" games that I still love)
5. Psychic 5 (an absolutely brilliant underrated game)

Honorable mentions to Street Fighter II (the original... Handcuffs and Magic Throw forever!), Black Tiger, Rygar, Willow, The Ninjawarriors (3 screens baby!), Xybots, Strikers 1945 III, Raiden Fighters, Total Carnage, Crime City, Spy Hunter, Satan's Hollow, Robocop, Mad Planets, etc etc... after I post this I'll probably think of about 10 other games I forgot.

There was a "family amusement center" that opened up around here a couple years ago, and for some reason they had a Starblade there. I completely forgot just how FUCKING AWESOME those cabinets are. A game like that can only be experienced in the arcade cabinet, the home versions are so boring without the "projection" monitor, the surround sound, and the flashing lights. Lots of great choices out there. I've been extremely lucky with collecting games (free Tron and Crystal Castles machines that work are my most recent deals) so far. There's stuff out there to be found guys. It never hurts to ask what's for sale when you see a cab. :buttrock:

Space Harrier- My movie theater used to have this back in the day, my father fed by brother quarters till he beat it. Took $8.

Double Dragon- This game is just amazing. The atmosphere and hard core design is soooo good. An arcade near my house just put one of these in their cab. Beautfiul game.

Street Fighter II turbo- You would never get tired of this.

Neo 4 slot- Mutation Nation, Kof 95, Fatal Fury Special, Samurai Shodown 1

Black Tiger - This game is so hard core. You can't fuck with it.

They used to have it at the Godfathers Pizza by my house. The arcade stick had buttons on either side for left hand play. When my brother played I'd sneak up and hit the left hand buttons causing him to fall to his death.

Then he would hit me :envy: :emb:
