Question about DBZ movies

When I was in New York 5 years ago, I bought some bootleg VHS tapes from the DBZ movies.

I think there were 13 movies?

Anyway, I'm looking for one of the last released, Goku and Vegeta do a fusion here, but it fails in the first place, making them a fatso. They fight against some red creature I think.

Does anyone know which movie this was? And is it on DVD?

That's movie 12. Dunno if it was released over here on DVD or not.

Speaking of the movies I watched a interview on gamespot.com with one of the people working on the latest DBZ game...he said that "Movie 12 was the last DBZ movie ever made" or something like that. I laughed and found him to be an idiot.

PS:Movie 12 rocks.

Looking at Funimations site, it isn't out here on DVD yet. You could probably find a bootleg of it on ebay or something if you really wanted it.

On a side note, Movie 9 is my favorite (the Bojack one).

Yes they are 13 movies, movie 13 is "Exploding Dragon Fist".

Final Fusion has'nt com out yet, i think they have only released upto Bojack so far which is movie 9. Still 2 more brolly movies yet :)

I've been looking for th emovie bootleg boxset for a while, it dose'nt hit ebay much at all.

Its also a verfy mixed bunch with sources coming from the US DVD's and Jap Laserdiscs, some subbed, some raw and some dubbed....

Movie 13: Dragon Ball Z: Dragon Fist Explosion! If Gokuu can't do it, No One Can. Is the best one to me. I loved it. I wouldn't wait around for FUNi to molest it though. They could care less these days.

Yeah, it's definitely movie 12: The rebirth of fusion, goku and vegeta. Guess I'll have to wait another 6 months for it to get released?

I don't know. Toei is releasing a box set with DBZ movies 1-13 and DB movies 1-4. It will all be region 2 though so I doubt you would want to bother.

I would look for 11 this fall(around August) and 12 early next year, with 13 coming out next fall. That seems to be how FUNi is going to finish these off.

My favorite, which is having its tenth anniversary in the States as a release next week, is still the original: The Dead Zone. Yeah, they might have not been stupid-powerful at that time, but it's the action and pacing of it all...just really well-executed and badass all around.

Favorite scenes include the first fight Goku has (oh man, when he hits his chin..yes) and Piccolo just being a fucking badass ("You don't know hell").

DBZ's good...at least The Saiyin Saga. I'm watching that Uncut stuff on Cartoon Network at 10:30. Tonight's episode is when Piccolo dies for Gohan, I think.

Movie 12 and 13 own, they are the pinnacle of DBZ at it's finest.

12 is my favorite though, because Vegeta is a real badass in that.

I haven't bought ANY of the funimation movie releases on DVD, they are all fullscreen, and I know damn well the movies were widescreen, my fansubs are wide and they were all released in theatres in Japan in 16x9....

Cool, I had a ton of his fansubs. Where did he get that name from?

Edit: Oh yes, Hitler was good stuff. And Furiza getting his ass beat yet again was cool. Pai Kuu Han was also awesome. Movie 12>all the rest of DBZ.

that I didn't have a prob with, most of them were mono, even on the japanese LD's, I only think some of the later films were in dolby stereo (like 12 and 13).

I don't know where he got it from, but I know he lived in NYC, and I use to see him at Katsucon and Otakon, most people knew who he was, this was around 96-98 though, back when fansubbing DBZ was safe, all those guys have since retired.

yeah him and s.baldric basically did all the DBZ and DB stuff I had. There was this one other group that subbed a ton of the DBZ tv series, can't remember their name, but I remember they added a lot of cussing that wasn't there, they had people saying "fuck you bitch" during fights and stuff like that, lol.

Thanks. I had seen Katja before, but I just couldn't figure out where.

On topic: From FUNi I got Movie 4 VHS then gave it away. Movies 5-8 on DVD and sold them for $20. They were okay, but I just hate FUNimation. It still amazes me how they really edit everything they sell, but get away with Cut and Uncut versions. You never really get the whole product. Pioneer's(Geneon's) releases were miles better. I still have my "Tree of Might" Unedited VHS. It owns. Seeing Son Gohan's penis, was just priceless. :kekeke:

And they have balls enough to re-release the first three films, claiming that Pioneer didn’t release them in their original form. :annoyed: I have yet to find a uncut Funimation DBZ DVD that didn't have something cut out of it.

That's what pisses me off about them. It makes me angry when I think about how much money I spent on those VHS's. When I discovered I was being lied to I gave them all away expect for the said movie and Vol. 1 by Pioneer because it looked cool. I got the DVD's when I learned they had subtitles, but even then learning some stuff was still cut pissed me off.

Toei is releasing 49 Volumes of Dragon Ball in Japan and I think I may actually get some of them. There are a lot of things I'd love to have that I don't have on my tapes I recorded from the International Channel.

To be sort of straddling the on/off-topic thing, was there any particular reason they chose to bring Garlic Jr. into the TV series for one of the filler arcs? Was he a particularly popular villain?

Toei’s DVDs are very expensive, don't be surprised to pay $500.00+ for the movies 1-13 box set. Toei released two box sets of DBZ in 2003, one box had trough the end of Cell and the second one had the Heaven's tournament to the end. These sold for $500.00 and up apiece, your best is trying to track down the blue boxed HK DVD box sets.

You said it right there, he was just filler between Frieza and Android Sagas.

I'd guess he's as popular with the Japanese as much as Americans, I like him a bit more since he reminds me of Pilaf.

Yeah I head about the crazy prices, I just wanted a couple of specific episodes though. These are more reasonable

at that point in the show, they had caught up with the manga, which was still being released. Toriyama needed more time to finish upcoming books so the show would have story, so they added those 20 episodes of filler or so, before they got back to the manga storyline.

both boxsets retailed for about 1,000$ each if i remember.

the "HK" boxsets out for DBZ were sourced from the toei boxsets, they are amazing quality....

If not, it's Movie 10.

I think that's because most of the bootleg sellers are getting shut down. This place called getterdome had them, but it isn't open anymore, atleast the address doesn't work.

It would actually surprise you, those are over priced but it was nothing back in the day to see people buying 10+ DBZ fansubs at a time.

He's all right.

I was kinda pissed that Son Goku wasn't involved at all with Garlic Jr. in the TV series. But the way the storyline had to work, I guess it had to be.
