What's your favorite SNES RPG!!!

My favorite has to be Breath of Fire 2, I have to say the visuals are stunning especially for the capabilities of an SNES. I loved the transformation of Ryu switching into a dragon. It was far smoother than any RPG I have seen for the SNES. The is story is captivating with flashbacks into Ryu's past, his missing sister, father and mother not to mention the friends he meets along the way. I loved how the characters can fuse with the Shamans to transform into a more powerful being. My favorite character was the Kat fused w/ the devil shaman; meow!!! :crying:

Yeah, when you let the game run in demo mode, it shows Crono and Marle doing the Ice Sword attack on Zombor, I got goosebumps after seeing that for the first time.

I would go with FF6. Zelda is second (say whatever you say, I consider it RPG)

yeah it's quirky, it's odd, but it's awesome, and is one of my favorite games of all time. i need to pick up a new copy of it sometime since my last one was stolen.

SMRPG was my first RPG (still haven't beaten Smithy yet, I feel like an asshat), and Chrono Trigger...well, Chrono Trigger just fucking rocks.

US Final Fantasy 3. That game totally blew me away when it came out.

SNES has SO many great RPGs, but I think Earthbound is the best one I've ever played. Sure, Chrono Trigger, FF4, 5, 6 and Seiken Densetsu are great, but Earthbound is just so... .wow. Great music, quirky/cool story, and wonderful atmosphere make it just stand out.

it is beautiful, dramatic, handles great, has my favourite combat system, a wonderful soundtrack ho man i loved that game on my SFC

I guess it's a toss-up between these three for me. They might not have the best gameplay, but the atmosphere and storyline for these games really sucked me in.

FF3, Chrono Trigger rules too, but I thought the sprites looked better and bigger in Final Fantasy 3. Also the end of Crono Trigger was a little disapointing for me.

More like Second Story then Till the End of Time. I can't say anything about the rom hack as I've never played it, but the original has a great story. It's beautiful too, with lots of voice acting.

I would have said Tales of Phantasia, but the PS remake just pisses all over the SFC game.

Going with Smithy is a genius approach by Square, have you played Mario & Luigi for the GBA, I swear this is like the perfect sequel to SMRPG. Paper Mario 64 is awright but the best sequel is Mario & Luigi and part to of this game is coming out! I can't wait. :buttrock:

I'll go with Secret of Mana. I've played this game so many times I've pretty much got it memorized. And then one day I found the "enhanced text" add-on that someone created, and fell in love with it again!

I wouldn't call it the best RPG (or Action-RPG rather...), but it's still a horribly underrated and awesome game.

I remember snagging a loose cart of it a while back on a whim and played it non-stop until I beat it.

It was a very nice little surprise.

Anyway, I've always been a Chrono Trigger fanboy, so I'm adding another vote for that.

But Secret of Mana and Final Fantasy II are very close behind.

So is Super Mario RPG now that I think about it...

Lots of good ones, but i always had a soft spot for Actraiser! Great underated game.

Not to be a son of a bitch, but Zelda's more an RPG than Actraiser. :p

I'm not much of a RPG guy, so Actraiser is a mega-complicated and indepth RPG to me. Guess my strandards are whacked out when it comes to RPG.

I can't beleive it never got a US release. Like Illusion of Gaia It has it's faults but the story and soundtrack make up for it. The ending won't leave you feeling indiferrent that's for sure.


Edit: Man, Enix RPGs were special. I miss them too.

I have recently seen a white complete version of Terranigma on ebay, it is suppose to be more rare than the original pal version. Anyway, does anyone know if there is anymore differences besides color.
