Wakefield got lit up for 7 runs earlier this year against the White Sox. And when we played the Red Sox earlier, Schilling was in the bullpen and had serious trouble against us, giving up runs every time out I think.Quote:

Anaheim of California of LA presents the worse matchup to the White Sox I think. Solid starters and bullpen, and a little bit better of an offense.
This doesn't mean I think the White Sox are guaranteed to win against the Red Sox or Yankees, just think they have a good chance at it. Both of their pitching staffs are hittable, even for the White Sox. Although there were a bunch of low scoring games against the Yankees.

Donnelly and Shields are solid guys to have and it brings back memories of the old Yankee run in to John Wetteland back in 1996.
They had a rought spot in the summer but when they are rolling it is very very hard to come back against them and K-Rod.
I do think Rivera is the better closer but K-Rod has one pitch that I think is great to have; curveball.
Offensively the teams are even.
Defensively it depends, some positions one team is stronger than the other.
Starting pitching depends because both teams have the potential to have great games out of their starters but it's inevitable that someone will pitch badly.
For the Yankees to have a chance they need their starters to go a minimum of 7 innings because outside of Flash Gordon and Mo, their relief is horrible.
I'm afraid of Jaret Wright in the bullpen.
That number 33 he wears brings back the memories of Javier Vazquez and to be honest he certainly seems to have done a great job of taking over Vazquez's spot. Sunday's start was abyssmal. His control was horrible. Leiter runs into the same problem. Proctor has good stuff but a guy like Vlad is going to drill one into the stands because Proctor lets too much sit out over the plate. I could go on, but I'm not since the gist of this is the Yankee bullpen is shit.
Can the Yankees win this series?

They were discussing the possibility of playing Boston in the ALCS again after Sunday's game.
That's a big no-no.
Focus on the first team you play not who you could play next if you win the first round.
I'm not sure they are taking Anaheim seriously...if not it will be just a repeat of 2002.
I do know though the Yankees are the underdogs...nearly every writer for ESPN has picked Anaheim.

He pitches well after he gives up the runs that sunk the Angels.
Cano certainly made mark with his first postseason at bat.
Well tomorrow is definitely going to be where things start heating up.
If the Yanks win tomorrow, the Angels might be finished since the Big Unit will be starting game 3.

The Moose looked good, and Colon looked pretty good after he settled down.
Either way its a good feat to hold the Yanks to 4 runs. This game was another demonstration as to why we need another bat.

Angels Owner Says Team Still Has Way to Go

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Standing on the grass behind home plate before the playoff series opener, Los Angeles Angels owner Arte Moreno insisted his team still had a long way to go.
And that's coming from someone who started at the top.
"We took a championship team over, so the fans' expectations already were very high. We've tried to maintain that level, and it's hard. Not everything is a straight line," he said before the Angels lost to the New York Yankees 4-2 Tuesday night.
"When you're going up, there are always mountains, valleys, hills, hurdles, curves, rivers, oceans," he said.
The Angels won their only World Series championship in 2002, the year before Moreno bought the team from Walt Disney Co. for $183.5 million. After a disappointing 2003 season, major league baseball's first controlling team owner of Hispanic background went to work.
When free agent Bartolo Colon was trying to decide where to sign, he got a telephone call from Moreno, who listed the benefits — in Colon's native Spanish — of coming to Anaheim.
And when newly acquired Vladimir Guerrero searched for the right words in English at an introductory news conference, Moreno stepped right in to translate.
Although he's certainly concerned with the quality of the team, Moreno seems equally focused on making sure the fans have a good time. He often leaves the owner's suite to stroll around the stadium and chat with the customers.
One of his first moves after buying the team was to lower beer prices.
"We really work hard on the fan experience. Obviously, since we've drawn 3 million-plus for three straight years. This is what we're playing the game for," said Moreno, whose business background is in marketing. "A lot of times everybody gets caught up in everything else, and for me, you focus on making sure the fans have a great experience, and that it's affordable.
The Angels set a home attendance record of 3,404,686 this season, an increase of 29,009 over their previous high set last year.
The team's payroll of $95 million is the fourth highest in the majors, but still far below the Yankees' $200 million. And Moreno, who built his fortune in outdoor advertising, obviously has made some smart moves with his money.
Among them were signing Guerrero and Colon.
Guerrero, who got a five-year, $70 million contract, was the AL MVP last year. Colon, who signed a four-year, $51 million deal, had a 21-8 record this season to become the team's first 20-game winner since Nolan Ryan in 1974.
"We have the fourth-highest payroll, and I've said all along that if the right player or players are available that fit into our team, that we would make that investment," Moreno said. "Colon and Guerrero were very much superstar-type players. You look at their historical numbers and that's the way most try to judge a player, then compare and measure what potential that is there."
"Sometimes you make really positive moves and sometimes not everything works out exactly the way you'd like to."
Jose Guillen, another free agent signed after the 2003 season, didn't work out very well. Given a $6 million, two-year deal, Guillen was suspended for the postseason last year after throwing a tantrum, then the Angels traded him to Washington.
"When Arte took over in 2003, his commitment was very evident and very real," Angels manager Mike Scioscia said. "His passion for the game is real and he's given us the type of club that has been able to get into the playoffs and hopefully beyond."
The Angels went from 1986 to 2002 without a postseason appearance. They've won the AL West two of the three years Moreno's owned them.
"We had a real good platform to work on, that championship team," he said. "Until you match that, you haven't reached full expectations. I don't want to be standing here now before Game 1 of a division playoff saying I'm satisfied."
Could the Angels be turning into a West Coast version of the Yankees, a perennial October participant?
"I think that's a question you can ask me in five or seven years and then I might be able to say, `Well, yes, we built a team to be consistent contenders,'" he said.
He quickly corrected himself.
"I don't just want to be a contender," he said, "I want to win a championship or multiple championships, period."
