Ok let's get the ball rolling.

Rich Harden had a perfect game going through 7 1/3 innings last night. Gave up 2 hits en route to a CG SO.

If I were the Angels I might start to worry about what is looming behind me now that the A's seem to be rolling again. I still think the Angels will win the AL West, but they may have to work for it now.

A-Rod finally showed up in the clutch against Boston...very nice to see.

But depending on who you talk to, A-Rod is still not a "real Yankee".

Jose Conteras actually picked a gem of a game yesterday which is funny since he knew how to pitch gems last season for the other team. ;)

Arod has been clutch all year for the yanks in fact he was carrying the offense for a while when Matsui wasn't hitting. He just wasn't hitting Boston but with calls like the one schilling got last night on Matsui you can see why.

Albert Pujos is going to be one of the greatest sluggers ever.

Contreras is either really good or really bad.

And it all has to do with his control. If he starts walking people, hitting people, throwing wild pitches, it's over. But if he throws strikes, he can be near unhittable.

Contreras also doesn't keep the ball down at times which ends up being batting practice for hitters. Doesn't help your team if you throw strikes but they are all down the center of the plate.

I don't think the Angels have anything to worry about in the West. The A's really don't have that strong of a team.

It helps a lot more than walking them.

Walking people never does any good. (well, except to setup forceouts)

This is fact. Like it or not, a good measure of how a pitcher will perform in key situations like the playoffs is to pitch for the Yanks and all 3 of them failed miserably. And the main reason the Yanks need to focus on developing their own talent is that the best performers are bred in that environment. Of all the big free agents available it's really difficult to find a guy that steps up in NY. The reason the Yanks got Sheffield over Vlad is they knew Sheff could handle the pressure (though likely Vlad could too). Perfect examples: Brosius, Tino, O'Neil. Big time guys that looked average-above average coming in.

El Duque was a big time clutch performer, but he's really 48 years old and started to break down. Too bad. Contreras never had a chance.

The yankees won EVERY single post season game that rodgers started.

The best part about this is that Contreras can be a better pitcher than the Yankees entire rotation, maybe except Randy Johnson, who is 48 years old himself.

One of the things that always bothered me about Jose Contreras is the fact that his splitter is virtually unhittable. Obviously his problem was all mental...it was a shame because had he been able to have a good mental game, things would have turned out a lot differently for him.

I know. His splitter is straight nasty and he has a good fastball.

But one thing goes wrong and he crumbles.

Everything goes right and it's all good as seen in his performance yesterday.

His biggest problem is the walks and wild pitches, which usually happens after he's allowed a couple hits or a homer or something.

Walking batters is the worst thing you can do, since it doesn't give your defense a chance to make plays for you.

I just don't think there are many options out there...the NY Times and other sources were reporting a potential trade with the Marlins for Al Leiter. I really hope that is a joke because I don't think Al Leiter is going to help.

Right now as it stands, Kevin Brown may be back next week.

Carl Pavano still has yet to be determined when he will be back, hopefully soon.

Chien Ming Wang may not even be back this season. Ditto to Jaret Wright.

Every year, the Yankees make attempts to upgrade their starting pitching and it never works out.

Well the Big Unit is pitching this afternoon, it should be interesting to see what happens. I think they can win today, but tomorrow is another story.

God help me I'm hoping Brown comes back.

Losing 17-1 is no big deal. Losing a close game is much better. Remember how the Yanks demolished the Sox in Game 3 then lost the next 4?

Yeah I am hoping Brown comes back soon because it would be better than starting those idiots from the Padres. Sometimes I have to wonder what makes teams think that picking up pitchers who have shown nothing other than the ability to give up lots of runs is a good idea.

Hey Butta did you here the rumor of Contreras and Crede for Burnett and Lowell. Anyways Yanks are winning 4-0 last I saw so with only 2 starters they take the series from the sox pretty impressive if you ask me. I nkow it's not over yet but even a split is good news for yankee fans.

It's a damn shame the Reds are putting on their best Brewers impression and sitting in the basement of the NL Central. They may be 7-3 over their last 10 but I don't see them climbing out of the gutter in time before the season ends. My Indians are just barely over .500 ball and not going anywhere in the AL Central.

At least the Cards are pretty much a lock for the NL Central. I'm hoping the Nationals can maintain their lead over in their division and widen the gap between them and the Braves.

I'd say the Padres will win it just because of the Dbacks not having an ace starter. Plus it looks like the Pads offense is starting to get hot.

The Yankees could be tough. However, the Angels have the best record against the Yankees of any team since Joe Torre took over as manager.
Either way, it's time for Vlad and GA to step up and stop this garbage. They are slowly blowing our nice lead in the AL West. Sure their bats will come around eventually.

The biggest problem with Vlad is he's hot one month and cold the next. He needs to learn how to stay hot. Our offense gets hot and cold depending on how Vlad is. We were lucky to start hitting when he went on the DL. But with not much power we really need our power hitters to step up and drive in runs. The guys at the bottom seem to at least be doing their jobs. But what good is that if Vlad pops up and GA strikes out during a rally?

The Angels didn't win that game, the Yankees gave it away. If you really believe that was a comeback, please. It's a known fact that outside of Tanyon Sturtze, Tom Gordon, and Mariano Rivera that there is no one else reliable in that bullpen. I wasn't surprised that they won as a result of going to Scott Proctor and Buddy Groom. Those are two guys you do not want to use unless it is a blow out for the most part. Sure Vlad did hit the homerun off of Gordon, but had Proctor and Groom never been used, there is no comeback.

Even if the Angels should win this series, I would hate to have the A's coming after me.

Braves tied for 1st. Hudson, Hampton and Chipper all back in the line up. It's cruise control to a 14th strait division title from here.

How about that rookie Francoeur, batting .409, 3HR, 7RBI in 7 games since they've brought him up. Talk about rushing a guy. This dude is 21 years old, no college exp. and he'd only played in 18 games at AA level. Pretty much a single A player being brought strait into the pros.

The Yankees fans are THE MOST obnoxious, LOUD, and DISRESPECTFUL, of ALL the teams we play. Much worse than the BoSox fans, and (dare I say it) GASP the Dodger fans.

Last season when Boston came to town, there was actually two points during one game where the whole stadium got the "Yankee's suck" chant going full- that was pretty awesome. Even while playing each other the Angel and BoSox fans could unite to hate the evil empire.

I like our chances in the next three games. At least more than this first game. Randy Johnson at least is a great pitcher, even if he has struggled. Our offense has been struggling the last few games but we faced great pitchers.

I hope our bats all explode on the Yankees the next three games. A sweep would be great but even three of four would be nice.

Friday: Lackey vs. Leiter
I think Leiter will be reminded why Florida dumped him. LOL

Saturday: Santana vs. Brown
Brown always stuggles in the first inning. This will be a slug fest. I think the Angels will win 11-9. :)

Sunday: Washburn vs. Mussina
I think this will be a low-scoring game. Both are great pitchers. Maybe the Angels will win 4-3 or 3-2.

I think a sweep is possible. :)

Also, I think Giambi is back on the juice.

He's not only hitting homers all over the place, he grew back that jack-o'-lantern head and those bowling ball biceps all of the sudden again.

He may not be on 'roids, though, but could be on some sort of speed combo. He seems to be skitzing out there. Did you see the bulging eyes and the jacked up look on his face?

When he got off the Juice, it was like he was some freaking Tim Burton character that got deflated like a hideous balloon. And now he's got all the air pumped back into him

I honestly think he's re-started juicing after they almost sent him down to the Minors. They better test him....

Crazy thing is that Yankee fans will swear up and down that Giambi is now the same size as he was last year. Giambis head looks like a small planet...perhaps Pluto. And he has gained at least 30lbs since Spring training.

This drug testing is a joke.
