(no doubt it will have a more "traditional Hollywood" sleve around it like The Royal Tennenbaums, but have no doubt undeneath will be another Wes Anderson-drawn cover:

... a lot :p I have a list typed out on my computer at home, but its not near me. Two other MN members: CriterionRadioHead (surprise!) and naitram also have big collections from Criterion.

I've toned down my DVD collecting quite a bit, but I just put in an order for about 6 Criterion DVDs recently. They'll probably be my only criterion acquisitions of the year.

They're addicting as hell and more expensive than drugs... I legitimize it because I don't like collecting fiction books, but these are usually "library worthy" DVDs.

Just give me a guesstimate... My collection won't compare for shure but I'm just curious....

I have Hardboiled. Paid a pretty penny for it, but not nearly as much as you would pay for The Killer. One day, though. One day...

Oh yeah, I also have a first edition pressing of Seven Samurai. :D

I have a large selection of Criterion Laserdiscs but not one single DVD - I did see an added value in owing quality transfers and extras on Laserdiscs but for some reasons DVDs have less appeal to me and I am not ready to pay the premium for Criterion DVDs... what's so grerat about them Bobak?

I think the only criterion movie I have is The Royal Tenenbaums.
OH YEAH and Rushmore.
I guess that makes two.

My father has the Criterion edition of Blade Runner on LASERDISC which trumps anything that own. Anything except my original pressings of A New Hope and Empire on laser disc :D

that scene where he runs to the front of the boat after his son introduces himself... wow, the music, the camera work, the dialogue... just wow.

I didn't get to see this in the theater, but I got a chance to check out the first disc of the Criterion DVD... wow...just wow. What a great movie. I've watched it 3 times already; once with the commentary, twice without. Comentary recorded in the restaraunt Anderson and the co-writer wrote the screenplay. Can't wait to buy this when it comes out and see what's on the second disc.

Even though he's only done a few movies, I can't think of a single filmmaker of the current generation (unless you count Lynch as current generation) who's works resonate with me the way Anderson's do.

i thought the story was far fetched and the characters more stiff and
not as genuine as other as his other movies.
but i still liked it.
maybe it's the portuguese bowie soundtrack.
decent movie, but not as strong as his other work.
worth seeing though. and i am getting the dvd.
:)

Mouse_master's signature file has had a link to "DVDProfiler" for the longest time. Which one is better? Frankly I'm a little hesitant to list my movies online -realizing how much I've spent over the years would sober me up real fast :loco:

I like DVD Aficionado more because it's all run from the site, so you don't have to worry about downloading anything/updates/etc.

I can't work out if I like this movie or not.

I guess I was all for the sound track and Cate Blanchette :emb:

Heh, I guess that I have 2 out of print Criterions: Dead Ringers and Flesh for Frankenstien. I sold Hardboiled in a pinch and made quite a bit. I did not like the movie at all so no big loss. This also reminded me that I need to buy Fear and Loathing Criterion... I bought the original version... but shit.

EDIT: Oh, and Robocop. Shit, Sid & Nancy and Silence of the Lambs too... what the hell?

Life Aquatic came out today. If you want it, get you to the store, because I went to Best Buy an hour after opening and they only had a couple of the 2-disc left.

They did, however, still have a bunch of the 1-disc (which confusingly, is also Criterion)...so watch you don't get that, thinking it's the only version.
