Fucking Tubular. . .

Anyway, I was thinking about the similarities in name with the boss koopas and musicians, and from what I gather. . .

Iggy = Iggy Pop

Morton Koopa Jr. = Morton Downey Jr. (???)

Lemmy = Lemmy Kilmister

Ludwig von Koopa = Beethoven

Roy = Roy Orbison (duh)

Wendy O. Koopa = Wnedy O. Williams

And the Reznors = Trent Reznor?

But who the hell is Larry supposed to be?

Super Mario World... man.

I really can't think of a better platformer ever. The incredible level designs, tons of enemies, secrets, awesome control, unforgettable music, great use of color...I could go on for days about it. I feel like it was the game that really turned me into a hardcore gamer for life. It made the $500 hole in my pocket from importing the Super Fami (along with F-Zero, Final Fight and Actraiser) quite bearable.

I think about the three weeks I played it non-stop and it just brings a massive smile to my face. SO damn good. Miyamoto's greatest work, followed closely by Zelda: A Link to the Past.

The early nineties were MY golden age of gaming. Just got too much shit to do now to enjoy gaming like I used to.

I bet Miyamoto sits around watching her pop ping pong balls out of her snatch. I always knew he was a closet freak.

500 dollars?!? wow.. yeah I remember those crazy prices (not much has changed though). I was just glad to get mine for free (thanks to Saddam Hussein loosing the war - never mind).

mario was/is killer in that outing. love the colour and design. and honky tonk piano music.

Some of the concepts of SMB3 were put into SMW such as the overworld map screen and mini-castles.

But it cannot touch SMW in the long run.

I remember the first time I saw the game back in 1991, my jaw dropped. It is one of the greatest 2D sidescrollers ever. SMW2 doesn't even touch this.

Like everyone mentioned, the colors are simply amazing as well as the level design. Searching for hidden paths on the world map via the keys in certain levels was fucking great. I lost so many hours of my life to this game. The exploration is ridiculous. Who could forget completing Star Road and then finding that there was a whole new secret world to complete.

And Trent Reznor is akin to a god.

First of all, SUPER MARIO WORLD is definitely the best platformer ever!

Second of all, I think you have spent too much time thinking about this stuff. I really doubt that the names in the game have anything to do w/ any real people, and besides are those the original names of the characters (Japanese version)?

Third, when you are really stoned, you should spend your time doing something creative taht would be more worth while like playing music, painting, writing.... Me, I like to play music.

I remeber saying to myself that day, "Fuck will this game ever end!?!?!"

This game took up so much of my time that the other game that I had for the snes was neglected for like two months or more( can't even remeber what the game was ), loved the ending and the ending theme
