Congratulations to both Bungie and Microsoft.
Congrats...as we knew it was going to have good success in first day sales. :D
Indeed, good job so far Microsoft and Bungie! Keep up the good work!
pfff, that's nothing, I make that in ... like... 476 years.
Yes once again we have proven to game companies that if they hype a game, and do little to nothing to improve on the original we will still buy the games. Truly a victory for unoriginality. Who needs to make the game different when you can release the same game and slap a 2 on the end of the title.
Industry analysts suspect that Halo 2 would've posted a 25-35% larger sales figure, had the game shipped with an ending.
I think its a bit weird to be congratulating microsoft, I mean who give a fuck if they made more money?
Yes, you are right, Halo2 should have been a date-sim.Quote:

Meh .... 3 years of uber-hyping will do wonders. I'm confident that Metroid Prime 2 will be a much better game.
Yeah, sure it will. :kekeke: :kekeke: :kekeke: :kekeke: :kekeke:Quote:

Jesus Christ, no piece of entertainment deserves that much money except First Folio. The video-game industry is the absolute, dead-last, don't-even-try-it entity that should be biatching about piracy; it makes more money than some countries.
Haha, yes, your avatar says it all.Quote:

Funny - the PS2's 3d games make me feel sick, but I guess it's because they can't pump out frames like the GC or XBox...Quote:

Pretty nice. I think Bungie got what they've deserved. They've been the little overlooked developers for way too long. All that work they've done since Marathon is finally paying off.
It's still neat to see how much of their old stuff builds into what we see here. Even when it comes to packaging (with the A.I. intercepts and message booklet) screams of the kind of communications Bungie always loved to do.
Of course, you don't make this kind of money with a first game in the series, so it does say wonders about the success of Halo 1.
Still, it's apparent (playing Halo 2) that Bungie wants even more power, in the future. They wanted to make it play with all the non-restrictions of a movie editor, so they did everything they could to make loading non-existant during the campaign. It does make for certain split-second pop ups at beginning of certain scenes (not there if you have a modified xbox with this on the HD), but it is still impressive how it can jump from one locale to a totally different locale, instantly. Whereas in Halo 1, you had a 10+ second load wait to accomplish the same thing.
I'm also wondering what would have happened if the French version hadn't been leaked so everybody would have had to buy it without knowing how hard it sucked.Quote:

I haven't even started single player. Probably never will.
I started three times and I never get past the first cut scene without someone sending me a match invite. I can't be arsed to log off.Quote:

After reading the user reviews of the French version, I thought it would blow, but I actually thought the single player campaign was heaps better than the first.
btw i watched the intro and first 2 cutscenes last night before we played the 4 player split screen and the texture popup is just plain ugly, sloppy and distracting. shame on them. :kekeke:
Well, you do know the reason. The technique they're trying has never been done before, to this degree, on any system, until now. As was said before, it was done so they could run the campaign like a movie with no load breaks. It's just too bad that it goes just a bit too fast (with too much complexity) for the data to keep up 100%. The question is, is the payoff better than the alternative? That's an opinion only the individual can make.

Meh. People just feel a need to bitch.
Halo and Metroid Prime are different kinds of games. Yes, they're both first-person titles, but Halo's emphasis is entirely on combat, without all the platforming and exploration shit in MP.
Yes, Halo 2's single player campaign needs help. No one ever played Quake or Unreal Tournament for the fucking 'story' though. The MP in Halo 2 is beyond compare.
This said though, it's kinda funny the obscene lengths to which Bungie went to conceal the story, when it's pretty apparent that said story kinda bites.
I just want some classic maps re-released...I miss Damnation and Hang 'Em High.
Derelict was great too. You can derelict my balls.
i don't know what peoples problems are with the storyline. so far, it has been awesome, i'm currently whopping ass as the arbitor, and the Chief and the other marines made a slipstream jump after the covie. so far so good, maybe it gets REALLY bad, but i've liked the SP so far, graphics definetly blow the first one away, enviroments are fucking huge compared.Quote:

LOL BBC News 24 here in the UK was reporting on this, the dumb bitch said that Halo 2's creator was EB Games hahaha. :kekeke:
yes congrats to the thousands upon thousands of consumer whores who bought the game. It really is not that much of an improvement over the last game. And you know what else? The first one wasnt really that revolutionary either. Just another good FPS. Proof that if Microsoft or any other company has enough money to hype it, it will sell. The video game industry has gotten really sad within the last 5 or 7 years, and microsoft is just speeding it up. The music industry has gone the same way. Ill just listen to talented music like Olivia Tremor Control and The Books. Ill just keep playing games like Last Blade 2, katamari Damasi (no, not Damacy), and Growlancer. And ill have alot more fun doing it knowing that im not part of the bullshit. I look at most things as artwork, definately games fall into that category. When something is done with feeling, it can be seen in the final product. Halo 2 wasnt put out because Microsoft thought it would better the gaming community, Microsoft knew they would make a shitload of money. Congrats, they did... :annoyed:
How does it feel to wake up one morning in January of '99 and find out that your in the parallel world?? heh...Quote:

Halo 1 had the same textures repeating over and over again... even the areas were all the same (Library, anyone? How many times did you have to travel through the identical elevator?). Halo 2 does all of that much, much better.
Some of you just had expectations that were too high. I had high expectations too, but I guess they weren't high enough because I'm STILL blown away by this game. Especially multiplayer. We've been doing 8-player system link in the dorms here for a while, and 1-flag CTF on Zanzibar is far more intense than Team Slayer "everyone gets a pistol and nades".
As for the texture glitches, I'm not bothered by them at all. They only last for a second or so, and I don't feel they're detrimental to the gameplay.
It still is!!!!!Quote:

Halo 2 is that good, that's why it's selling. Not because of some marketing BS.
Yeah, i loved halo 1 but i didnt quite well understand the story(there were some stupid aliens and some even stupidier(?) lol)... and that's not why the game rocks!Quote:

You guys only play multiplayer? looks like quake 3arena, maybe halo 3 will not have single player missions!
PS. MS should consider that lots of people ( not americans ) will not have xbox live! should make larger single players missions( halo2 , splinter cell, etc)
slightly true J - but its sold on the merit of the original Halo, its not good or great its at best mediocre in single playerQuote:

Another strange thing that happend was when i went to my local EB i asked if i could have the Terry hat. The guy told me if he was going to give it to me i would have to preorder Halo 2...WTF? Please tell me what terry has to do with halo? So i did, and then quickly came back and put my money towards Metal Slug Advance. Tis a strange world indeed. A friend of mine had an idea that Microsoft isnt telling anyone but Halo 3 is in the works soon. Where did all of that stuff that was promised go? Its definately not in 2.....hmmm what a great way to make more shitloads of money. Nobody will really complain though, after all, its Halo 3!!!
