Strange Version of King of Fighters 2003

Can someone explain what this is to me? Is it a prototype board or something? I've never seen a Neo Geo board this big before.

that would just be the jamma pcb of that game. its not a neo cart. svc chaos got a similar non-cart release.

Huh, well that's interesting. Are KOF 2003 & SNK Vs. CAPCOM the only two games that received Jamma releases like this?

The only games release in this format were Metal Slug 5, King of Fighters 2003 and SvC Chaos. They are basically an MV1C MVS and the corresponding cart in a single board. Game roms are in small SMD chips though, to save space and costs, I guess. They are cheaper than its carts counterparts AFAIK.

That is how those games where released in Japan.

Japan never got cart versions of KOF2k3, MS5, or SvC.
