So I imagine alot of us have a cab / super gun / or AES. Or not thats cool too
But for those of us that had gotten our first taste in the arcade hobby what was it and what got you started any interesting stories?
For me I used to venture out to this retro game store / cafe to buy things up and browse (out of business now) and he had a Hyper Neo 64, I had heard of candy cabs and i finally got to play one, fell in love instantly. He sold it for 450$ and at the time I could neither barely afford it or store it, living at home junior year of high school.
After that for years I kept seeing countless cabs online just pass me by until finally I got my hands on a New Astro City from a guy in Kentucky. For years I always wanted a candy cab I loved them to death the hardware the form factor etc.
My first taste of Jamma though was technically a 60 in 1 board and a DIY bartop cab. Which I later managed to shove a Naomi in. I was always disappointed in my Bartop it wasn't ever what i really wanted and as a result never got much play time. When I finally got a seller willing to sell me his cab, me and my father ( we didn't do much together at the time) rented an SUV and drove 6 hours there and back, this was also my first road trip believe it or not . It was pretty great. The guy was getting out of the hobby though and it had to go sadly but now it has a new loving home! Now im on the hunt again! (I knew this would happen.. it was like destiny or something )
What about you guys, I would love to here some of the stories from some long time members who seem to have had the upper hand a few years or more before I could even dream of affording this stuff for fun.
Edit Btw the guy got the cab from a group buy in Lexington and it had a Windy Gaming sticker on the back. I messaged mr. Windy him self on facebook and its likely one of his. I think he is a user around here too lol ;P
