Why oh why can't i charge PSP with USB

the awesome 4 hour battery ran out on the plane while playing star ocean, and I'm fucking stuck without my psp because i don't travel with a million clunky adapters.

my phone, DS, GPS, and camera can all charge straight from 1 USB cable.

5.0 auto switches to USB mode when you plug it in, but that's still stupid.

There is a hard mode you can do to the fat and slim to make them charge straight off the usb cord and in the case of the slim you don't need to toggle this on in the menu.

Long time ago I just bought a USB + Power Cord thing.

Charges right off the USB using the specially made end which you would use to normally charge it.
Along with it having a Mini USB.

The nice thing about the PSP is that you can buy separate batteries for it, unlike the DS, but the DS lasts forever on one charge compared to the PSP.

I'm gonna sound olde-fashioned, but I like the use of AA better. Easier to replace.
