Maybe Nintendo originally wanted it to be clunky with exploratory game play, so they feel no need to remake it?

i don't think the clunky gameplay was intentional. the game just hasn't aged well. it would be nice if nintendo would do a remake of the game just like they did with with the first metroid. zero mission was sweet..

the original nes zelda definitely needs a remake. the clunky gameplay and lack of a decant map and clues make the game harder than it should be.

There's no need to remake that game. It plays fine. There's enough resources avaiable on different avenues that you shouldn't have any difficulty getting to the end.

"Lack of a decent map and clues" shouldnt be an excuse to enjoy those games from that period.

There was a big map with lots of clues included with the game when you bought it.
