Stereo Question

I noticed something the other day. When i play KOF2K w/ headphones on, i can hear all kinds of sounds that i didn't hear with speakers plugged in the headphone jack. These speakers aren't amplified, but does that matter? Will it sound better if the speakers are amplified?

You might have cheapo speakers that attenuate certain frequencies.

I think you will always hear certain sounds wearing headphones that you normally wouldn't hear without headphones. That goes for any sound source such as DVDs, stereo, video games, etc.
